OVERVIEW

A signature model designed by one of the pioneers of metal

Guitarist Dave Murray of seminal U.K. metal heroes Iron Maiden has been laying it down with a Fender since the mid '70s. Murray recently joined forces with Fender to create a signature electric guitar based on his own '57 Stratocaster, previously owned by the late, guitarist Paul Kossoff from the band Free.

The Dave Murray Stratocaster guitar boasts a supercharged humbucker/single-coil/humbucker configuration—a DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary DP103 neck pickup, a DiMarzio Super Distortion DP100 bridge pickup, and a Fender vintage-style middle pickup. The Fender Dave Murray Guitar includes a lacquer finish, and a flatter, soft V-shaped neck with satin back. Includes case.

Comments about Fender Dave Murray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This axe is eveything I thought it would be and more. I haven't put it down for the last three weeks and it just feels right. Tone, fit and finish, weight,Daveys sig on the back, it really feels like you are touching a bit of history when you pick this guitar up and hold it in your hands! Dave Murray fan like me? No brainer!! Not a Maiden fan? Check it out anyway, it will blow you away!
It did come from the factory set up with the bridge floating about 1/4 inch above the body. So I did some claw adjusting and tweeking because I prefer the bridge flush with the body on a non- Floyd Rose bridge.

Very Accurate Reprocduction of a Classic

        By Eric Boyd

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender Dave Murray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Overall, the guitar is a very accurate reproduction of the guitar Dave used from the late 70s to 83. To the people complaining about the lack of a Floyd Rose, his early model didnt have one. Dave is currently using this guitar on tour with him, with the addition of a Floyd. Buy this guitar, you won't regret it.
Dave Murray signature on the headstock, even though it is a print its still a nice addition. The pickups are very nice, a very mid-range roaring Dimarzio DP100 in the bridge, and a DP103 that has a nice warm woody tone. The middle pickup is very underrated, this pickup can be very useful with the right amp settings to get Iron Maiden's clean sounds. And on top of that, the chrome pickup rings along with the creme electronics add a nice accent to the guitar.
The guitar is very well put together, you can tell it is American made. The alder body has a great natual overdrive tone to the wood when unplugged. The neck is smooth from the satin back, yet sweet sounding from the glossed front. All frets were nicely pressed, and the factory setup was good enough for the hobbyist. Please add the extra springs to the claw to improve the resonance and tuning stability when doing bends like Mr. Murray himself.
The quality of the instrument is definitely worth the price.

        Dave Murray signature Stratocaster

        By Tiki

        from NY

Comments about Fender Dave Murray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I was about about to spend an extra grand on a Les Paul before I tried out the Dave Murray signature Stratocaster. Glad I played this guitar first! The DiMarzio's are killer and better sounding than the Burstbuckers in the LP I was about to get. Being a Strat, it is also far more comfortable to use.

As a signature model, this is about the most accurate guitar I have ever seen from any manufacturer that goes true to Murray's origianal '57 Strat dating back to the late 70's early 80's and can been seen in many of Iron Maiden's videos such as The Number of the Beast...

        Get it!
Wow, this guitar is straght up rock and roll and metal. No other guitar feature wise gives you the best of a comfortable guitar with Humbucker capability via DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary DP103 neck pickup, Vintage SC in the Middle, and the Super Distortion DP100 bridge pickup. That's what I call Feature RICH!

The rest of the guitar is based on the '57 Stratcaster, and like Murray's original, is black with the Maple board.
With the first Murray Strat I received, there was one under the paint issue on the back near the lower (shorter) horn. Almost looks like a blotch the size of a thumb print. But my local Fender dealer is going to replace this one with aother that is to my liking. Other than that small issue, quality is top shelf the rest of the way!
Buying an HSH Start can be done less expensively, but you still wouldn't get a guitar of this caliber, even if you bought a used AVRI '57 and tried to utfit with the DiMarzio's and the 3-way, etc...

Value wise, this thing is a Great value. It's basically a Custom Shop Guitar.

        Wonderful Instrument

        By Croniac-5eYeT

        from California

Comments about Fender Dave Murray Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar because Dave Murray is my primary influence, and he just won't give me his. My band covers Maiden (among others) and I'm often doing the Murray parts. In a word - Tone. After seeking this sound for 25 years, it is very rewarding to just plug it in and have the definitive Dave Murray sound. This guitar truly delivers that. Set it to the neck pickup and away you go. Don't over do your effects, you'll rob yourself of this guitar's character.Very solid, plays beautifully and delivers exactly what it promises. The '57 vintage touches are very nice, including lacquer finish, Gotoh tuners, and a very nice replica '57 tweed case.My finance questioned my sanity making this purchase as I already have a very nice '04 American Deluxe HSS... But even she had to admit after hearing it that this was a very different animal.A fantastic ax. Guaranteed to remain in my collection forever.
