OVERVIEW

All the popular mods in an easy-priced axe!

The Fender Deluxe Strat HSS is a hot rod of an electric guitar that is capable of a broad range of tones. Thank the guitar's 2 Tex-Mex single-coils and a bridge position Fat Strat humbucker with 5-way switching for its versatility. A late 60s "big" headstock and black knobs and pickguard give this Stratocaster a distinctive flare.

I previously owned a Squier Deluxe Hot Rails. Then I bought this Fat Strat as a bargain at my local store. I loved it since I tested it a few times. It can play anything your mind can think up. It's very confortable and its sustain lasts for days. It also looks awesome in black. I play a variety of genres with it, from alternative rock, funk, punk, metal, blues and post rock. Either in the stage or the recording studio it will be your best friend. Its only weak spot is the Humbucker, it's got a creamy sparkling tone ideal for overdrives, for high gain though it lacks punch. I replaced it with a DiMarzio Tone Zone.

Here's the deal, you're better off with a normal Fat Strat. The Tex-Mex pickups are way too country-blues-ish. If you want a good twang sound buy a telecaster. As for the humbucker...all Fender humbuckers sound cheap and this one is no different. The only nice thing about this one is it has a big headstock, which is awesome!

One Kicking Guitar

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I love this guitar! This was my first fender, and currently my only guitar. I love the fat sound you get from the humbucker, especially with the distortion sounds. I love the clean, stringy sounds with the bridge and neck singles for my clean chanel. The only thing I could say is I would prefer a hardtail option because I never use my trem because sometimes the clean sounds are a tiny bit wavey with the bucker. Also, a few more colors couldn't hurt, even though I love mine in Pewter. Other then that, no complaints! Can't beat it for the money, would recommend to anyone who wants an all out rockin' guitar!!

I've had mine for 2 months... the longer I play it, the better it gets. Decent versatility from the pickups, quick, clean fretboard. I range from hot blues to grungy metal, and it keeps up beautifully. Sure, maybe the American version would sound a bit better, dunno. Given the price difference, I wouldn't even consider checking. Someday, I might replace the pickups, but I feel no hurry whatever.

The Guitar I wanna be buried with!!!

By Anonymous

I barely could buy this guitar when I found it on my habit store. It had been there for years, and one day it suddenly priced-dropped!!! I could not resist. Oh my!!! This is the guitar I always dreamed with. Killer looking, versatile sound and comfortable for playing. Its sound can give you enough power to play anything you have in mind. If you ever find it somewhere, buy it. If you're into Fender you won't regret this guitar.

I just got this baby today and haven't been able to put it down!!!! This guitar's feel is just absolutely awesome!!!! It's as if it's a puzzle piece that fits perfectly into ones hands. The tone is quite the Fender tone which is unarguably awesome!!!Besides that it is MIM, with the Tex-Mex pick ups, it actually sounds a bit nicer than the US of A strats. The price is priced to sell, and at this price, it's definitely worth every hard earn cent!!!

Fender Stratocaster

I have had this guitar for about six months now, and overall, I am very impressed. First off, it stays in tune okay, but if you like to tune it in many different tunings, this is not for you, as the tremolo springs keep it in standard tuning. Next, the pickups are impressive, but not flattering. I would prefer to have Two EMG's but these do the job. Last, the neck is very impressive, but they could have given me a real maple fretboard, instead of the skunky, washed up rosewood one. Overall, I like it, but the features could be better.

Good Strat

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

First off. The color combinations are now correct the person in a previous review (about 4 review down) must have the 2007 version where the pickguard/pickup combinations are slightly different. But there is still a slight difference. The fender logo colors on the headstock are reversed. It's written in gold outlined in black rather than vice versa like in the photos provided. But anyways about the guitar. Positives: very smooth neck, artic white and black plastic parts make a great look, good paint job, good overall feel, had to tighten trem of course. . Negatives: Tex Mex pickups are terrible, vintage tuners/machineheads work but are lame. I replaced the bridge with a fender atomic humbucker that are in the highway one hss strats. Highly recommend doing that. Overall: decent mex strat.

AWESOEM!!!I got mine in artic white, white pickguard, white knobs...its beautiful. The humbucker really gives it that extra kick. ive tried strats and think theyve sounded different (yet i like the sound) and this! god, different doesnt begin to describe it. awesome for almost any type of music, but for rythm guitar, i dont suggest it. Leads it works Great. i think its one of the best.

This guitar kicks a$$!!!

By TheStruggleguitarist

I have owned and played this guitar for 3 years and it is one of the very best strats i have ever played. I am always getting complemented on its gorgeous look and feel. The pickups sound great and are very versatile (great for metal, rock, blues, clean tones, jazz, funk, etc.). I would recommend this guitar to anyone who has interest in it.

versatile strat

I basicly purchased this guitar because I was in the market for a strat and I got a great deal on this one. I really wanted the HSS option for some heaver tones. When I recieved it I have to say that I wasn't that impressed with the Tex-Mex humbucker. So I replaced it with a DiMarzio super distortion humbucker. Wow, what a difference that made. Now I can get a nice classic rock/classic metal sound I was looking for. By keeping the Tex-Mex single coils in the neck and middle position I can still get that nice strat tone. If you can get this guitar for a good deal, than go for it. I have the black on black and it just looks cool. It looks like David Gilmore's strat. The classic tuners stay in tune for me, and the oversized 70's headstock looks cool as well.

I've owned this guitar for over two years and play it regularly with our working band. I love playing this guitar. It has a versatile sound and the Humbucker rocks out on FreeBird, played through my Marshall MG100DFX. This guitar is awesome for the price and if anything happens to the one I have I'll purchase another. I own the Black one. I didn't like the black pick guard so I replaced it with a custom made pick guard. I also own a Fender Nashville Tele and each guitar has its own purpose.

Awesome Guitar for Any Type of Music

By Gtarman14

The pickups in this thing are amazing, you can get great blues tones all the way to screeching metal and the humbucker adds an extra punch. I gave it an 8 on features cause they put vintage tuners on the guitar so the tuning keys aren't adjustable and I can hardly let it sit without it going severly out of tune. Yes you should buy this guitar but be prepaired to put new tuners on it.

I got this guitar last year, because it looks like Dave Murray's (of Iron Maiden), and since then, I replaced the single coils with two Seymour Duncan Hot Rail pickups, and replaced the bridge pick up with a Seymour Duncan Dime bucker, and just recently equipped a Floyd Rose to is...it's amazing, great guitar...plays from heavy metal...to Jazz...no disappointments!
