I purchased this 3/4 size guitar to start an 8-year old grandson in learning the basics of guitar. It is important that young fingers do not feel a lot of pain or they will quickly tire of practicing.
I put a set of light gauge strings on it right out of the box and that helped a great deal.
The guitar is well made and is perfect as a starter instrument.

Nice sound, but unfortunately the intonation was painfully off, more on some strings than others. I tried two guitars, same problem.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

Purchased for son-in-law to start learning and later hand off guitar to grandson. This is a nice starter guitar and the smaller size is perfect. It is a fun little guitar with decent play-ability and stays in tune very well. Not a robust sound of course due to size but for its intended purpose, it is excellent. Would also be a nice campfire/travel guitar. I am enjoying playing it and breaking it in prior to Christmas gift time.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

It was between this and one of the Little Martins. I just couldn't swing the extra couple hundred for the Martin and got this from MF about a year ago. I Love It! I do a lot of recording and performing on the street as well as in bars and I don't think I would perform with this but the bright, crisp sound is quite nice in my recordings. Given it's size it obviously doesn't have the sound my dreadnoughts have but still has some decent projection. I mostly use this little guy for camping, quick picks, and random jams on the couch but it feels so comfortable and solid that it's really grown on me. It's cheap but it's nice and absolutely worth all of what it's being sold for so don't be afraid to pull the trigger!

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

I love the way this guitar sounds, the way it feels, and the way it looks. I strung it with D'Addario Silk & Steel Silk & Steel strings and put a strap button an the heel of the neck as the guitar does not come with one. I use this guitar as a stress reliever at work. When I get a break, I play for anywhere from two to twenty minutes. There are times when it will sit unplayed for a week or two, but whenever I pick it up, it's still in tune. I can honestly say that I enjoy playing this guitar more than any of the other guitars that I have played, and I have been playing guitar for the past 30 years. I don't know if the marketing department at Fender would go for this, but perhaps they should advertise the Fender MA-1 3/4 as "fun sized," because it is.

I would buy again, especially if Fender added a pickup.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

I also have a Martin D28, but now I am wondering if I should have been on a 3/4 all along. I am 5' 11" and have large hands, but the 3/4 is so comfortable I find myself playing longer. Sound isn't a D28 obviously but it sounds very nice and the volume is more than I expected. Fender advertised that the tuners were upgraded and they are doing well. I would not want a 3/4 if the tuners were subpar.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

Nice little guitar. I've been playing for a year and originally had a full sized Yamaha. I'm quite petite, so a full size guitar is really awkward. I found this guitar and it completely changed my practice! I've really enjoyed it thus far. I broke my first string doing some weird tuning (lol), so it's out of commission at the moment, but I have recommended it to several people looking for a good starter guitar. It sounds pretty good for the price.

It is a good feeling guitar. I bought it for my daughter to start learning on and it fits her hands well. I am sure that ounce the strings get broken in it will stay in tune better, or I may go to a different style of strings, all and all, not a bad guitar for the price.

Comments about Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my 7 year old daughter. I read a lot of reviews hoping to buy something that was affordable but sounded great and stays in tune (a known issue for smaller instruments).

I am really impressed with the sound. It sounds great with a nice rich tone. The low tones remind me of the full-size fender that my nephew owns. It stays in tune perfectly.

This is a great guitar for young kids to learn on but would also make a good travel guitar. I play a Takamine, but like picking hers up to play because of the size.
