For pickers who love vintage Tele sound while yearning for modern playability.

The Fender Special Edition Custom Deluxe Telecaster electric guitar features a select ash body with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish that "breathes" and resonates with the responsiveness of a vintage model. Add in all of the modern upgrades and you've got a great playing, versatile guitar that will get you through the job at hand in comfortable style and with superior sound. The custom specifications for the one-piece maple neck come together to give an incredible playing experience. We loved the neck profile on the Custom Shop's Tribute Series Jeff Beck Esquire so much, we had Fender put it on this model. From its large modified V-shaped maple neck and flatter 9.5" fingerboard radius, to the taller 6105 frets, these elements combine for an incredible feel with easy chording plus allows for amazing string bends that ring out clear and don't choke out. You can express yourself freely without any worries. Hardware on the Custom Deluxe Telecaster includes Fender/Schaller staggered, cast/sealed tuning machines for smooth, precise tuning stability, and a chrome-plated steel Tele bridge plate with six plated brass saddles and string-thru-body design. The quality materials specially chosen for this bridge add to the vintage musical response, while giving you the modern benefits of improved intonation, height adjustment, and smooth edges for comfort. The details of the bridge effect the attack, decay, sustain, and release of the notes in a beautiful musical way that every now and again can give you goose bumps. Other appointments include a single-ply white pickguard and a top-hat switch cap. Includes hardshell case, strap, straplocks, cable, and certificate of authenticity.

The Special Edition Custom Deluxe Telecaster is loaded with a Nocaster single-coil pickup in the bridge position, and a Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele single-coil pickup in the neck position. These are arguably the best Tele pick-ups the Custom Shop makes and give you that very desirable, yet somewhat elusive sparkle and spank of a vintage Tele. Additionally, it features a special 4-way Tele switch that is custom wired in an intuitive way with the player in mind. The back 3 positions give you the standard traditional settings in the traditional order, and you have the added option to slam the switch all the way forward for the killer 4th position of both pickups in series, which gives you a fuller, fatter humbucker tone with more output.

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Special Edition Custom Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

First of all, the service delivered by the Private Reserve guys is second to none -- as good, if not better than at an independent dealer. Chris took as much time as I needed to answer questions, provide in-hand descriptions and seal the deal. The one he selected and shipped was the perfect weight. (Now if only these guys packed my tube orders for shipping...)

Also, the price for this model is even less than you will find on eBay from a non-authorized Fender seller. So, you get a great price AND the Fender Custom Shop warranty. Better get one at this price before they're gone!

As for this Tele itself... In a word: Awesome! I got the Sherwood Green Ash model. featuring a modified V-neck, 6105 frets and "Twisted" neck and Nocaster bridge PuPs. Wow! I have a few other Teles including an American Deluxe w/ N3 PuPs and S-1, and a 60th Anniversary Ltd Ed "Blackguard Blonde" Ash with American Vintage PuPs. The latter two have modern C necks which is what I'm used to, so the mod V took a bit getting used to. That aside, the Twisted and Nocaster with 4-way switching is sweet beyond words! This CS Deluxe Tele has the best sound I have ever experienced. The N3's and Vintage PuPs are different and fine in their own right, but this one ops them all. Great tone and balance. Extremely delighted with this guitar!
Rating is for both the Custom Shop Tele and the service from Private Reserve.

One Great Tele!!

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Special Edition Custom Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

A very nice sounding, playing and well thought out Telecaster from Fender?s U.S. custom shop. Nice materials and craftsmanship here. Fender does this one right with modern appointments and plenty of vintage tone! This makes for a serious player?s guitar. Lite ash wood body is resonant and sounds good even while unplugged ? always a sure bet you?ve got a good electric. Strap locks and modern Schaller sealed tuners are great additions to have onboard. Helps to keep the guitar in tune way longer than those flimsy vintage Klusons. Maple neck is flamed, super comfortable and possesses a fat U profile, feels just like a genuine early 50?s tele. Pickup?s are awesome and really have a lot of tonal quality and versatility. I find myself using this guitar more and more. Could become my # 1 pretty soon. Guitar looks good and sounds even better. I play mostly country, blues, jazz and rock and this guitar (a Tele is a true country players guitar anyhow) suits the bill perfectly. Mellow tones, twang and raging string bends are all at the player?s disposal with a little dialing. This guitar will be around for a long time and that?s what?s so great about the simple, efficiant and modular design of the Fender Telecaster. In conclusion: A basic but eternally rock solid guitar that will surely last a lifetime and provide its owner with years of playing pleasure. Try one out!

Comments about Fender Custom Shop Special Edition Custom Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I was asking myself as I was considering this guitar, will there really be a difference between a $2000 Tele and a $1500 Tele or a $1000 Tele. The answer was: YES THERE IS. I got this guitar from Scott and he hand-picked it for me. It is unbelievable in terms of fit-and-finish, and even sound. Mine is on the light-side (weight-wise) and not being expert enough to understand why/how, I can only tell you the sound and tone is superb. I have the '52 Reissue (which I've upgraded to Noiseless P/Us), and an American Std (SCN P/Us) and an AmSpecial (Seymour-Duncan PUs) and this guitar blows them away. I love the 6105 frets; for a strummer like me, combining them with the 9.5" radius works great. And the 4-way switch is a great option. I've 'test driven' an S-1 switch enabled Tele Am Deluxe -- the 4-way, to me, is better.I got great service from MF too. Even after the sale, I had some questions -- Scott responded within 30 minutes online, and gave me what I needed to know.
