WOW. this guitar is amazing. i have an older model so the finish is black but otherwise it's exactly the same. The action is super low and fun to play. i only added fret buzz up top because i think my action is a little too low. and i'll be replacing the standard tuners with locking ones soon. overall great guitar.

This guitar was described as a solid body guitar however when I picked it up it was very light. The DiMarzio pickups are powerful and the coil split function is a nice touch. I like the clean tones I get with the neck pickup in split mode.
When I play it in Rock/Metal mode the tone seems hollow and airy not what I was expecting. Overall I think it a descent guitar for more of a jazz or blues template.

Through out the years I have had many different guitars and this one has it's place but just not where I thought it would have fit.

Comments about Fender FSR Custom Telecaster HH Electric Guitar with DiMarzio Pickups:

I bought a used black one about 5 or 6 years ago
("Crafted in Korea") to set up solely for slide guitar. I was/am very impressed with the craftsmanship and playability of it. I've not had any problems or complaints about it like I've read some people have had. It's light as a feather (compared to my other guitars), very comfortable to play and is my most played guitar. It sounds great through all my different amps. I like it so much that I'm in process of purchasing another used one like the one shown on this page. This gold top looks gorgeous. Surely it plays just as great as the black one I own. Regardless of where these guitars are "Crafted", they're not only beautifully made, but they're great sounding to my ears. And hey, you can always change the pups. These guitars may be inexpensive (depending on your definition of inexpensive) but in my opinion they're worth alot more than what they sell for. I highly recommend them.

Stella guitar, but not at the MSRP!

Comments about Fender FSR Custom Telecaster HH Electric Guitar with DiMarzio Pickups:

Are you interested in this guitar? Yes (you should be, it looks fricken' sweet)

Do you like how a tele' looks?

Do you like how an SG plays?

If you answered yes to these last 2 questions. the guitar is for you. If you want a traditional tele' don't get this. This is Fender's go at a GoldTop LP that ends up playing like an SG, but with the beauty of a tele'.

      Pros:
      Sweet looks
      Nice play / good action
      Light
      Chest cut away
DiMarzio pickups are tidy, and a great deal of chop comes from them
If you buy on sale, this is a steal

      Cons:
Poor workmanship (my guitar had a couple of over zealous paint areas, and a minor ding in the body, but nothing worth sending back)
This guitar will require restringing and a good cleaning and set up session. Mine was set up in 2012 and I bought it in 2014. It has minor surface rust and crud on the strings and the frets from sitting somewhere not quite dry enough. New strings and a cloth sorted this out.

Bottom line: If you can get this on sale (as I did) it is a quality guitar for the money and will certainly spice up your collection. I am currently playing in a '90s alt. rock cover band (RHCP / Primus / Alice in Chains etc) and this has a great sound to it.

I own a Mex. tele' and this goldtop does not come close to quality of my Mex. tele'. These guitars are made in Indonesia and you need to remember this when you purchase one.

If I had paid MSRP for this guitar I would have given it 2/5. I got this 70% off, and I am giving it 4/5. Market denotes value on this guitar.

Comments about Fender FSR Custom Telecaster HH Electric Guitar with DiMarzio Pickups:

This guitar does it all at a great value. I picked it up for a song but don't feel bad if you paid full price because you still got a great deal. Now keep in mind I returned 2 guitars back to MF because of a defective neck and a stripped out truss rod. So quality control is suspect. But the third guitar is a real winner. The neck is wider and and flatter than your average fender which is great for fast playing and deep bends and access to upper frets is better than other fenders because it has a set neck. Very classy. The pick ups scream. They are very balanced and pick up on a lot of nuances and harmonic over tones. Pups are focused on mid range so they are very crunchy and smooth. With plenty of bite so your lead playing cuts through. The coil spilt gives even more options. What a beautiful guitar. Nice and light too. There is some fret buzz issues but right from the factory it of course needs a set up. If you're looking for a classic tele skip it. If you want a shredders dream with all the bells and whistles buy it. You will love it. Thanks to musicians friend for standing behind their product. Cheers.

Out of the box it had high action and poor intonation. After a good setup its amazing. Plays better than some of my American guitars. Bought as a spare but becoming a favorite.

Comments about Fender FSR Custom Telecaster HH Electric Guitar with DiMarzio Pickups:

I bought this guitar used in mint cond. for half the cost a new. I usually buy high end Gibson or Fenders. The DiMarzio pick ups are versatile especially for rock which is why I bought it. There's no pick up buzz till you use split coil, which is typical. Fret buzz can be taken care of with trying different strings or a mild set up.If you don't know how to do so I recommend spending the money for a professional to do so. At some point I will replace all pots and switch to better quality hardware and hand wire such things. But over all I would recommend this to be a really good guitar from a starter to advance player. With a little time and money to make it your own, you'll be extremely pleased that you bought this guitar.

Don't think it sounds anything like a standard tele but it does have awesome tone for classic rock, heavy rock. The coil split makes it extremely versital. Quality and craftsmanship is typical of foreign made fenders. The set neck is the best feeling I have ever played. Great upper fret access. Would buy another in a heartbeat.
