I came across my powerhouse completely by accident. I was in the market to buy a strat. I had been using les pauls and wanted to diversify my arsenal again. I had previously owned an older model Clapton strat with the gold lace sensors. Unfortunately, late models are out of my price range. The Powerhouse was exactly what I was looking for. The big difference for me was the rosewood neck which didn't bother me cause I was straying further away from maple. The mid boost provides a broad tone spectrum that can compete with virtually any strat. You have to be used to the settings to get what you want, but I think that this is a virtuosic instrument. I felt that the pick ups were a little to over the top for me so I did drop in a set of vintage noiseless.I Love this guitar.
Fender is just incredible. I found one of these in Graffiti Yellow, and it looks sooooo awesome. It plays like a dream, and the 12db boost knob just opens up so many worlds of tone variation. Maple neck and fretboard is just awesome, super bright sound, love it altogether. This thing is a workhorse, that jams, shreds, and sparkles like crazy. It looks stunning as well. You might need sunglasses to look at the Yellow finish, it's really bright. Awesome guitar, fun to play, rocks hard. Amazing Fender Stratocaster.
The pickups with the mid boost make this guitar extremely versatile. Out of the box it was set up so sweet that I played it for five hours non stop the first time I laid hands on it. I don't believe there is another guitar out there with this quality to price ratio and I have looked hard. Easily the best money I've spent on a guitar in a long time.
Wow. This guitar for a MIM is outstanding. Plays very nicely. Beautiful guitar for the money period the end.
OK, I have buitiful great looking american strat I got 10 years ago. This black strat 1/2 the price of the american is not the same build quality, but the playability and sound are truely superior. Maybe it's cause they just make so many of them,or maybe I was lucky to get a good one. It does have a chincier bridge, and tuners. Also the screwis in the spring cover has cracked the cheaper alder wood, but besitse that it's a good intermediate guitar for basic rock. If you want to shred I would recomend a descent $700 range RG with locking tremelo or the Xiphos, or even the RGDX which are all a better quality guitat although more expensice. As with all things you get what you pay for.
Yesterday I was at the local music shop testing out strats. First I played the MIM standard and let me tell you that is a good guitar. It sounded great clean but when I cranked up the overdrive it didn't really have any punch. So after playing that I spotted the powerhouse strat and decided to play it. It sounded good clean, then I went to the overdrive channel on the fender deville amp and it blew me away. incredible tone and as much power as any les paul I've ever played. This guitar has punch to spare and the tone will blow you away. I'm only 200 bucks short of buying this bad boy. I reccommend you do the same.
I've had this guitar for 6 years and it is my first electric guitar. This guitar has lasted, the neck is very fast and playable. The tone is amazing, I have reached every possible tone from Gun's N' Roses to Metallica to SRV and everything in between (even country music). The only complain I have is that after 6 years of playing I put this thing through hell and the frets wore down a bit. Which kinda happens to guitars I guess. But I broke the tremelo, which was totally my fault (I was a kid). All in all this guitar has lasted and it's tone and features are sweet. Don't pay attention to anyone badmouthing mexican Fenders, you can put this one against any American made model and blow minds.
The first times I played on it, I was totally blown away. Great sound and playability. But after a while the string walked on to the frets. But now everything seems okay, and the sound of this guitar is exactly what I was looking for. The boost all the way up, the gain pretty high, and then it's time to shred! What time is it? IT'S TIME TO ROCK!
I bought this baby about a year ago and have put it to the test. The navy blue finish with the maple neck is flawless. with a slight little tweek it was ready to go. I have other strats, both MIM and MIA, this one is my favorite.Just about everytime I play it out, at least one other guitarist comments on how great it soundsand wants to know what model it is. I play it mostly through a hot rod deluxe, sometimes through a boss me50. I'm so happy with thispowerhouse deluxe, I'm thinking about getting another one in a different color. Try one and see for yourself.
I bought this guitar after checking out the entire fender line up and down, and picked this as the best that to fit my needs/cashflow. Mine needed a setup out of the box. I didn't expect a fender setup, I like setting up my guitars anyway so I know who to blame if something breaks! The 12db boost is great, when used with the right distortion you can clean up your guitar very nicely even if the pedal doesn't clean up from the volume knob. The no-load tone is nice too, but sometimes the extra treble can be a bit harsh if misused. Also, consider changing the pickups out for something a bit nicer, I still find mine a bit stale. My guitar had a small flaw in the way the holes for the output jack cover were drilled. The cover didn't sit right initially but was an easy fix. Overall, the extra features make the guitar a great performer in nearly any "strat appropriate" music situation, certainly a good choice and a great buy.
