Liven up your Saturday nights.

As a child during the early 1960s, George Edward "G.E." Smith got a Telecaster guitar for his birthday and never looked back. Through his six hit-making years with Hall and Oates, his decade-long run as Saturday Night Live bandleader, and his touring stints with Bob Dylan, Smith is widely hailed as a modern master of the Telecaster.

In his honor, Fender created this new Artist Series Tele, a special guitar that combines a '40s-era Fender lap steel with a '50s-era Telecaster. Features include a large U-shaped maple neck, lap steel "oval and diamond" fingerboard inlays, custom cutoff vintage-style bridge plate, and body-mounted bridge pickup.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Features

  • Premium ash body
  • One-piece maple U-shaped neck
  • Maple fingerboard, 7-1/4" radius
  • 25-1/2" scale
  • 21 vintage-style frets
  • 2 American Vintage Tele pickups
  • One body-mounted bridge pickup
  • Master volume and tone controls
  • 3 position switching

Order today and become a master of licks, just like G.E., with this Tele.

best tele for tone for the $

By rustydusty

from canyon lake, tx

Comments about Fender Artist Series G.E. Smith Telecaster:

I have tried or owned almost ALL possible tele's, including the copies from high end craftsmen. This on just nails the best of the Telecaster tones. The neck is large. you get used to it. You'll need to sift for the lighter weight ones - - some I've seen are too heavy. I got mine when the model was fairly new and it only cost 1,100 dollars then. A much better value in those days, only a couple years ago. Seriously, - screw all the custom shop models (unless you are a collector) as this workhorse just shines in a gig situation.

This does what I hoped it would do

By Tied

Comments about Fender Artist Series G.E. Smith Telecaster:

I 'd been looking at the Fender G.E. Smith Artist Series Telecaster for a year before I ordered it. I had owned other guitars in the past with fatter profile necks and they seemed less fatiguing for me to play. This guitar has a neck like a baseball bat. It is doing just what I hoped it would do. Otherwise, there is miniscule difference in tones between this model and other premium Fender Telecasters with the vintage pickups. The fit, finish, and factory set up were flawless on my guitar.

Best guitar I have owned/played

By TelesCanRock

from Indiana

Comments about Fender Artist Series G.E. Smith Telecaster:

I bought this after seeing the G.E. Smith video on it. Tried an Am Deluxe tele, Standard, and MIM. But this one..OMG. The tone is so 3D, so sweet and the bridge PU can ROCK without feedback or screech. Compared to the Am Deluxe, the sound is much more complex and addictive. I play through a Fender Princeton reverb RI and the tone is to die for. I also use a Vox Satchurator pedal and get great OD. The workmanship on this guitar is top notch and beat out every Gibson I have ever owned or tried out. Not one flaw to be found and it arrived not only with low buzz free action, but IN TUNE! Amazing. The tuners are rock solid. The case with its orange plush interior is icing on the cake. If you have not yet seen the video, hop over to youtube and type in GE smith to see why this guitar is so special. 5 stars!

Pretty Good

Comments about Fender Artist Series G.E. Smith Telecaster:

I played this and It was pretty good. But I thought the neck was a little big and a little too glossy. But I like the vintage Twang and the fret markers are cool.

Best Tele around, Its addictive!

By Saul-N_3Wp

Comments about Fender Artist Series G.E. Smith Telecaster:

I play through a Orange Rockoverb with a Dr Z cab with Greenback and Eminence speakers, with all analog pedals. My Gain is at 6, and when I play this guitar just amazingly has so much output but is crystal clean at same time (hard to explain), but I have 3k PRS's, Les Paul's, Strats, and Tele's, all of the prior are american mades also. This guitar is my favorite by such a long shot that for a backup I sold my 20th 10 top PRS anniversary custom, to buy another. Action and neck play smoother than anything Ive ever tried. Dont let that single coil bridge fool you, this guitar with give output similar to any humbucker and only feedback is good controlable feedback.
