My first electric guitar (which I still own and cherish) was, and is a '79 stratocaster with a maple neck, natural finish and non tremolo bridge.(from the 50's thru the 70's they made them with or with out tremolo) and out of 20 strats I have owned (9 of which I still own) It has always been one of my favorites.A few years back I had purchased a classic series 70's strat,in olympic white, with a maple neck, and I have to say I almost like it better than my 79.I say almost because it's kind of a yin/yang thing, where a few features on one are better and vice versa.I love my 79 but one thing I never cared for was in those days they sprayed the body and neck with many, many coats of polyester which would choke off the harmonics and high end on the otherwise beautiful tone it produces. The 70's reissue on the hand uses thinner coats of polyester on the body and uses urethane on the neck which adds a brighter more resonant tone on the top end, but still otherwise has the beautiful tone of the original. If I had to give any creative critisizem on the 70's reissue I would say two things: the neck profile is very nice but not totally accurate and as in the old days I think they should offer it with or without tremolo. (this applies to the 50's and 60's reissues as well)Otherwise It is a phenominal guitar that is quickly becoming my #1. I'm in the process of getting a second one with a natural finish and a maple neck, just like my 79! Awesome guitar.

I really wanted to like this guitar. I read all of the reviews, thought the price sounded reasonable, and wanted an affordable strat. I like the look of the bigger 70's headstock. I tried it a my local music store, and was very disspointed. I ran it through a quality tube amp, and this guitar had no punch at all. The tone was awful. It was the thinnest sounding guitar I have ever played. I compared it to several other MIM strats, and finally bought a Highway 1 strat. Buyer beware: You may want to test drive this axe before you buy it.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I have two of these guitars both Olympic white with maple. The first one i bought second hand. When I took it to my tech, he found the neck pocket was not deep enough to get the strings high enought to not make it buzz. To correct this the bridge has to be shimmed way up. Also you can see dents under the paint that were filled and painted over. My second one arrived yesterday brand new. great playing and quality except for a pickguard screw was missing from the factory. The hole was stripped out and instead of being fixed was just sent out through QC without a screw and a huge hole. I love these guitars but the price is just two high for the flaws and mistakes that leave the factory.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
Take a trip back to 1974 and buy this guitar. Great sound, great neck, and I love the Micro Tilt adjustment...every Strat should have this feature. The large headstock looks soooo much better that the little one on every other Strat nowadays.Run this through a Marshall and it's where rock once was, and needs to return to. This guitar makes you want to play the entire Deep Purple catalog...especially Lazy.
Comments about Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
sounds great no matter what style you play, I play overdriven into a Fender Blues Junior and blues and fuzz tones sound amazing
Its a great guitar, just your typical high end strat.
built great, I expect it to last a long time, its held up for a year so far with no trouble
Not a bad price for a great guitar, buy new pickups for it, and its practically the same as the twice the price '70s strat, spec for spec.
Comments about Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I have the natural with the maple neck. I hear that all the necks are made in Corona and shipped to Escondido. I believed it after playing it. In the age of cnc machines, does it really make a difference where the body was made? One more thought. The usa pickups of the 70's were noisy too. Just swap'em out and you will have a quality instrument at a reasonable price. I play this through an old Carvin x-60 tube half stack. It's the sweetest sounding rig I ever owned and I've had a lot of them (marshall, music man, traynor, fender, etc) Don't believe me? go to the store and play one. You can thank me later.
Comments about Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
This is one very good looking great playing guitar. Its nitro coat is beautiful and the details as far as I am concerned, are well done, if not perfectly period specific. There are a lot of comments here complaining about the pickups and/or the guitars' tone. Simple solution: take the stock originals out and put some Fender Custom Shop Noiseless or Hot Noiseless pickups in their place like I did. End of problem. That will give this guitar tone to rival the two and three thousand dollar Strats! The one I like best is the clear Ash finish with white trim and white pickguard.
Comments about Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I consider this my first "real" guitar (previously using squier and cheap epiphones). This guitar sounds amazing on a clean channel, and is great if you're looking for the funky hendrix-like tone. My only problem with it is that it is very "twangy" and thin sounding on a distorted channel. Also the nut locks up sometimes. All in all, a pretty decent guitar, but not the best.

this is the replica of the weapon that destroyed disco. I have this in olympic white with a maple neck and its solid. its ash body makes the sound original and its sensual! I love this guitar and happy to have it again in the 21st century. I replaced the pick ups with Dimarzio HS 3 in the bridge and HS 4 (YJM) in the middle and neck. now it sound superb! this is my dream guitar and only Fender could do it for me. Thanks!

Comments about Fender Classic Series '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I picked this up from Musician's friend a while back. I always loved the look and feel of the seventies strats and this guitar meets and exceeds most expectations. I wasn't crazy about the twangy stagerred pole piece pickups. I like rock. I installed a set of Black Lace sensor pickups in red, blue and silver then changed out the pickguard and trem cover. I now refer to this as the "Black Lace Strat" and love it. It's the best guitar I have ever owned. Get one!
