Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Plus Top with Locking Tremolo, Maple Fingerboard:

Wanted a strat with Floyd rose and all maple neck. This guitar is a looker but buyer beware. Does not come with a gig bag or case, laminate flame top and poor sounding cheap pickups that will have to be changed out if I'm keeping. I'm a big Fender fan but I don't like cutting corners on the things that matter ... Tough call

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Plus Top with Locking Tremolo, Maple Fingerboard:

I really wanted a Fender Stratocaster with a Floyd Rose but specifically with a maple fretboard. Thanks to MF I was able to get one at great price since it was an open box guitar with a slight blemish (pin size ding) that is not very noticeable. The flame maple plus top is a plus. It is made in Mexico, but the quality is high and it is a beautiful guitar that I would not hesitate to buy again. The knock on this type of specific type of guitar are 2 items: the pickups & the non body route for the Floyd Rose. I have similar MIM Fender Strat with the flame top, the IOS Strat with the regular 2 point trem. On both guitars the HSS set up is great and usable. Of course they are not Duncans & EMGs like my other guitars, I believe the tone is my fingers & technique so the pickups don't bother me much. Plus the great thing about a Fender Strat is always having the option to customize it yourself when ever you please. A loaded pick guard or pickup replacement can always come later. For now the pickups get the job done. On the non route up for the Floyd on the body, I have 2 full floating guitars with Floyds and always love it until you break a string, and the have to set up the whole guitar again. I have a EVH Wolfgang that is the same Floyd set up as this Fender, downward motion only, no upward pull, and no routed body. As you may know EVH himself prefers it this way. I love the EVH & the more I played it, I started to prefer the the Floyd set up this way only going downward. So there's no issue with that on this Fender. Plus having it this way saves a lot of time to change a broken string and no set up headaches. I love this guitar and what really motivated me to get this was seeing Iron Maiden in concert recently and just seeing how Dave Murray and Adrian Smith play all those great songs on this similar type of guitar. The only con I sort of have and it really doesn't bother me much anymore is why is Fender still making 21 fret guitars and 9.5 radius boards?

    Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt & free, tax free purchase. Packing was secured and guitar was not damaged. I been buying from Musicians Friend since high school before the internet through their catalogs back in the early 90s. This is the most expensive item I have bought and will look forward to buying from the again.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Plus Top with Locking Tremolo, Maple Fingerboard:

Very attractive guitar, but when it comes down to power in the pickups, it`s not there
for this guitar to perform, swipe out pickups, then you will be rocking. sent the guitar back MF.
call fender for sound advice, instead trade for a Fender deluxe HSS
