Comments about Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar:

5 Stars with an explanation ... I picked this baby up as a deeply discounted blemished model. Came in a solid (made in Viet Nam) case ... very nice ... opened the case, and I was stunned. It was gorgeous! Gloss arctic white body, with a pearloid pickguard, set against a rosewood / maple, fretboard / neck with chrome hardware and black knobs. The stock tuners are accurate, and give a vintage look. It weighs 8.25 lbs, which compared to a les Paul ain't bad ... overall ... instant love. . So at first glance I could find no blemish! Then I examined it ... Found a blob of finish on the fret board, fret ends needed filing and it needed a MAJOR set-up. So ... I got to work. Fixed the frets. Changed the strings to D'Addario 10 gauge NYXL's, adjusted the relief, set the string height (to get rid of all the buzz I had to set it at just over 4/64's, which is OK), set the humbucker height ... it became playable but ... didn't sound great. WTH! Humbuckers were hot enough, 250k pots were fine, there were no grounding issues ... but it lacked mids and lows though it had plenty of fender zing ... The cure ... string saver classic saddles 2 1/16 spread. The stock bent steel saddles it comes with are worthless junk ... Now it sounds great! Not only are there mids and lows but sustain was greatly improved... I took off the metric black toggle switch tip and put on a white one. I also swapped out the black witch hats for jazz master white ones (Not only do they look better but they are easier to read) ... The guitar now plays like butter, sounds awesome, and looks great. On the one hand, I wish fender Mexico (or the vendor I bought it from) gave a hoot about quality control ... But if they did I never would have been able to buy this guitar. So what's the moral? If you are handy at modding gits and can find this guy at a discount then jump on it like arctic white on a tele deluxe!

Comments about Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar:

I have to admit when I was shopping for a Tele this guitar had many features that I normally opt against like rosewood neck and I was a little skeptical about the pickups not knocking fender pups but many of the stock humbuckers sound buzzy & thin. As soon as I plugged this beast in all of my skepticism went out the window! This guitar is incredible! You can play clean or dirty & the guitar is so full sounding! This guitar is really a work of art & delivers tonal delight! My only if anything complaint is that I wish it had a trem but its a Tele & that's kind of rare! I did replace the 9's with 11's & all is good! Oh & I forgot the case is great too!

Nice sound, very playable, clean, distorted make your choice. I love the 12" radius neck, nice and thin and the pick ups are versital and more than ample. Beautiful fit and finish. A winner for sure. Great service from MF. Came with a nice case too.

Comments about Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar:

Don't expect the nice smooth feel of an american made. The neck feels kind of dry especially with the strings they give you and the newer type of woods they use, along with (Negative)gloss on the back. (Change strings out right away for completely different feel) The frets are kind of high also so will play better with 10's instead of 9's. Had to do a major setup and slightly move the whole bridge back because I couldn't get the low E string intonated properly. Just a hair turn of the neck adjustment got rid of the string buzz. The volume and tone controls aren't very smooth and seem to change tone quicker the higher you go. Might have to change those out too for smoother adjustment. Why go through all this?
Beautiful Tone!!! I am shocked with the tones this thing is putting out. I hate hate hate hate to admit I like the tone better on this than my American made HSS Deluxe strat. If this guitar had my HSS neck I'd have the perfect guitar. The stock pickups are a good choice for this guitar and won't need to change em. I've been playing this thing for about a solid week now and have no regrets on the purchase. Buttery cleans to insane distortion working great through all levels of tone. The case looks nice but is heavy and average built and for the price I guess your lucky to get one at all. It's also better that they ship it in the case too. That's always a plus.
Musicians Friend - Been a customer for about 12 years now. They've never let me down. 5 stars to them.

Comments about Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome! It has a wonderful sound, the fretboard is just gorgeous with it's multi colored Rosewood, and the woodgrain in the neck is just beautiful. They really need to add a picture of the case it comes with it such a nice case, very well built, black inside and out with Chris's name on the top. My only complaint is the same with all new guitars is the strings, I hate the little "baby" strings they put on it. I think it comes with 9's, I play with 11's or 12's, so after a new set of strings this guitar rocks. Only thing I may do to it is put a bone nut on it.

This guitar has a crisp sound and a beutiful tone. As soon as i opened the box I fell in love. Its neck is super playable. The finish is gorgeous. The guitar is light compared to my others. I felt like a better player the first time I plugged this thing in. Everything about it is perfect for me.

Comments about Fender Chris Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar:

Great value, great feel and look. Too bad the pickups and pots need to be replaced to improve it's tone. Luckily I had a Seymour Duncan Jazz (neck) and a Seymour Duncan JB (Bridge) laying around. I only had to shell out a few bucks for 500k Ohm pots to replace the 250k ohm pots. 500k ohm pots should always be used with humbuckers unless you want muddy tone. Still a great value when you consider the nice case that's included.
