Comments about Fender Avril Lavigne Newporter Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar 3 months ago on sale, I waited to review it. Truly, I bought this for my nephew but I will get him a fg700. This is a great guitar and it has a solid mahogany top. I played the 2 other Fenders in the price range this is better, I played a dozen new guitars from 200 to 400 range and this and the Ibanez ac240 were the best along with the Yamahas. I chose this over the ac240 because it was less money at the time. The sound is good, maybe a little twangy for some but it has a Fender feel.

People really like the sound acoustically. The pick up works great, the tuner is average, I use my snark.

Comments about Fender Avril Lavigne Newporter Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm very happy with this guitar. For the price I paid its way more than I expected. Purchased it to take with me on road trips and didn't want to spend to much $$ but with Musicians Friends special deals, I feel like I scored on this one.

      Sleeper

      By Gheezer

Comments about Fender Avril Lavigne Newporter Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is way better than expected. It is a victim of: a) its own cosmetics; and b) incorrect specifications from Fender that have been replicated all over the internet. It is not a short-scale, it is about 25.4". The neck feels very natural and comfortable. Tuners and straight string run work great. But the main thing is the tone. It has the essence of the mahogany it is, but with a nice little shimmer and life that so many hogs lack. A great example would be Fender's own Tim Armstrong Hellcat; it doesn't hold a candle to this. I tried one locally, and it had the same balance and life, so there is some consistency.

So if you can ignore the decorations, and depending on your taste, the signature, then this is a very good buy, especially when on sale. I've had this about 6 months, and it is the first one I grab when I have a few minutes to play.

Comments about Fender Avril Lavigne Newporter Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I ordered thes because the specs claim that it has a 23.3" scale. In fact the scale is 25.4".Since I wanted the short scale length I sent it back. However, I did try the guitar both unplugged and plugged in.The unamplified sound is alright and will probably improve quickly because of the solid mahoany top. The plugged in sound is very good. The output of the Fishman pickup and preamp is about three times stronger than my other acoustic electric guitars. The extra output makes the eq work better than on other guitars. It also seemed to make any effects such as reveerb and compression work better. If yoou don't need a cutaway it's worth the sale price.
