I was impressed with the feel and look of this guitar. For the price, it exceeded my expectations in these categories. However, after a number of months I am selling this guitar because I cannot get the pickups to sound any good. P-90-style pickups are always going to have grit but these are overly loud, lack definition on the low end, and have a blown out sound when strumming or playing aggressively. I have spent a lot of time trying to find settings to avoid this issue and have been unsuccessful.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar and far more than the money suggests. The four pots are more reponsive than my les pauls and the p90s go from sparkly clean to muddy fuzz at my whim. Off the rack, my neck needed some truss rod adjustment and I think the bridge is a bit cheap. But the truss rod adjustment is free and the bridge isn't that big of a change.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe Electric Guitar:

First off, I got this guitar in the sunburst finish, and it is gorgeous. The light finish allows you to see straight through to the grain of the guitar.
Now to the more important things. The electronics work very well. I love the ability to set two independent volumes on my pickups. The neck feels wonderful. The gloss finish makes it a very comfortable playing experience. The only issue I have is that for some reason, if your hand is not on the strings there will be a small hum, even if you have both pickups selected. A minor issue, however, as it does not affect the playing at all.
All in all an excellent guitar at an affordable price.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe Electric Guitar:

First off, I want to say that the pickguard in the picture is misleading. I was hoping it'd be pearloid, and after speaking with someone over the phone who confirmed it would be, I was a bit dissapointed to find it wasn't.

However, I've been enjoying the guitar besides that minor detail. I ditched the strings right off the bat and threw on some D'addrios. It does need a proper set up though (intonation, adjusted, action) I was skeptical about it being "crafted in China" but that dissipated. I dig the P90s, semi-hollow body, fast c shaped maple neck, overall look, feel and price.

It's not perfect, but with some upgrades I can imagine it being superb. Definitely worth picking up.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe Electric Guitar:

                    Amazing.
This guitar is absolutely fantastic. I was initially put of by reading "assembled in China" on the back of the headstock, but to my surprise, this guitar really blew me away. The tones are great, the guitar stays in tune throughout heavy playing, and the action is pretty great. Hammer-ons are easy, the neck is comfortable, and you can really hang on a note for a while when pitch bending too. I highly recommend this guitar.
Excellent quality. The finish is great and I love the vintage tuners. The guitar stays in tune despite heavy playing.
The value is probably the best thing about this guitar! I've played several Thinline Telecasters before, and I'd say the Modern Player series is among the best Thinline Telecasters out there. Again, I know the "assembled in China" thing may be of concern, but don't let it fool you. This thing is a quality product!

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe Electric Guitar:

You can get a nice selection of tones from the P90s. Very versatile pickups. This guitar is great as is and really doesn't need any upgrades. Fender hit a home run with these.
It's pretty straight forward. 2 P90s, 2 volume, 2 tone, 1 switch. I pulled the cover off of one of the pickups. They use Alnico magnets of some type. I'm guessing Alnico 5.
Well made. The fit and finish is execellent. The quality rivals my MIM Tele Thinline. The neck is a nice C shape. No sharp fret ends. It's ready to play right out of the box.
It's a nice Thinline Tele Deluxe for $449. Not a bad deal at all. It's even a better deal if you can find it on sale.
