I've played about 4 of these guitars, and I finally purchased a Condition 1 model in the sunburst finish from MF. All of these that I've played have been pretty much identical in regard to the things I've noticed.

They all play like much more expensive instruments. For a guitar made in China, this guitar plays like at least a Mexican Tele, maybe even better than that. The sunburst is dynamic and gorgeous, the pine body looks great through the finish as well. Great overall tone, sounds great no matter what kind of tone you want (within reason), I've played through Marshall combos, Marshall stacks, and Vox combos and gotten brilliant tone through all of them. The pickups are fantastic on this guitar, I won't be replacing them.

That said, on all 4 of these that I've played, the humbucker has been set remarkably low, much lower than the middle single-coil, making that middle pickup much more powerful before adjustment. After raising the humbucker in to a more normal position, I get great grit (say that 5 times) from it, it drives extremely well.

If you have the dough, I would not hesitate to grab one of these. You will not regret it.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar locally (I love Musician's Friend, but I like to play an instrument before I make a purchase) and it is a lot of bang for the buck. The neck is really smooth, it's easy to play, and the sustain is excellent. I was ready to spend a lot more money for a quality guitar... played Gibson Les Pauls, SGs, a few Strats, and a few Gretsch and G&L's, looking for that perfect "fit" and for me, it was this Tele. Although it's made in China, it's a big step up from the Squiers and handled just as well as the MIA Fenders I played. (Of course, MIA is the way to go, but for that much more money, I didn't see that much more of an improvement in the tone.)

Also, I purchased the charcoal finish. The picture above doesn't do it justice at all. It's actually quite dark gray and not brown. It's almost black, but you can still see the grain of the wood. The neck also has more of a golden/yellow hue to it, not the white that is shown. It's a beautiful instrument.

If I had to complain about anything, I cut my hand on the saddle-adjustment screws, but I'll eventually get those replaced when I get the intonation and neck professionally set up.

All in all, this is a great guitar if you want something that looks and feels great without breaking the bank.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I first got an Ibanez Maple because of the fast neck and my fingers slowing down from old age. It was a good guitar but just not for me. Didn't have the sweet tone and flat neck was hard to get used to so sent it back and got this telecater. Oh my gosh! It is so fun to play and sounds so sweet. My wife who hates electric guitar even loves it. And for the price, NOTHING can beat it. With the versality of the pick ups, I can get any sould I want out of it and play it with ease. Also, Musicians Friend was awesome in taking back the other guitar and sending this to me. I got it within 3 days after I ordered it.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

Amazing guitar for the price, or for any price. Forget where it's made--this guitar came to me with 100% perfect craftsmanship. Perfect neck, perfect frets, perfect everything. Usable tones too. The funny thing is that mine came with a Squier neckplate, which I decided to keep because the guitar itself was perfect (great grain pattern too--I got the cherry burst--it's amazing). Quit while I'm ahead. I think it's cute. The thing is obviously built at the same factory in China that makes Squiers, they are selling them as Fenders because some people want that, and they mistakenly put a squier plate on mine, but, again, the thing is very very well made. Like, really really nice fret ends, no sharpness, rounded fingerboard. Reminds me of my two Japanese-made mustangs, which are also amazingly well made.

I was so pleased with this awesome service that I will never go anywhere. I recommend getting the protection for any major purchase. Everyone was great and even though there was an issue with the first one I was sent, this is an incredible guitar for the value.

I bought this for future modding and it is exactly what I had hoped for. I recommend the Charcoal Black even if it is not what it appears to be, but both finishes are beautiful. Go online if you want to see what it really looks like.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

Nice guitar. Very versatile. Excellent for home recording where many tones are required but a budget does not allow for many guitars. Actually play this guitar more than my Gibson Les Paul USA MADE because of the neck shape and versatility. Color is really not even close to picture. It's really just black. I was expecting a somewhat "brownish/charcoalish" visible grain thing. Really have to have a bright light on it to see grain at all. "Pretty much black" should be the color title.
