Features:
  • Gorgeously grained and very light single piece Ash body!
  • Beautiful color combination with semi- transparent White Blonde body and Mint pickgaurd!
  • Fantastic fret work and rolled fretboard edges!
  • Vintage tint neck; glossier than regular satin, but not too glossy--just right!
  • Second tone knob wired for mid and bridge pick-ups!
  • Perfect intonation out of the box! (a 1st in 30 years for me!)

Quality:

Everything was flawless except the G string nut cut was a tad tight causing a slight bell-like ring on upward bends only. No biggy, Big Bends Nut Sauce has taken care of it. I'll trim it later.

Value:

This is the most amazing part. I got it as an open box used Level 1! Ho Boy!

Seriously though, I'll never sell this guitar because it would cost too much to replace it's build quality.

Overall:

This FSR Standard Ash Stratocaster with Vintage Noiseless Pickups is such a beautiful and well made instrument that I'd put it up against any non-Custom Shop Strat out there. In fact, I joke that the Mexican factory must be pulling for their own Custom Shop!  Well if this is an example of what they can do, I say let 'em have one!

By the way, I was so impressed with this guitar I also bought the Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster version and it's 98% as good! The only difference is the fretboard isn't quite as nicely done... But the frets are!

Keep in mind I own an American deluxe ash strat which costs about 3 times the amount. This guitar comes pretty close in quality if not better in some respects. The resonance on this guitar are extremely good, the guitar loves to ring due to the big trem block and satin neck finish. I also own an American natural ash strat w/maple neck, this guitar is right there in quality once again.  Before I decide to keep any guitar I have my guitar tech gives it the once over. Well he loved the guitar and  has nothing bad to say about the Mexican strats, in fact he states nothing but good things to say about them. The only con I see on this guitar is the resale value being that the neck says made in Mexico. So I plan making  this guitar is a difinate keeper and play the heck out of it without the care of a American deluxe ash Strat.

AWESOME STRAT!

This is my favorite Strat.  I've read other reviews on this guitar and maybe, just maybe I received the "lucky one".  As far as the factory set-up, I had to change it to my taste which is normal for any guitar no matter where its made or what price you paid.  Lucky for me I'm a professional luthier and I didn't have to pay to get it done.  I don't like expensive guitars because I play out for a living and guitars get beaten up very quickly in my hands.  I have an American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster that sounds awesome but I don't like playing it live because I have a tendency to "baby" it too much and that affects my playing.  I'm too careful with it and it makes me play like a wuss for fear of damaging it.  So I wanted a cheap road Strat.  I love the Highway One strats but I always up-grade them with Vintage Noiseless Pick-ups and that would put me in thehigher price range and I didn't want to spend that much.  Plus, I absolutely love the sound of Ash bodies with Maple necks.  Then I saw this one, Ash body, Maple Neck, and Vintage Noiseless Pick-ups for this price.  No way!  I bought it and I'm happy I did.  Why would I buy a Mexican made Stratocaster?  Because it's a huge savings and the quality is just as good.  Wait!  I'll repeat that:  JUST AS GOOD!  And I know quality, I've been playing Strats exclusively for the last 18 years and I've been repairing guitars for 27 years now. I know quality.  This guitar sounds, sustains, and resonates better than my American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster that cost me a lot more.  So guess what, I'm selling my American and buying a Highway One, some Vintage Noiseless Pick-ups, and I'll have money left over for another Fender NOS Blues Jr. Tube Amp.  Bottom line - AWESOME GUITAR.  Or maybe I was just the lucky one.

Expensive for a MIM Strat

I almost bought this guitar but it was really too expensive for a MIM strat. I like the Players strat for a C note less or the Hywy MIA strat for the same price. I have played it and the noiseless pickups are not worth the two hundred dollar difference. I actually control the 60 hum very easily with the volume knob....how about that!

A Standard Strat that rivals an American Signature

Overall:
I keep this concise.  Beautiful Guitar, White Blonde with mint green looks stunning!!! Sure it has some very minor fit and finish flaws, but so did my American made Eric Clapton Signature Strat. Neck is smooth and straight and frets were beautifully done. Neck pocket pretty good, a little off, but more than acceptable Nut is cut a bit oddly but playability and string fitment not affected. No fret buzz and the intonation is 98% spot on.  Even after delayed shipping in the freezing cold Blizzard of 2011. Very little setup was done on my part. Tone and response is awesome, right on par with my EC Signature Strat.  Mercy, dare I say an even warmer tone. (No big suprise here since it has an Ash body and the same vintage noisless pups as in my EC sig). POINT BLANK:  Darn good, and I'm pretty impressed.  I just learned that a $500 guitar can be just as good a $1600 one.  Im set! Also, if you want flawless guality I guess you need a custom shop/master builder guitar.  But if you want great tone, good quality, and smooth playability, all you need is this white blonde noiseless fsr.  Dare I say this, if it came down to it, my EC strat would be sold first for the cash, cause this guitar is a great replacement - No exaggeration!
