I play country and always wanted a tele after playing a Custom Les Paul for years. My wife said I could buy one if she could pick out the color so I had to let her (It was an HS Chrome Blue)!! I was scared at frist cause I knew nothing of this tele design but after 2 years of playing it, it is my go to guitar! I love me Les Paul (given to me from my late DAD), and I love my Ibanez GIO (that was the first guitar I bought with my own money), but this Tele is the perfect fit!! Great play ability, smooth light feel, great tuneability and tone, and even though I bought it because of my wife (even though she is not a musician)I feel I made the perfect choice. A perfect all around country, jazz, and possible (if right amp)Meatl guitar. I have played country, jazz, blues, and my metalhead (friend/master) has played it and it sounds great thru all styles!! It is ashamed it was discontinued but great for my kids!! They will reap the profits when I am gone!!
I mostly play music that requires a smooth, full clean sound, or a slightly overdriven sustaining sound. This tele works perfectly for that. The middle position switch gives a beautiful smooth tone a la Explosions in the Sky and the fully single coil position has a nice smooth crunch when you kick in distortion. Overall this guitar sounds beautiful, but if you play metal and need something snarling for viscious leads, this isn't for you.
I have been hunting for the ultimate country/jazz guitar and I found it. This guitar came out of the box in mint condition. (UPS warped the case) I played one of these in a local music store and fell face first in love with it. It's a honky tonkin machine that goes from western swing chord jumping to a chicken dancing on a hot plate without even grunting. Im not a big fan of Fender as of late but this one turned me around. No matter what "style" you play, give one a try at a store somewhere and please.. Don't play it through a solid state amp. Thats like eating hot dogs on fine china.
good playing, lots of tone chioces with S1, great fit and finish, excellent tone from double humbucker. action superior, construction very good.would replace with the same if stolen.
This guitar has some very nice qualities. Play is very smooth and easy. Action is fast, very fast. Has that signature Fender sound. Bridge pick up biting, middle positon and neck pick up are smooth and pretty. S-1 switch is convienient to use, and a nice feature. Gives more bottom, really bluesy sound. Again very pretty sounding with or without switch engaged. Guitar is attractive and relatively light weight. Easy to set up, and stays in tune even with lots of bending or heavy strumming. What's not to like? Overall great guitar.
I have never heard a guitar which can play so many music-styles! It plays great, but I find the high e-string and d-string a bit too bright sounding. Can somebody tell me how to solve this, maybe with other p/u or an effect pedal? I am a beginner so I don't know if the Fender ENFORCER humbuckers are good pick-ups.
Finally, there's a "standard" telecaster with a humbcking pickup in the neck position. I love playing it because it's not like a throwback type guitar. The tones are really awesome from the "s-1 switching system." I give the quality 9 because of the strings it comes with a brittle. So have extra B's and high E's ready ;).
This guitar is kind of like the guitar you've always wanted but Fender would never build. I love that humbucker in the neck position. The single coil is of course the "back burner". Classic Fender Telecaster Single Coil i.e. an ice pick in the forehead. The humbucker up front makes this a very handy guitar. It can do blues, jazz, classic rock, rock and darn near metal. I play it through I Fender Twin, a Fender Hot Rod Deville 2x12 and a Pod XT and this one guitar can cover a lot of ground. I'm not going to B.S. and say it'll sound like anything but for all practical purposes, it'll cover anything you run into at any standard party gig. Don't think Fender is cutting corners at keeping this under a grand. I bought mine about 8 months ago in Chrome Red and it had had it's fair share of drops, knock overs, drinks dumped on it, sweat pour down it and it always cleans up and there's not a nick to be found on it. This finish is TOUGH. I like this guitar so well I'm ordering another right now in blue just in case Fender decides not to build them anymore. Get yours today. Keep playing brothers and sisters!!!
