OVERVIEW

The ash Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster gives you the distinct grain pattern and spanking tone of an ash body, with all the cool specs of the new American Deluxe Stratocaster. A new compound-radius fretboard makes string bending exhilaratingly effortless anywhere along the neck.

New Fender N3 noiseless pickups supercharge your sound with improved Stratocaster tones for sparkling bell-like chime with no hum. Reconfigured S-1 switching offers even more knockout tonal options. Other features include staggered locking tuners, a 2-point synchronized American Deluxe tremolo bridge with pop-in arm, and a beveled neck heel. Fender includes a molded Fender-exclusive SKB case with glass-reinforced latches and TSA locks, cable, and strap locks with the American Deluxe Strat.

Fender N3 Noiseless pickups
N3 Noiseless pickups deliver the best of yesterday and today, because they deliver landmark vintage Fender tone and response without the hum that can plague single-coil pickups. Using an improved stacked coil-coil design, N3 Noiseless pickups are specially tailored for each Stratocaster and Telecaster pickup position. The insulated metal core of each pickup position type differs in thickness and composition for enhanced tone, and Fender has fine-tuned the sized, shape, and wire gauge of the coils to balance the magnetic responsiveness essential to great tone. N3 pickups represent a welcome return to the warmth and clarity of alnico magnets. An Alnico 5 magnet is used in the bridge position, Alnico 2 in the middle position, and Alnico 3 for the neck position. Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Pickup switching: 5-position blade and S-1 push/push

S-1 switch up:
Position 1. bridge pickup
Position 2. bridge and middle pickup in parallel
Position 3. middle pickup
Position 4. middle and neck pickup in parallel

S-1 switch down:
Position 1. bridge pickup in series with middle pickup
Position 2. bridge pickup in parallel with special capacitor and in series with middle pickup
Position 3. bridge/middle/neck pickups with neck and bridge pickups in parallel and in series with middle pickup
Position 4. neck pickup in parallel with special capacitor and in series with middle pickup
Position 5. neck pickup in series with middle pickup

Incorporates evolutionary advances while retaining the look and feel that has made the Stratocaster legendary.

I bought this guitar 7 years ago. I researched every guitar I could think of, and decided I wanted my very first guitar to be a strat. I decided this one was the way to go. and it was.

The most beautiful grain I have ever sen on a guitar, (doesn't really show up in pictures too well) and the fastest, easiest neck I have every played, period. The sound I get out of is just as good as any famous song. The neck pickup sounds very open, but throaty, the middle pickup (now my favourite) sounds punchy, open, and bright, and the bridge pickup sounds twangy, but cuts though everything. Every pickup gives that classic fender glassy, bell like tone.

Admittedly, I do not use the s1 switch that frequently, but I do love the sound it gives. It makes the guitar have a fatter, more bass driven sound, which I only really use on high distortion.

The range of tones you can get out of this guitar is amazing. on the clean channel, a bit of reverb gives the sweetest tone ever. this guitar can play anything from drive my car, to let it be, to superstitious, to basket case, and american idiot. My friend when he comes over, wont put my guitar down from the send he arrives until I drive him home. (good thing I've got a drum kit!)

The guitar came with fender strings, but I quickly changed them out for ernie ball super slinkys. I liked the tone better. recently I've been experimenting with different strings. For a while I used ernie ball cobalts, which honestly, I liked even better than the slinkys. They gave a punchier, brighter, louder sound. and if that doesnt suit the song you're playing, you've got eq and volume knobs on your amp!

For the last 4 months, I've had pyramid golds on. Not something you usually put on a strat, but I like to experiment. I absolutely love the feel and tone! super smooth, and NO finger noise. The tone could be described as a more mellow, punchy-throbbing sound, and I love it. clean channel, I would call it a vintage tone, distortion, it crunches and screams like any other string. I had to change the wound G to the unwound ernie ball I had on previously however, because bends were too difficult with the higher gauge. now its perfect though.

All in all, a beautiful guitar that looks, feels, and sounds amazing, that can do any electric 6 string song, even songs originally played on les pauls and gretschs and wha not. I insist any strat fan looking for a new guitar looks at this model.

if you would like to hear how this guitar actually sounds, you can check out my youtube channel, Thebx2. no pressure though.

I bought this guitar a while back. I am not sure why they are saying this is a "new" guitar. Fender has been making this guitar for a while now. I thought it was the most beautiful Strat I have ever seen! The finish was gorgeous and it was beautifully made. Unfortunately, I really liked looking at it and rarely played it. S-1 switching sounded like crap. People say, "It sounds like strat and a Les Paul" Wrong! It does not sound like a Les Paul. When the S-1 was engaged, it sounded dark and muffled....not like humbuckers but like a strat with some added gain yet way too dark. Even the noiseless pickups didn't sound good to me. I finally got tired of just looking at this guitar and sold it. I resurrected my 1990 American Standard Strat that sounds way better and still love playing that guitar. With the money I got for selling this Deluxe Ash strat, I bough a new amp and a Squire Classic Vibe Telecaster and had money left to put in the bank. I LOVE that Squire. It's amazing that a guitar this inexpensive can be one of my favorites to play. I say buy an American Standard over this guitar any day.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash Electric Guitar:

I own a 2004 American 50th Anniversary standard strat with CS 54's in it as well as a Les Paul traditional Pro. When I first got this guitar I had high expectations. Upon opening the box I immediately plugged it in and was totally bummed. The actions was a bit high for my taste, but worse I the tone was very bland, especially compared to my 2004 standard. Long story short after a set up and adjusting the height of the pickups WOW. what a difference. This is now my favorite guitar and I rarely pick up the other two. One word of advice, make sure before you make any judgements get a proper set up!

    • Tone Quality Is Fantastic

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash Electric Guitar:

The over all quality is very good for a production line guitar, Tone and playability is as good as a PRS. Tight grained rosewood fingerboard and a figured ash body, makes it stand out. The noiseless N3 pick ups, plus the series, parallel combination adds to the fun of playing this guitar. Even Fender's custom shop guitars are the same quality as this one, without spending three time what this one costs. The only thing I do not like is the weight, I know every guitar player has there preference on the construction of an instrument, but I'm an older player. I like the vintage style ash bodies and the large headstock models. fender does make them. but only in there custom shop and for a premium! Unless you go Mexican:(. This is only my opinion, I can't tell you what guitar is right for you, that is for you to decide. In addition, Musician's friend is the best place to shop, There customer service and overall satisfaction is tops and they matched a competitors price, plus they updated me on the shipping date and if I have any problem they would be happy to ship it back free of charge.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash Electric Guitar:

I never owned a new electric guitar before but it's always been a dream of mine. I've worked full time all my life and never had the time to be as good as I would have liked to be. Also teaching resources have always been limited where I live and I never received much for quality instruction. Thank God for the internet. I plan to retire in the next four years or so and plan on making nice music a big part of my life while taking more time to play for the disadvantaged children I've worked with for the past 26 years. I figured that if I'm going to spend the money I'm going to make sure it's what I really want. I searched and research for 18 months and decided on this one. I am very pleased and have absolutely no disappointments. The only thing that I wanted different was to buy a fancy pick guard and that was easy enough to change over on my kitchen table. The folks at Musician's Friend also gave me the option of getting a guitar case of my choosing which they didn't need to do. I sincerely want to thank Musician's Friend for helping me fulfill my dreams. You have a customer for life!

I have been playing guitar a very long time and have played all major brands of guitars. This particular Fender (ash body & noiseless pickups) is a great sounding instrument. From the stunning looks, build quality, tone, feel, etc, it speaks for itself. I do all of my own guitar repairs and setups and I must say that this guitar actually arrived ready to play, had perfect intonation, and was still in tune! A great, timeless guitar that is always ready to rock! Great job, Fender!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash Electric Guitar:

This is a classic, and you all know what a strat is. An american stratocaster is a landmark, so I would like to just point out some issues that I had with this guitar.

The handle of the case broke after a year or so, and I had only transported the guitar to the car once a week. No heavy handling. So I had to stich it up and used some rope.

One of the tone controls hangs up when it's turned all the way to 10. I have to change that as well. After two years of moderate playing the neck pickup suddenly started to give me problems. A bad connection somewhere, so I have to wiggle to make it work.

Besides that it is a great guitar, it stays in tune, and plays well. But I expected more quality from Fender.

          Nice, but no big deal!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash Electric Guitar:

A bit overpriced. I sold two Mexican Deluxe Player Strats to have this and I regret it. My MIM sounded just as good. And I know what I'm talking about, I've been repairing and customizing guitars for over 20 years now and I specialize in Fender guitars. I've been a Strat player for most of my career. I didn't like the sound of the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless so I took them out and replaced them with my favorite; Vintage Noiseless. I didn't care much for the S-1 switching either, so I took it out. I'll admit, the S-1 offers some great and usable tones and options...it just wasn't my thing and I took it out after I realized that I wasn't even using it. The recessed heel is pretty cool...no big deal, but cool. I love ash wood bodies on Strats so I was happy with that. Beautiful finnish (Tobacco Sunburst). Locking tuners are nice and effective although I don't have any issues with the regular or the vintage tuners, but it's nice to have. The truth in my case was that if you notice, I ended up down-grading this guitar and came up with something similar to the two MIM Deluxe Player Stratocasters I had in the first place. I could have bought an American Standard and up-graded it to almost this for much less. It's not a bad guitar at all, it sounds and plays great with tons of cool features and beautiful finishes. I just don't see, hear, or feel the price it costs, that's all. But if you want a top of the line American Made Fender Strat then go ahead and spend your cash on this one. But you don't have to....up-grading an American Standard or even a Mexican made Strat will yield similar results without spending as much.
Some pretty cool pick-up configurations, ash body, and a nice neck heel. Otherwise, a regular Strat.
Great quality, like any other Fender.

Very beautiful guitar with quality through-out. The N-3 pickups are very expressive and versitile with the S-1 switching. I have had many Strats and this one tops them all. None have had this comfortable compound radius neck before.

          The reason it's a DELUXE

          By

          from Skokie, IL

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash Electric Guitar:

Hi, I bought this guitar in 2006. It has SCN pickups with S-1 switch, 12" radius fretboard (not the new compound radius), and tobacco sunburst finish. After playing this guitar for 5 years, here are my humble opinions.First, SCN pickups sound fantastic. I have used it with amp modelers (line6,boss) to quality tube amps(Carvin,Fender,Mesa,Star). Cleans sound the best. Overdriven sounds very tubey. As with other reviewers, I would say that S-1 switch does not offer much. However, that's only when I'm playing clean. When I play thru heavily overdriven amp, the S-1 switch does amazing job to provide humbucker sound. It also helps cut through the mix especially using the bridge pickup. Therefore, S-1 switch adds versatility to my guitar sound. I don't have to use it, but it's there when I need it.Second, the neck is as smooth as silk, beautiful abalone dots, and perfect finish showing grain of the ash body. For me, appearance of the guitar is important. Many people will say that American Deluxe Ash is overpriced. It may be. But if you research what you are paying for, you are actually paying for the high quality wood plus the cost of making the guitar in USA with modern technology. So for me, I didn't feel like I paid a lot for it. You be the judge, but don't just assume: research it, play it, and compare it.Overall, I think this guitar is well worth it. For the last 5 years, other guitars have come and go, but this guitar is still with me.
