Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazzmaster HH with Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

Been playing 33 years and have owned probably 25 electrics. Play Gretsch 6120 and Fender Tele and have been eyeballing a Jazzmaster...but not this one! I was looking at the others twice as expensive but I didn't want all the switches. Ran across this Modern version and immediately dug the looks with the block inlay...I got the black with aged pearl pick guard and it is a classic looking guitar. Played reasonably well out of the box but I took a little relief out of the neck and lowered the bridge and then adjusted the pickup height away from the strings and the thing is perfect. I am still playing around a bit with pick up height to get it perfectly balanced between bridge and neck, higher and lower strings but these pickups sound nice...not as twangy as a Tele and not quite as spanky as a Strat but a great combination of both tones. The neck pickup is thick and smooth, particularly with my OCD and a bit of delay and this guitar sings. The bridge pickup cuts and is as bright and chimey as I would want or expect. For all the reviews about these pickups being too dark....whatever, maybe a bit but I don't get it. The guitar has great tone in my opinion. Quality pots and switches...much better than the Squier versions. Bottom line, while it may not be for everyone, if you like the looks, you will likely like the tone. Highly recommended...glad I didn't drop 2x as much.

Great guitar right out if the box. Almost perfectly in tune, just had to tweak it. Feels great, sounds great and looks great. I take 3 guitars to gigs and still haven't put this one down. Worth every penny. I'm getting another one

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazzmaster HH with Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

First. The pickups. I couldn't find much info when researching. They didn't sound like the video through my Fender Hot Rod. You can kind of hear the bell tone in the video, that they do have,(playing clean) but they are more mellow than that some might say dull. I lowered them and got a brighter sound more like my Tele. The overdrive sound is much fatter than my tele though. The neck pickup is where the bell tone, kind of dull ring, is mostly. Both pick ups together make for a warmer, richer almost acoustic sound when played clean. The bridge pick up only played clean sounds weak to me. Overdrive, distortion make the most out of my tube amp in any of the 3 choices.

I got the crimson model and it is wildly colorful. The set up was almost perfect. I lowered the stings a little.

One thing that I had was some static on the pick guard where I brace my fingers when I play. I have the same problem with my Tele though. Might just be the way I play.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazzmaster HH with Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I'm surprised there's only one review of this guitar. I chose the transparent red model since I prefer it's look. Mine had a good setup out of the box so I was able to start playing with minimal tweaking.
The first thing I noticed was heavier weight of the mahogany. It's not unreasonable since the guitar is evenly balanced. I would suggest buying a padded strap if you play standing up a lot. The contour at the top of the body allows relaxed fit when sitting down. The transparent red finish is mostly flawless with a natural grain showing through.
The maple neck seems (to me) a bit chunkier than others in the modern player series. It's still comfortable and allows for easy access to the upper frets. Frets aren't perfect but pretty good for out of the box.
The tuners feel kind of stiff but are serviceable. The bridge feels solid for the most part and can be locked with the touch of a button. Very handy for non-trem players like myself.
The pickups didn't impress me out of the box but I've managed to play with the height for better results. I can actually get a range of tones from spanky to overdriven with a decent amount of clarity. They also respond well to my multi-effects unit.
Overall, this guitar feels really solid, balanced, easy to play, and capable of a variety of tones. what's not to love?

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazzmaster HH with Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I bought this due strictly on looks and plans of putting some TVJs in it or making it a project somehow. I had my doubts due to country of manufacturing but have to say like anything anymore it depends on who puts it together, this one was well built. Neck is beautiful and clean, Fender should make this available in more colors.
The mahogany body is a bit heavy but not by much, lots of sustain in mine.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazzmaster HH with Maple Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I was at my local guitar shop when they pulled this thing out and I had to play it. The block inlays really caught my eye and the feel of this maple neck is absolutely amazing. The humbuckers are so full and warm that you can really nice clean tone out of it. I personally think as far as money is concerned, this is the best (non American) Fender you can get right now. I am thinking about trading in my fender jag for this thing. So please don't pass up on this guitar if you have the money. You will not regret it.
