Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Ebony Fingerboard Blackout Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've owned many strat's and tele's but none with an ebony fretboard. The fat cat 50 custom pickup's sound really great and the action on this guitar is very good. I didn't get any discount on the price, but the guitar is well worth the price.

Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Ebony Fingerboard Blackout Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've been jonesing for one of these for a while and finally bit the bullet. I own several American and MIM strats and this one is great. Fit and finish are as expected from an American strat and she plays like butter. The metallic black finish is very cool and the ebony fretboard is great. My only gripes are personal preferences. I wish Fender would give us the option of string gauge. I play 10s and they alway set the strats up with 9s so the first task when I get a new is to do a complete setup. Also, I wish they would put Fender locking tuners on their higher end models. Other than that it's a great guitar and being an LE should hold its value well.

Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Ebony Fingerboard Blackout Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Kudos to MF for great customer service on my return, but a big thumbs down to Fender for poor execution of what is marketed as a special edition, limited production guitar.

After opening the case, I did not even bother to plug this quitar in. The ebony fretboard is very poor quality, with blotchy, brownish coloring and very open grain. No comparison to a Carvin I own with an absolutely gorgeous ebony fretboard that is dark, smooth and very tightly grained. Based on the photos from Fender I had expected the same with the Blackout strat -- but it looks more like rosewood than ebony. In addition, the frets were rough -- more like a MIM strat than my 2003 AM Tele.

Thanks MF for being outstanding with the return.

Fender - you have lost me a customer for now. Looks like Weston Presidio is in profit mode. Good for short-term margins, bad for long-term customer loyalty.

Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Ebony Fingerboard Blackout Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I absolutely love this guitar. The ebony fretboard is excellent to play and looks great. Being 1 of 500 the value should only increase in the future. Comparing this to my dads Fender StratPlus from the early 90's.. I have to say this is the guitar that makes me want to pick up and play. Coupled with a Vox amp the sound is tremendous. And the paint work is absolutely gorgeous!

The one in 500 is taking shape... almost impossible to buy now!

Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Ebony Fingerboard Blackout Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I was looking forward to getting one of these 10 for 15 Blackout Strats mainly because of the ebony fretboard and the Fat 50's pups - which I love. I bought the last one MF had in stock and although it was an open box deal it was designated as "MINT". When I received it I didn't even bother taking it out of the case. The pickguard looked like one you'd find on a five year old guitar, and there were a number of dings on the top of the body. Additionally, the ebony fretboard was probably the ugliest piece of ebony I've ever seen on a guitar. The only good (if you can call it that) was the help I received from the MF rep I talked to about returning it. He was very polite, apologetic, and sent me a return label via email within 5 minutes. The guitar was literally only in my house for 15 minutes before I shipped it back. Shame on Fender for their use of such a sub standard piece of fret wood, and whoever graded the returned guitar as "Mint"
