Fender 60th Anniversary 1962 Telecaster Electric Guitar  (Used)

Join the celebration to honor the guitar that changed popular music forever.

After the Telecaster blazed a new trail through
the 1950s, a new version featuring a bound
body—the Telecaster Custom—was introduced in the early 1960s. The ’62 Telecaster pays striking homage to that guitar, with an Olympic White lacquer finish, black binding
and white pearloid block inlays on a rosewood
fretboard.

On its 1951 introduction, the Telecaster was a
revolutionary instrument that would usher in
whole new eras of musical innovation and
excitement. Sixty years later, in 2011, it is an
archetypal electric guitar with a long and
storied history. The rich history of Fender
guitars begins with the Telecaster, and Fender is
celebrating its 60th anniversary all year with
12 very special "Tele-bration" models that
stay inside the Telecaster's famously elegant
lines while offering the finest and most
unusual takes on the instrument's past,
present and future.

Bought used and it turned out a dud

Pros

  • Elegant
  • Great looking

Cons

  • Fret Buzz

Best Uses

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary 1962 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar used, condition 2 (gently used). I returned the guitar due to fret buzz on the B open string.

I contacted customer service immediately after I received the guitar and realized there was a buzz problem. I wanted to figure out how they deal with these issues (technical support over the phone, service agreements with local guitar shops, perhaps?) and quickly learned that I was on my own. I was told that I could either return the guitar or take it to a guitar tech and pay out of my own pocket to fix the problem.

Now, I realize I bought a used guitar. I expected cosmetic flaws (dings in the body, scratches on pickguard, others) but had the expectation that the guitar would be fully functional and would not need repairs before I could play it.

Several weeks later, Cyber Monday came and I was able to get a great deal on a brand new 60th Anniversary 62 Tele elsewhere. I'm happy I returned the used axe.

I've bought new gear from Musician's Friend with no problems but I will definitely steer away from getting used gear from MF again.

Comments about Fender 60th Anniversary 1962 Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Fenomenal guitar all around. Would say it's playability is it's best feature. That said, the craftmanship on this guitar is worthy of the best surgeons. Nothing but a great purchase.
