Wanted to review the MIM Blacktop since it has been my "go to" guitar as of late; wanted to get the word out there, it is fairly new and players cannot find many reviews on it!

Currently own many types/styles of guitars, tried several of the Jag/Jazz modifieds and an MIM Classic sold here, also an old Vista from Japan, mostly disappointed with em', just no real change up in sound or expression, other issues too!

But the Jaguar B90 is the keeper, it really gives ya the quality, performance and solid feel of a more expensive instrument! In my opinion, it is the P90's, the massive alder body, and the stop tailpiece setup--which solves many age old problems. There is some kinda alchemy in this combination 4 sure! Seems like the Jag/Jazz tremolo models lack stable tuning, and also fall behind in fullness of tone and sustain!

Compared with Stratocasters, which truly are are great guitars[we love 'em] but they are rarely this punchy, thick and warm. The Blacktop has the mass of a Paul but adds the classic Fender P90 bite and wine that so many players are seeking today, git ready for a guitar with a rather unique single coil voice, gotta feeling that most working musicians might appreciate adding a Blacktop to their guitar arsenal! We set up this one up with 11-48 Power Slinky[all good-recommended]and yes, the bigger strings are a game changer, ask SRV when ya see him!

Anyways, this is my experience, not my prejudice or bias, still play the traditional Pauls and Strats and ES335 styles; tried and true for sure, but just wanted ya to know that the Fender Blacktop B90 falls between the classic designs we know and love, For me, there is much to like about this model! Take Care All-- PLAY GUITAR!

I was very excited when I first got ahold of this cool looking guitar but when I plugged it in I found that it had arrived to me with a dead neck pick up. MF was happy to exchange the guitar for me but, for me, all the time and hassle of shipping back and forth was a total bummer so I called Fender and bought a new pick up. Will install myself. If not for the dead PU I would be very happy with this purchase as this is a cool guitar for the money.

I could play on this thing all day. It's quite the sweet fender. It's simple, but very effective.I really couldn't find any flaws on it.There is no 60hz hum.Seems to stay in tune over time.If you are looking for a great basic fender ax,without disappointment this will work.

Pulling this out the box, it was beautiful. Amazing guitar, and it puts the the Jaguar straight to point by removing all the controls from the guitar. Sadly it came with a shorting out pickup selector. If you're buying online, I immediately suggest you get a setup and get it checked out.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Jaguar B90 Electric Guitar:

Just finished playing a New Years Eve show last night and decided to take this Amazing little Jag and my Les Paul (just in case). To start with, I know there are purist out there that think if its not an american Jag, it's not a Jag. I agree so much as it doesn't have all the switches and controls but let me tell you that this stripped down version is no slacker. We played Classic rock, Country and even a couple of waltzes and the tone and ease of use was fantastic. The LP just sat there on the stand looking kinda sad. Don't get me wrong, the LP is an elegant and awesome instrument but the comfort and tone of this Jag kept it in my hands all night. Im not gonna go into a bunch of specs and technical garb, you can research that for yourself. But for the money, this is definately a fantastic axe.

I bought this used for a 20% discount off original price and I'm really glad I did. Even if I paid the full price, I would have been happy. It was likely returned "used", because of the touchy pickup switch which shorts out the electronics if over tightened.

This model feels as good as any professional guitar I've tried. It's beautiful and the tone is rich and sounds MUCH better than my other(brand) Jaguar that was almost the same price used.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Jaguar B90 Electric Guitar:

Not the best guitar for doing recordings unless you have high quality gear but it's mostly because this guitar's natural state is to purr and snarl. However, this thing has an amazing range in tone; I wasn't expecting this because it isn't the typical Jag circuitry and switching system. The amount of snarl that can be achieved using the bridge pickup is phenomenal. In my opinion, the warmth and bite sit somewhere perfectly between a Telecaster and a Les Paul.
I'm not sure if other reviewers have said anything about needing the guitar to be setup or adjusted but I took mine to a trusty luthier for neck and nut adjustment (I only needed the nut adjusted a bit because I use heavier gauge strings and on the factory nut, even with the intonation correct, the strings didn't sit as flat as they should and made the top 5-6 frets sharp). I find adjustments pretty typical of any new guitar purchases unless I buy something straight from a local store that regularly does maintenance on their shop guitars so don't let the potential of spending a bit extra for setup dissuade you from this beautiful beast. I picked up the two-tone sunburst and the finish is very well done. The guitar looks well dressed for any occasion: classy gigs in art galleries, dive bars, outdoor festivals, jazz lounges, etc.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Jaguar B90 Electric Guitar:

I'm by no means a guitar expert, but I have been playing for quite a few years and have had quite a few guitars. I'm picky about the arrangement of the controls, the look and feel of a guitar and definitely the sound. This guitar is the perfect combination of those things for me. I've had Epiphone, Carvin, Ibanez, and other Fenders. This thing is the best for me at any price. The bridge pickup has a really nice snarl that I absolutely love. Quality and craftsmanship is really great at this price.

Nice guitar. Pickups not quite like P90s from Gibson, but they are definitely not like a Strat or Tele. They have a nice tone. 24 inch scale is great for soloing. Love the bridge. Tuners are modern. 2 Tone Sunburst is nice. Solid workmanship. Set up was great right out of the box. If interested in a different type of single coil sound from a Fender, buy one.

I was amazed by the quality craftsmanship of my Jaguar Blacktop. The sigle coil pickup rip with the right amp settings. Factory set-up is not so great, but after some minor tweeks to the neck and bridge saddles the action settles righ down to a real comfortable feel. I'm real pleased with this guitar for its playability on properly set up. A terrific value for a guitar of this quality.

Comments about Fender Blacktop Jaguar B90 Electric Guitar:

After purchasing the Fender Jaguar Blacktop HH a year ago and being mildly satisfied with it, I came across this model with single coils. Immediately I bought this guitar and sold my HH version, without hesitation. The HH version of this guitar sounded flat and boring but with the P90 style pickups, this thing really shines. The clean tones have a beautiful sparkle to them and the dirty tones have more grit to them. The black on red looks incredible too and doesn't pick up finger prints like my other jag did. Overall, the playability and soud of this guitar is well worth the price and in my opinion this trumps the HH model.
