Incredible tonal versatility on a distinctly American axe.

The Fender American Standard Series Stratocaster HSS is a perfect electric guitar for players who like big, fat humbucker tone. It features the modern C-shaped maple neck with glossed neck front and satin polyurethane finish on back for smooth playability. Bent steel Fender saddles with classic look and great tone. String spacing narrowed for modern playability, saddle height screws re-sized to reduce rough feel, and string slot on saddle elongated to reduce string friction or breakage. Custom staggered tuning machines eliminate the need for one of the string trees. Staggered pole pieces in the pickups provide balanced output across all strings, and specifically improves the G-string's tone. Two-point trem, rosewood or maple fretboard, and genuine Fender American craftsmanship add up to a Fat Strat style guitar that is a dream come true.

The return of the American Standard Series Strat continues Fender's tradition of commitment to the people who play Fender instruments out there in the real world. Today's American Standard Stratocaster guitars are worthy heirs of their revered ancestors--mindful of player needs and taking full advantage of modern advances, yet remaining completely true to the elements and spirit that made these instruments legendary in the first place. They feature excellent bridges, neck and body finishes, and a Fender-exclusive high-tech molded case. Still there are the beloved hand-rolled fingerboard edges, alnico V pickups and staggered tuning machines for tone and stability guaranteed to last a lifetime (with its limited lifetime warranty)! So make history with the American Standard!

    American Standard Strat® Bridge
Gives sought-after tone with modern smooth trem travel. Block retains the mass and tone of a vintage bridge block, but is chamfered for access to deeper dives. Saddles have the classic look and tone, but with modern improvements (spacing, slot elongation, height screw length).

    Bridge Component Specifics
American Standard' saddles- The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo'. Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and fell in love with them all over again. They have a wider tonal range and more character many other saddles. Then Fender improved them; narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), and also elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, while improving the string break angle over the primary contact point.

'Tone-fusion' block- A typical cast bridge block is impregnated with a resin to eliminate 'voids' in the material and to bond it together… this steel block is infused with copper, which makes the block 100% homogeneous metal. The result is a more musical, higher mass bridge that has more of that machined-block sound. Fender was also able to keep the same American Series profile for increased tremolo travel.

Overall I know I will never regret this purchase. Like most of you reading this, it took me a long time to actually pull the trigger on a 1K plus purchase. I spent hours on line reading, dreaming, and wondering about if I could and if I should. It all boiled down to this for me. Money comes and goes, time will never stop, happiness is in creating something from your own heart. This guitar MAY make you have less money but it WILL make you happy! Money disappears just as we all will. Music will never die. Get this guitar and live your life.
An American made strat with a humbucker? The sound of power! Comes with a case that should be able to care for this baby right. The Fender shoulder strap that also comes with this model was quite comfortable and fits me just fine. The guitar cord that came with it was on the basic side of things but I already had a better gold Planet Waves cord so this will be a back up.
Finish is clean and clear. I got the S. Sunburst with the maple neck and it looks like a masterpiece. I know this will cause some of you out there to grown with envy, but this is my first Strat I've ever owned. I was lucky enough to be able to afford this model instead of buying cheaper and later on wanting to/needing to upgrade. I figure I want something that will last, sound spectacular, and never need to be replaced. This Strat is it for sure! Unlike the neck on the 2 Gibson Special Humbuckers that had frets so sharp they could cut your palms (both returned!), the neck on this Strat was smooth, fast, and perfect. This guitar was made by people that cared about creating something that the end user would want and love. Not a Tennesse corporation trying to low cost a process to make more profit. The sound this Strat gives has many options through switching and the sustain, though not quite as long as that from my SG with P90 pickups, has its own unique thick flavor. The set up and action on the one I got was perfect, low, and comfortable.
Yes, this Strat is not cheap by any means. But consider this. You buy another guitar for half the price. In two or three years (or even less) you will play one of these Strats that a friend has or at your local music store and you will have to have one. In my book, if you buy now, you'll be saving yourself money in the long run as well as have that much more "hands-on" time with the guitar you will end up with anyway. Think of all that music you will be able to create with this instrument in that extra time you buy yourself.

I bought a new 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst as teenager and had to sell it to help fund college. It was my favorite guitar that I have ever owned, but this Strat is very close. After I sold the Paul, I quit playing for 30 years and I'm getting back into it now. Both of my kids play in the band and I guess they inspired me to start playing again. I always wanted a Strat back then, so I picked this one because of the beauty and price. I made the right choice, its easy to play, beautiful, sounds wonderful, and produces so many tonal options. The fingers don't move as fast as they use to, but its all coming back. If your like me and thinking about playing again or you never stopped, then try this guitar, I don't think you will be disappointed.
I can't imagine another guitar that could produce so many different sounds. It suprises me everyday, I seem to be able to create something new every time I pick it up. Gilmour, Page, and Trower stuff sounds equally great on this guitar.
Beautiful finish and quality materials for a non-custom guitar. Great workmanship.
Probably the best guitar for the money out there.

American Standard HSS Strat- one great guitar

      By Scotty

      from Central Florida

Comments about Fender American Standard HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Overall it's a great guitar, came with a really nice Fender hard case. this should be the last guitar I ever buy.
I got this in a few days after ordering it. There was one small dent in the upper part of the body but not enjough to send it back. I got the Sienna Sunburst with the Maple neck. it's beautiful looking.
The service from MF was great.
The guitar sounds really fantastic. Action was very low and no fret buzz. The Humbucker really cranks nicely.
I was thinking of buying the MIM HSS witth the Floyd Rose tremelo but decided on putting a little bit more and getting the American HSS. Glad I did.
This is one great guitar. I love it.
Quality would have been a 10 if there wasn't the small ( about 1/2 inch) dent in the upper part of the body.

      Good value

      By J-Rod

      from Upstate NY

Comments about Fender American Standard HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Excellent value. Bought "gently used" instrument and it looked virtually new out of the box. Very happy with tone....having the humbucker on board really improves the versatility of this guitar. Beware....no strap or cable in the case even though new guitars come with both. I guess that's the chance you take with buying used. No worries, though, since the guitar is a joy to play.

      Favorite Guitar Ever!

      By John Zappala

      from Boston

Comments about Fender American Standard HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

      Highly recommended!
Best guitar that I've ever had. I've been through many, both American and imports. Strat styles, American Les Pauls... This is my favorite. I can do anything with this guitar. The pickups are well matched and balanced. A little crunch on my amp gives great tones from the HB and cleaner, but still crunchy blues tones, with the single coils. The volume balance between the singles and Hb is excellent. I am truly happy with this guitar. Super tone and feel.
My guitar is top notch! But its my second one. The first one that was shipped to me was good, but I felt that the high e string was a little close to the edge of the fretboard. I returned it and asked for another. The second one I received was perfect!
I cant believe the price! Combined with my holiday coupons, I feel like I got the best deal ever!

      Very Nice Guitar Overall.

Comments about Fender American Standard HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Nice SKB ata approved case. Overall very nice guitar.
Plays nice. I added Fender Schaller locking tuners. And will probably replace the pickups. They're OK. But the 60 cycle hum is just a little too annoying.
Guitar was pretty much ready to play out of the box. Very well made and QC is good. Things like it was intonated and and setup pretty well at delivery. Basically tune 'er up and start playing.
At the price I paid it's a pretty good value.

bottom line: professional quality guitar for a reasonable price

      By Kim Wilson

      from Woodstock, GA

Comments about Fender American Standard HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Bottom line: This is an amazing guitar with loads of tonal options and a comfortable feel for a good price. I'm a strat guy, so maybe I'm biased, but if you love the guitar tone of Hendrix, Clapton, RHCP, SRV, and Mark Knopfler, then the strat is the right guitar.
The American Standard HSS Stratocaster is the perfect guitar because it provides a wide variety of tonal options as well as very comfortable playability. I teach guitar lessons for a living and also play lead guitar in a gigging band, and I have used a variety of guitars, pickups, and amps to try and find the sound I want and I always come back to my strat. The C-shape neck with hand rolled edges, contoured body, and tremolo bridge make it the most comfortable guitar I have played. I bought the ash sienna sunburst strat, and it's nice because the grain of the wood really stands out as well as being a bit lighter! I have played 4 different guitars throughout my playing career: The American Standard HSS Strat, a Gibson SG Standard, a PRS Custom 24, and a Custom Mexican Strat- I love them all, but for gigs and everyday playing, the American HSS has got to be my favorite.

The two single coils provide woody, classic strat tones for great blues, funk, country, jazz, and rock tones, and the humbucker gives you that high output pickup for heavier rock, metal, and lead guitar work. With these options, you can attain the classic strat tone and also more gibsonesque humbucker tones. For a wide range of tones, this guitar is great. I use primarily for reggae, rock, blues, and funk, but it can do pretty much anything you need it to.
The guitar is fantastic right out of the factory, but for someone with a more discerning taste in guitars I'd suggest taking the guitar to your favorite luthier for a professional setup and maybe a little fret work. When I bought my strat there were a few sour spots on the neck on the G and B strings on the 17th fret, and that is a spot that a lead guitarist frequently uses, so I took it to my tech and had him do a little filing on the frets and it's playing as smooth as a piano!

The stock pickups are great, I changed them and realized eventually that I preferred the sound of the stock pickups, so I reinstalled them.
When I bought mine, it was definitely a fair price. It is a professional level guitar good enough for any musician, and the price is very reasonable for this quality of a guitar. You will pay more for the same level of quality in a PRS or a Gibson, go with the Strat! Also, the case it comes with is very nice and will last you through many a gig!

This guitar is a real beauty. I've played piano all my life but always wanted to learn the guitar. I'm a hugh Clapton fan so I chose the strat in black with the maple neck. I'm taching myseeeeelf to play until I find a good teacher. Reading music really helps/
The quality is simply fantastic. Great finish and workmanship.
I feel this fine instrument in a great value for the price/

      Great Guitar

      By Chris J

Comments about Fender American Standard HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

      Amazing guitar, go get it
I got this guitar in November of 2010, and made sure to take my time before writing a review. iT'S AWESOME! It was a toss up between an sg and a les paul, and i picked this because i had a good strat that i liked before. Also, I got this guitar because of it's versatiliy, 2 single coils and a humbuckers COME IN HANDY. I play through a fender tube amp in a few bands, and this guitar never fails me. I didn't give it all 10 because it COULD have more things, but it's a freaken great guitar. Id get it again a million times. Its lightweight, got a great sound, very comfortable to play, sounds great. I play punk/rock/metal, then switch to a nice clean country/pop sound by just flipping the switch. the transition is seemless. really, great guitar, if you're considering others, just get this, you won't be sorry. I got it in 3 tone sunburst with a maple fretboard, best look in my opinion. IT really looks greaaaaaaat.
