This is truly an amazing instrument. I've spent that past few months playing a wide array of guitars, looking for something that was a cut above the rest. I've found it.The wonderful thing about the American Vintage 70s Strat is that you can go down to your local music shop, play it back-to-back against all the American Standards on the wall, and actually hear an astounding difference. You can also really hear the way the guitar responds dynamically to different playing styles. The mids and bass are lush and mellow if you ease off your attack a bit. But, dig in, and you're immediately rewarded an even punch that seems to make every note sound important. The high-end tone is, of course, everything you've come to expect from the early days of the Stratocaster: bright and bell-like with a warmth that really sings, especially when thrown into overdrive. You can bend notes into oblivion with incredibly full sustain.Honestly, this guitar is really inspiring. I don't want to put it down. I guarantee you won't play anything quite like it. But don't take my word for it; see for yourself.

Like others in this review list I've also owned a couple original 70s era Strats. One was a 73 in cream color with maple board ala Malmsteen and another was a 78 in black with rosewood board and black p/guard. The 73 was light and airy & sounded beautiful. Very Hendrix like with the neck p/up but it suffered from a loose shifty neck do to the lousy fitting and the 3 screw neck plate. The 78 weighed a ton and sounded like shit with very little if any typical Strat tonal character. I paid only about $300 apiece for them back in the mid 1980s and it makes me sick to see what prices they bring now. This new American made 70s Reissue Strat is head and shoulders above either of those originals I owned in both fit / finish and in the tone dept. It also sounds wonderful when played unplugged which is always a good sign. It's just a beautifully made instrument in all respects. Mine is a clear coat with a beautiful wavy figured ash body. I've always loved the looks of the larger headstock too. This is how Fender (should) have made them in 70s.

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
I have a lot of Fender guitars and I think the Japanese Fender and some high-end Mexican models are better than those made in the U.S., you only pay the American pride.

Purchased last year.I've gotten comliments from fellow guitar players. This Strat definitely has that sound and feel from the 70's.The tonal quality is unbelievable. I play it through a Fender Ultimate Chorus DSP amp.So you can imagine.I love the extra jumbo frets and large headstock.I do miss that 22nd fret though. This is an awesome axe.I would like to get a Strat from the 70's to add to my collection.

Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
For years my main axe has been a Les Paul. My wife and kids surprised me the 70's reissue for my 60th birthday. Knock me out. While I'm still learning the Strat's tonal and sonic possibilities, what it's produced so far is amazing. It plays with exceptional ease and comfort. The clear ash w/ the non-poly finish is absolutely stunning. I tell my player friends it's like driving a top end Mercedes, and when they take the Strat for a spin, they all agree...drooling all the way to the track. Thanks, Leo.
Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
Neck is absolute butter. Very high quality Birdseye Maple and smooth finish. Almost seems Custom Shop quality. The "U" contour does feel a little different than the "C", but overall very comfortable. I think the vintage frets that come with it are more comfortable than medium jumbo found on newer Strats. It would be nice if it had the 9.5" fretboard radius like the newer models, but it still is relatively easy to bend the strings. Natural/Ash body wood grain really stands out, and the finish is again like glass. It is well-balanced and a bit lighter than Alder. The gray-bobbin pickups have a bit more "ring" to them, they are bright but not to bright and great for a more rock oriented sound. Can't go wrong with this axe.
Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
I always wanted a 70's re-issue in Natural with a Maple board and I was considering buying a Classic Series. I noticed that Fender had now released an American Vintage 70s. So I bought one. The one I got is an ash body in 3 colour sunburst with a rosewood board (this one was available. I'm delighted to say it has the best sound of any Strat I've owned. Blows my Custom Shop 66 and my American Texas Special out of the water. The U shaped neck on these beauties is wonderful; very comfortable. Just feels great. If you want a wonderful sounding, beautifully built Strat that just sings, then you have to get one of these.
Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
I used to be a gibson guy. I own a SG and my dad has a 68 GOldtop, PRICELESS. I always thought Gibson>Fender. Now i believe they are almost even thanks to this brilliant guitar. The look is fasinating. The sound clean and makes you wanna start to get up and really feel the sound of the guitar, no matter what style. I mainly play blue and indie rock on this gutiar. I believe that this is a really great guitar and is a must-have for any guitarist.
Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
The 70's USA Strat is by far the best strat I have ever played. The neck feels wonderful and easy to play. The sustain if by far the best sustain on any strat. I love the natural with Rosewood Fretboard. The pickups sound awesome especially in the neck position. I have owned two other Strats that don't even compare to the USA 70's.
Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
This must be the best fender I've ever played. The hot Rod is nice too but this one, man. My dad got this guitar, and now about to hand it to me and I can't wait. I borrowed it for a couple times and the sound blew me away. I got the 3 tone maple fretboard and the guitar is beautiful! Totally worth it.
Comments about Fender American Vintage Series '70s Stratocaster Reissue Electric Guitar:
I currently own 3 Stratocasters: 1975 natural [US], 1994 white 72? reissue [Japan], and my latest 3-colour sunburst Fender USA '70s Stratocaster.I purchased mine site unseen and it must have been fate because the body and rosewood fret board have lovely wood grain. I did need to have it professionally set-up to resolve fret swell and break it in to stay in tune longer. The Strat is improved from my 75? as the finish is much richer. The vintage style single-coil Strat pickups with Alnico 5 magnets are bright and it does not have the loud hum as with my 75.?I selected this model largely due to the large headstock which I feel provides greater sustain and that it is made in the US. I do not recommend keeping in the spring for the tremolo bar and needed to make adjustments to the spring [tremolo under body], to alleviate an unusual noise which was most disturbing.
