The American Tele that's easiest to buy.

Fat frets and hot alnico-magnet single-coils equip this Highway One Telecaster electric guitar so that it's music to your ears, candy for your eyes, and butter under your fingers. The new pickups on the Highway One Telecaster guitar produce a more round sound with that great Fender sparkle; it also has great high-gain sounds. Vintage-style bridge sports barrel saddles on an alder body with a maple neck. Ultralight satin nitro finish lets the wood breathe and ages sweetly.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Features

  • Alder body (Satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish)
  • Rosewood or maple modern C-shaped neck (Satin polyurethane finish)
  • 9.5" fretboard radius
  • 22 jumbo frets
  • '70s styling
  • Greasebucket tone circuit
  • Upgraded hot alnico 3 single-coil pickups voiced for more modern distortion-friendly tones

2008 Fender Highway One Telecaster

Features:

Whats to feature on a no bones guitar?

The only drawback is the standard 3 saddle bridge which I remedied while the guitar was on it's way.

Quality:

The only thing other than the bridge would be the finnish on the body but it gives the guitar character!

Value:

I bought this guitar almost new for a song, Not a scratch on it but I have since knocked it around a bit in the studio. (see character comment above)

Overall:

For the price, new or used, you get an American made iconic sounding Telecaster with that very important "Made in USA" decal on the headstock. The pickups rock the house with no 60hz humm like I had with my strat till I swapped out the originals for noiseless. This guitar is just a no bones workhorse ready to be used and abused and with a little tlc now and then should last you a few lifetimes!

Not Bad, Fender...

Features:

Features on a Telecaster?  That's why I like them, they are all simplicity and function.  However, I could do without the greasebucket tone control (it is properly named).  I am not a fan of super jumbo frets (speed bumps), although some people like them.  The nitro finish is a joke.  I love nitro, but this is more like whitewash for a fence.  I changed out the saddles for brass barrels, and what a tone difference!  And I love the ash tray bridge.

Quality:

This guitar is well made, with no quality control issues.  The tuners are good, the fretwork is good, and the pickups sound decent, although I prefer the ones on the American Standard.  I even managed to get the intonation close...

Value:

This is the best deal going.  Plain Jane, but a US made Tele with good quality control for a reasonable price.  You get your choice of a rosewood or maple fretboard.  What American electric guitar is a better deal?  So what if it's ugly?

Overall:

If you want a good, solid, American made electric guitar, check this out.  You can pay more and get a fancier one, but this one is all there for the money.  And you can swap out components to suit yourself.  If you are a fan of an ash tray bridge, try this baby out.  I bought mine for playing in the bar so I don't have to abuse my favorites, but it is rapidly growing on me.  You really can't go wrong...
