I purchased this 3/4 size guitar to start an 8-year old grandson in learning the basics of guitar. It is important that young fingers do not feel a lot of pain or they will quickly tire of practicing.
I put a set of light gauge strings on it right out of the box and that helped a great deal.
The guitar is well made and is perfect as a starter instrument.

Nice sound, but unfortunately the intonation was painfully off, more on some strings than others. I tried two guitars, same problem.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

Nice little guitar. I've been playing for a year and originally had a full sized Yamaha. I'm quite petite, so a full size guitar is really awkward. I found this guitar and it completely changed my practice! I've really enjoyed it thus far. I broke my first string doing some weird tuning (lol), so it's out of commission at the moment, but I have recommended it to several people looking for a good starter guitar. It sounds pretty good for the price.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

It is a good feeling guitar. I bought it for my daughter to start learning on and it fits her hands well. I am sure that ounce the strings get broken in it will stay in tune better, or I may go to a different style of strings, all and all, not a bad guitar for the price.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my 7 year old daughter. I read a lot of reviews hoping to buy something that was affordable but sounded great and stays in tune (a known issue for smaller instruments).

I am really impressed with the sound. It sounds great with a nice rich tone. The low tones remind me of the full-size fender that my nephew owns. It stays in tune perfectly.

This is a great guitar for young kids to learn on but would also make a good travel guitar. I play a Takamine, but like picking hers up to play because of the size.

Bought this guitar for my 7 year old grandson as a Christmas gift. Really liked the way it looks right out of the box. Wasn't aware that it came with a gig bag. Only wish I had picked up a couple picks. Haven't used the tuner yet. I tuned it by ear.

At 41 years old I am picking up a guitar for the first time...a dream I have had for years. After much consideration I chose this Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String. Fender is reputable, it's a travel/lighter guitar, it had other really good reviews everywhere, price. The guitar is beautiful and did not need much tuning right out of the box. It sounds great....I love the vibration. I ordered my guitar on a Fri. and had it the following Thurs. (free shipping)

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

I ordered this as to be a little travel guitar that I would use here and there, but I like it so much, I use it more than my Jasmine Dreadnaught.

I expected it to sound pretty tinny, not super warm or mellow or the way an acoustic guitar should sound, but it sounds great. The intonation almost spot-on right out of the box. It comes in a gig bag and includes a truss-rod wrench, which is awesome. Didn't even think something this inexpensive would have a truss rod, but that's a very nice feature.

It only has one strap button, but I bought a Mandolin Strap from Guitar Center and tied a snowboarding boot lace from one hole to the headstock, right under the strings. It's actually very comfortable, especially because this guitar is so light.

I love the satin finish, and the wood is good-looking, too. I had never heard of Agathis before I got this guitar, but I think they should use it in more guitars. When you hit a string, you can feel the ENTIRE guitar vibrate - a true sign of a well-built guitar.

I'd reccomend this for sure if you're trying to learn guitar and want something nice, or if you've been playing for years (like myself) and just want a little guitar for camping of jamming in a car or something. It says "Small scale for small hands" but the fretboard isn't much smaller than a normal guitar at all. Very comfortable to play, but just small enough that a 12 year old or so wouldn't have trouble with it.

Bought this as a guitar to learn on, and I love it. Very good for someone who is a beginner and doesn't want to break the bank. Nice, easy feel for smaller hands or kids, and has a pretty decent sound. Overall, great guitar, fun to play, would definitely recommend.
