Incredible tonal versatility on a distinctly American axe.

The Fender American Standard Series Stratocaster HSS is a perfect electric guitar for players who like big, fat humbucker tone. Redesigned with improvements that include the modern C-shaped maple neck with glossed neck front and satin polyurethane finish on back for smooth playability. Bent steel Fender saddles with classic look and great tone. String spacing narrowed for modern playability, saddle height screws re-sized to reduce rough feel, and string slot on saddle elongated to reduce string friction or breakage. Custom staggered tuning machines eliminate the need for one of the string trees. Staggered pole pieces in the pickups provide balanced output across all strings, and specifically improves the G-string's tone. Two-point trem, rosewood or maple fretboard, and genuine Fender American craftsmanship add up to a Fat Strat style guitar that is a dream come true.

The return of the American Standard Series Strat continues Fender's tradition of commitment to the people who play Fender instruments out there in the real world. Today's American Standard Stratocaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors--mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments legendary in the first place. Improvements include redesigned bridges, neck and body finishes, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Still there are the beloved hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)! So make history with the redesigned American Standard!

Redesigned American Standard Strat® Bridge

Gives sought-after tone with modern smooth trem travel. Block retains the mass and tone of a vintage bridge block, but is chamfered for access to deeper dives. Saddles have the classic look and tone, but with modern improvements (spacing, slot elongation, height screw length).

Bridge Component Specifics

'American Standard' saddles- The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo'. Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and fell in love with them all over again. They have a wider tonal range and more character many other saddles. Then Fender improved them; narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), and also elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, while improving the string break angle over the primary contact point.

'Tone-fusion' block- A typical cast bridge block is impregnated with a resin to eliminate 'voids' in the material and to bond it together… this steel block is infused with copper, which makes the block 100% homogeneous metal. The result is a more musical, higher mass bridge that has more of that machined-block sound. Fender was also able to keep the same American Series profile for increased tremolo travel.

American Standard HSS Strat- one great guitar

Features:

I got this in a few days after ordering it. There was one small dent in the upper part of the body but not enjough to send it back. I got the Sienna Sunburst with the Maple neck. it's beautiful looking.

The service from MF was great.

The guitar sounds really fantastic. Action was very low and no fret buzz. The Humbucker really cranks nicely.

I was thinking of buying the MIM HSS witth the Floyd Rose tremelo but decided on putting a little bit more and getting the American HSS. Glad I did.

This is one great guitar. I love it.

Quality:

Quality would have been a 10 if there wasn't the small ( about 1/2 inch) dent in the upper part of the body.

Overall:

Overall it's a great guitar, came with a really nice Fender hard case. this should be the last guitar I ever buy.

Features:

An American made strat with a humbucker? The sound of power! Comes with a case that should be able to care for this baby right. The Fender shoulder strap that also comes with this model was quite comfortable and fits me just fine. The guitar cord that came with it was on the basic side of things but I already had a better gold Planet Waves cord so this will be a back up.

Quality:

Finish is clean and clear. I got the S. Sunburst with the maple neck and it looks like a masterpiece. I know this will cause some of you out there to grown with envy, but this is my first Strat I've ever owned. I was lucky enough to be able to afford this model instead of buying cheaper and later on wanting to/needing to upgrade. I figure I want something that will last, sound spectacular, and never need to be replaced. This Strat is it for sure! Unlike the neck on the 2 Gibson Special Humbuckers that had frets so sharp they could cut your palms (both returned!), the neck on this Strat was smooth, fast, and perfect. This guitar was made by people that cared about creating something that the end user would want and love. Not a Tennesse corporation trying to low cost a process to make more profit. The sound this Strat gives has many options through switching and the sustain, though not quite as long as that from my SG with P90 pickups, has its own unique thick flavor. The set up and action on the one I got was perfect, low, and comfortable.

Value:

Yes, this Strat is not cheap by any means. But consider this. You buy another guitar for half the price. In two or three years (or even less) you will play one of these Strats that a friend has or at your local music store and you will have to have one. In my book, if you buy now, you'll be saving yourself money in the long run as well as have that much more "hands-on" time with the guitar you will end up with anyway. Think of all that music you will be able to create with this instrument in that extra time you buy yourself.

Overall:

Overall I know I will never regret this purchase. Like most of you reading this, it took me a long time to actually pull the trigger on a 1K plus purchase. I spent hours on line reading, dreaming, and wondering about if I could and if I should. It all boiled down to this for me. Money comes and goes, time will never stop, happiness is in creating something from your own heart. This guitar MAY make you have less money but it WILL make you happy! Money disappears just as we all will. Music will never die. Get this guitar and live your life.

Excellent value.  Bought "gently used" instrument and it looked virtually new out of the box.  Very happy with tone....having the humbucker on board really improves the versatility of this guitar.  Beware....no strap or cable in the case even though new guitars come with both.  I guess that's the chance you take with buying used.  No worries, though, since the guitar is a joy to play.

Favorite Guitar Ever!

| Review By: John Zappala | 5 months, 2 weeks ago

Features:

Best guitar that I've ever had.  I've been through many, both American and imports.  Strat styles, American Les Pauls... This is my favorite.  I can do anything with this guitar.  The pickups are well matched and balanced.  A little crunch on my amp gives great tones from the HB and cleaner, but still crunchy blues tones, with the single coils.  The volume balance between the singles and Hb is excellent.  I am truly happy with this guitar.  Super tone and feel.

Quality:

My guitar is top notch!  But its my second one.  The first one that was shipped to me was good, but I felt that the high e string was a little close to the edge of the fretboard.  I returned it and asked for another.  The second one I received was perfect!

Value:

I cant believe the price!  Combined with my holiday coupons, I feel like I got the best deal ever!

Overall:

Highly recommended!

Very Nice Guitar Overall.

Features:

Plays nice.  I added Fender Schaller locking tuners.  And will probably replace the pickups. They're OK.  But the 60 cycle hum is just a little too annoying.

Quality:

Guitar was pretty much ready to play out of the box.  Very well made and QC is good.  Things like it was intonated and and setup pretty well at delivery.  Basically tune 'er up and start playing.

Value:

At the price I paid it's a pretty good value.

Overall:

Nice SKB ata approved case.  Overall very nice guitar.
