I have been waiting to get my hands on one of these for the past three months, and they can be difficult to track down (Musician's Friend came through, again). Mine arrived yesterday as I was loading my car to go rehearse, and I had given up on its arrival for the day. Instead, FedEx delivered it as I was about to leave and I took out my other guitar, and also switched amps to the Fender Acoustasonic Junior that I recently got to specifically go with this guitar. Turned out to be a great choice - I showed up at the rehearsal, whipped out the never-played guitar straight out of its gig bag, tuned it up and plugged in to the Junior. I have NEVER as impressed with a brand new guitar straight out of the box, and I have played and owned electric guitars since 1969. Wow! First, the looks of this thing drew stares, as nobody (including me) had ever actually seen one "in person". The other guitarist offered to buy it from me on the spot...no way! The set up on the action and the three Fishman bridge transducers was PERFECT, no soft-loud imbalances on the various string pairings. The volume and tone pots on the side of the bridge are a nice, sophisticated touch, keeping the lines very clean. The neck feels like my 8-yr. old Mexican Strat, and it's not surprising why - the Strat Acoustasonic is also Hecho En Mexico. Which brings me to my only small gripe - I believe that they could lower the price on this beauty. But I am NOT complaining now that I actually own one. For a perfect amplified acoustic guitar sound with the look and feel of a real Strat, this is IT! Fender, I am IMPRESSED!

Sounds great plugged in. No feedback, works great with a regular amp. Sounds just like a big acoustic when plugged in. Sounds horrible unplugged, not very loud, muffled, like you put a towel over a regular acoustic, not much louder than a solidbody when unplugged. Very, very, good sounding when plugged in. Dont buy it to play unplugged. It is not "surprisingly loud unplugged" as advertised on the Fender site.

This electric/acoustic rocks

By catsthree

I now have the pleasure of owning one of these babies. My brother-in-law who is a die hard Martin fan wants to buy it from me he is so impressed. Plug this bad boy into a Strawberry Blonde II and it will compare to any guitar around at any price. Buy this guitar and you will not be sorry.

one of the coolest acousitcs in history

By shanethorntonmusic

from Cabot, AR

My name is Shane Thornton, and I have owned my Fender Acoustasonic Stratocaster for about 2 and a half years. I've been very pleased with my guitar since the first time I pulled it off the shelf! It has the feel of a stratocaster, but the sound of an acoustic... And I was looking for something different, and it had to be very lightweighted for my performance! I have been playing for about 18 years, even on tour with a few different artists and this is still yet, my favorite guitar... I own about 20 guitars, and it will always be my number one guitar!!!

Acoustasonic Strat

By C. Mills

from Los Angeles

The Acoustasonic Strat is a great balanced Acoustic/Electric guitar. It's like playing an acoustic Stratocaster. When I took mine in to be set up the music store said they were going to order one for their store. Fenders are the best.

Playable but relatively quiet

By Glenn Jones

from Canberra, Australia

I recently purchased a sapphire blue Acoustasonic. The quality really is very good and it only needed a slight tweak of the neck to render it completely playable sraight out of the box. It is not as loud as Fender claims. Having said that, it delivers a more acceptable tone and volume unplugged than my Ovation Viper - more towards an unplugged Taylor T-5 in volume than a solid body Strat. The workmanship is very good - something not always apparent in Mex Fenders, which are more likely to suffer from the 'made on a Monday' syndrome than their American counterparts. I have only two gripes with my Acoustasonic - I wish that it was shaped like a Tele and the original retail price was too high - hence the reason for me taking the risk of waiting for the dealer to drop the price. I reckon Fender would have had a real winner if they had made a Tele version, as country players would have lined up around the block for it.

Dont buy to play unplugged!

AcoustasonicReview

By readme

from Baton Rouge, LA

I bought this guitar today, and I couldn't have been more impressed. IT has a lot of volume, resonance, and sustain even while unplugged. The "hidden/diguised" volume/tone controls give the acoustasonic a nice sleek look. To sum it all up: acoustasonic=sweet; you=going to buy one tommorow.

The one you'll grab for a few riffs

By Something different

from Sebring, FL

My guitars hang on the wall for easy access, but this is the one I'll grab for some 'off the wall' informal, unplugged riffing. It seems to bridge the gap between acoustic and electric playing style and technique. Great craftmanship and the tone knob yields a wide spectrum of all useful sounds. The jack in mine is somewhat intermmitant though; don't know if that's peculiar to mine or not. Overall, a keeper!

Lightweight, heavy acoustic sound.

By Rick Janes

from Worcester, MA

Lighter than a Parker Fly, sounds better than a Martin. Fishman electronics, feels and plays like a strat, the most comfortable and easy to play guitar. No need to change to a big box for acoustic sounds anymore... played it at NAMM Show.

incredible guitar

By sam-2I-kg

from Yonker, NY

Yhis guitar is extremely comfortable to play, and has an incredible sound as well. I find it sounds best through a Fender tube amp on clean tone. The neck on this guitar is incredible. my friend has a Taylor acoustic which looks nice but this guitar sounds much better than the Taylor through an amp. Extremely light. Durable. I've gigged with this guitar and bagged it a few times but everything is entact.
