OVERVIEW

A blast from a past that never was.

Originally conceived as a model that could've been made during the halcyon days of the early '50s (Fender didn't begin building thinline guitars until 1968), the Custom Telecaster Thinline guitar was recently designed by the Fender Custom Shop's Senior Master Builder. This guitar has been given Fender's "Relic" treatment -- built to show years of natural wear and tear; with nicks, scratches, worn finish, rusty hardware, and aged plastic parts. Alder body, one-piece maple neck/fretboard, and vintage alnico-magnet pickups give it classic Fender tone with added resonance from the body cavity.

FEATURES
  • Alder body
  • One-piece maple neck/fretboard
  • Vintage alnico single-coil pickups
  • 25-1/2" scale
  • Thinline body with cavity and soundhole

A must for your collection

By AnyColourYouWant

Light and super comfortable to play. I am currently playing through a Mesa Electra Dyne amp and this guitar effortlessly sings through the mix, from clean to high-gain Brit. tones. An additional benefit is the 'f" cut-out which allows me to clearly hear the unplugged guitar. Get one while you can.

MY Favourite Guitar

By RogerGLewis

from Bristol, UK

This guitar does it all for me. It is fantastic for blues and very very playable pick it up you wont want to put it down simple as that. I have A 68 Gibson Byrdland, A Master salute Strat, a 74 LesPaul standard and a 64 ES330 but of all of my Guitars this one whilst not the most expensive is the one I'd part with last.

A really sweet dream

By Peter S Hickey

from Tempe, AZ

No question about it; this is a beautiful guitar. I tried one out at a Fender "Trunk Show" at the local GC and fell totally in love. The neck was the nicest Fender neck I've ever played. The pickups had that classic vintage sound through a Blues Deluxe amp and the Thinline body made this much more comfortable than the Nocaster relic I A/B'ed it with. As I said, I fell in love with the guitar. I did NOT fall in love with the price tag and eventually settled for a MIM '72 Thinline reissue. But, had I had the money to afford it, this would've been what I bought. Get it if you love Teles and have the dinero.

The Harry Turtledove Telecaster

By Peter S Hickey

from Tempe, AZ

For those of you unfamiliar with the reference, Harry Turtledove writes "alternative history"; for example, what would have happened if the South had won the Civil War or aliens had invaded Earth during the middle of World War II. To Tele fanatics, this guitar is every bit as intriguing a concept. I played one today and am in love. It slays my '52 Reissue and also slays the standard '51 Nocaster relic I A/B'd it with. The neck is one of the best Tele necks I've ever experienced. It was exactly wide enough and fat enough. The Thinline body is much better balanced than a normal Tele body and the pickups are Fender vintage heaven, especially through the Blues Deluxe I played it through. The relic job wasn't too intense which is OK with me as I think relic-ing is just silly. It still loses a half-point on features for the relic job. Fender should also offer this as a Closet Classic and NOS for those of us who don't appreciate bogus wear and tear and prefer a clean, new-looking instrument. I'd still spring for this in a second if I had the money, though.

I just don't get it

By Riffs-.X6ul

from Raleigh, NC

Sorry for the Average rating, especially since I don't own this thing, BUT...It's kind of like buying those real "chic" blue jeans that are already cut up and tattered right off the hangar...people actually pay extra for something damaged?I realize that the Fender Custom Master probably "relic"d this guitar with Love, but come on! Rust?!I don't think I'd ever fork over three "G"s even for a genuine Fender Broadcaster!I'll just say "no" to the nocaster.
