Just got mine yesterday. Played it all night, including church band practice. My wife came in my music room after midnight to ask me if I was coming to bed. I had to think about it for a minute....

First the bad- yes, as others have noted, the string spacing is too wide for the neck, but I don't think it's the show stopper others have claimed it to be. A simple bridge upgrade fixes it if that's too much for you. Well worth the trouble because....

These Fidelitrons are sick pickups!!! They are very articulate and pick up harmonics well, but aren't sterile sounding when played clean. When you throw in a little overdrive, these really roar. A friend asked me, "But does it jingle-jangle"? I told him, "Oh yeah, Jack Jingle- Jangle, Jack Jingle-Jangle real good".

I could seriously get everything from the traditional Tele-styled double stop chicken sounds to deep bluesy tones, to down right filthy rock tones.

The awesome part is that the neck pickup gets round and warm but still sounds clear, totally unlike most humbuckers.

The neck is nice, and the body is comfortable, I mean, --it's a tele.

Having just a volume and pickup selector is really cool, because the pickups really respond well to the change in volume, and if you set your amp up right, will go from clean on the edge of breakup to dur-tay within a 1/8 turn of the knob.

So as I said before, Do yourself a favor, Get one. You can't have mine.

Disappointed in the Cabronita more than any guitar I've purchased. The surf green looked great, the bridge was not designed for this specific guitar and had alignment issues with the high E, the pick up was weak and wired out of phase, the electronics are very cheap for a mid-priced guitar. Fender botched this guitar up, with a little extra care in craftsmanship and slightly better parts, Fender could of had a winner. Other MIM Tele models I've tried played better. Pass on this guitar even at the blow out price unless you are going to spend extra money to mod.

MF was great with the return, excellent shopping experience.

Comments about Fender Classic Player Series Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:

The guitar came as advertised, beautiful and unique. Had that Tele twang but was a little week. Because I purchased a cheaper "Mexican" model, I was able to have the special made pickups rewound by Seymour Duncan to sound the way I like . This guitar is now my favorite guitar to play on stage. Many people ask about the model and complement on both looks & sound. Thank you Musicians Friend for the awesome purchase.

Comments about Fender Classic Player Series Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is the best non USA Fender I've played. The pickups give it a unique sound - a mix of Gretsch/Fender Humbuckers provides excellent tone. The only con was that the bridge saddles have to be replaced. It ships with saddles made for a 2 1/4 bridge, it actually requires a 2 1/8 bridge. Hipshop makes a direct replacement and that is what I put on my Cab. Very easy to do and now all the strings are aligned as they should be.

Serious Quality Problems

Comments about Fender Classic Player Series Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Only buy this guitar if you want a "project guitar". I sent two back with serious finish issues. I believe spray lines streaked the finish. Two candy apple guitars later I had MF send me a black one. Same problem, but much less. I was not being overly picky, these were serious finish flaws. Also, as many have said, the bridge is a problem and the PUPS are weak. After installing a Callaham bridge and TV Jones PUPS and a Bigsby, lowering the nut, the guitar plays really nice. Basically I used the wood, because at the reduced price, it's cheaper than buying a body and neck. By the way, the neck is pretty nice. If somebody bought this hoping for a player out of the box, they would have been sorely disappointed, but I knew that coming in. I have never had a problem with MIM Fenders. What's going on???

Comments about Fender Classic Player Series Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar is great. It arrived well set up with good action. Pickups can go from "quacky" clean to crunchy. Tremendous value at the regular price but it's a steal at the latest clearance. I have Gibson Les Pauls and Japanese Gretsch and ESP, and I love this guitar. I got the surf green and liked it so much I got one in black. Very pleased. Fender did a great job on this and I don't plan on changing anything except maybe the bridge/saddles. Minor detail but you can get a really nice hipshot bridge for this guitar and it's perfect.

Comments about Fender Classic Player Series Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar arrived on day 1 and I was gigging with it on day 3. All I needed to do was replace the strings and set it up to my taste. (I don't know if that would have been necessary for most players, but I always do that with a new guitar). MIM. Great build and sound. It's a Tele, for sure, but the Filtertron pups give it more punch than standard tele pups. They sound good. They did squeal when I used a dirt box with a lot of gain, so I do not think you would want to use this guitar for really heavy music. The pups are directly mounted to the body, and I think there are shims under them for adjustment purposes. I'll check that out later. Hardware is solid. About the right weight for an Alder-body. Frets are leveled and well-dressed. I don't miss the tone knob. Good paint and finish.

I had a great time playing it at a "classic rock" cover gig. I used it alone all night and never felt the need to switch guitars. Good times!

Plays and looks awesome. The new Fideli'Tron™ pickups are great with lot's of clarity. I probably will be replacing them because I like my sound a little more sustaining and dirty. The string spacing is not exact according to the pickup's. A small insight on Fenders end. THIS IS NOT MADE IN THE USA but for someone on a budget this is a great deal. I wish Fender would come down on the American made pricing and only make guitars in the USA.

For an out of country guitar, this one has great value and a exceptionally clean sound. Everyone will ask you about it :)
