I play my Standard constantly through big and small amps. In a small room, it sounds great unplugged. I will never regret getting this guitar. It sounds good for rhythm chords and fingerpicking, and the neck and big frets make it easy to play.

That said, it's a tele, and if this is your first, you need to know what that means. The tele design has barely been changed since its inception. It is a heavy, plank-like guitar that won't win any heavy metal beauty contests. The single coil pickups sound twangy but clear, unlike the dark, muddy sound of many humbucker (double coil) pickups. I have some pedals, but mainly play straight from the guitar because its tone is so clear that it is a shame to muddy it up with extra electronics. This is a guitar that begs to be paired with a tube amp (Class A if possible)--it could get shrieky with hard transistors. There are only three modes (neck pickup, bridge pickup, both pickups) so if you want lots of electronics to fiddle with, you won't find it here. That said, there's little to go wrong with this tele--it's built like a tank. I recommend Fender strings--they have a little bullet that couples closely with the body and they give you plenty of length when you are changing the high E string at the top of the peghead. The only change I made to my tele was the strings.

If you love to play guitar, you'll love this guitar.

If you want more volume, get
If you want a tele, this is one. It has all the Standard Tele features. Two single-coil pickups- one quacky one at the bridge and a mellow one near the fretboard. Nice big frets make it easy to play. Machine heads that work the same as on my American 60th Anniversary Tele. Maple neck--ash body.
Mine came with stratocaster style saddles that are a little easier to adjust for intonation and height than the saddle bridge advertised with this guitar. The saddles might sound better.
This guitar is made in Mexico. Some of my best friends were made in Mexico, too, so it's not a problem. The upshot is that you have to examine your guitar when you get it to make sure that everything's the way you want it.
The first Standard I ordered had a great 2-piece ash body with nice, close grain. However, the neck was a little warped (within the tolerances of chain music stores, but not OK for me). I sent it back with no trouble and received a tele with an arrow-straight neck, three-piece body with wider grain than the first one. It plays great and I kept it. There were no finish flaws in either guitar, and the hardware was perfect.
I recommend you get the intonation and string height set when you get the guitar. Or do it yourself for free. My tele came with instructions and tools to do both.
This guitar is all value. I bought this guitar as a backup and to play for my last year at work. The frets and neck are just as playable as my American Standard 60th Anniversary tele. The pickups sound different, but not different enough that I can explain how. The guitar looks terrific. How can you go wrong with this guitar?

Georgeous looking guitar from a distance. Had some build problems. The bridge was installed crooked due to a mounting screw that wasn't drilled perpendicular to the body and the shape of the headstock behind the nut was crooked. The bridge pickup sounded dull. The neck pickup had some snap. Overall it felt like the assemblers were rushed to get this out the door. Too bad as the neck felt great and the guitar was georgeous.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar Ash:

When I saw this model advertised and read the nearly perfect user reviews, I figured now was the time to finally replace the Tele I had on the road with me in the mid '70s. I was a little disappointed with the factory setup when it arrived...the intonation was terrible on 4 strings. I got out my tuner and a screwdriver, replaced the strings, tweaked the saddles, and cranked out a very slight amount of bow from the neck. In less than an hour I had the intonation perfect everywhere on the neck with perfect action! Tone is great, as well as the fit/finish/craftsmanship/appearance. Now it's hard to decide which to call my main guitar...this or my '79 Strat.

Heavy. Beautiful. Solid. Slick. A joy to pick up and play. Sounds amazing. For this price? How? This will be my go to electric guitar till the day I die. I was worried about the "standard pickups" being noisy, since that's what "people" say, but...i run it from clean to heavy distortion, and still don't need a noise gate. I love this guitar and have never felt better about a purchase.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar Ash:

I've owned two Fender MIM Telecasters and both have been fantastic and provided me with countless hours of entertainment and noodling. Along with this Tele, I bought a Fender Lonestar Stratocaster. I A&B'd them for a few days and ended up returning Lonestar. Shockingly, the Telecaster outshined the Strat (which costs hundreds of $$$ more). Most of my favorite guitarists play Strats, so I didn't think the competition would be close. While the Lonestar had more sensitive pickups, it did not have the bass of the lower strings like the Telecaster. The Strat had a lot more treble, so perhaps if you using it in a band setting, the Strat would work. But for sheer tone and playability, I'm all about the Tele. The only bad thing I can say about this Telecaster is that it's a little on the heavy side, but after a few days I got used to it.

This guitar sounds great. The ash adds a lot of nice "spankiness" to the tone. The neck feels great, the pickups sound good and the natural wood grain looks as good as any Am Stndrd Tele I've seen.
It sounds great for blues, old school rock and country twang. I have zero complaints.
I even dialed in a metal tone on my Vox amp and it even sounded good.
You get the great look and killer tone for a lot less than the AST.

This is my first electric guitar. I've always wanted a telecaster, and two years ago when I started to teach myself the acoustic, I said I wanted to get a telecaster by the time I turned 30. Well, a week before my birthday I bought this guitar and she's a dandy! Definitely would reccommend buying this one!

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar Ash:

This Standard Ash Telecaster (Natural) has all the characteristics of a vintage Telecaster: ash body, maple fretboard, vintage-style frets and alnico Tex-Mex pickups.

If weight is not an issue for you (mine weighs 9.6 pounds), then there are absolutely no drawbacks or needs to upgrade this Telecaster.

It came out of the box looking, playing and sounding fantastic. All that was needed was a new set of strings (I use D'Addario 10's and this Tele comes with Fender 9's) and a basic setup - and as a personal preference, I added a Fender black pickguard because nothing says "Vintage Telecaster" like a black pickguard. ;-)

If you're on the fence about which Standard Telecaster to add to your arsenal, then jump off that fence toward the greener side and buy one of these fine instruments. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This a real nicely finish, playable Ash/Maple neck Telecaster. To be honset, I had a guitar tech expert friend go over it & do a set-up after receiving it but he liked it as well. I switched to 10 gauge strings for personal taste, but the Tele is a tight, solid feeling, good looking guitar that doesn't resemble the low price for a Fender Mex-Tele.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar Ash:

I was born the same year that Fender started,1946. I'm a retired professional musician who still plays on occasion. I also retired from high school music teaching (band/orchestra) so I have a lot of experience. I already own 13 guitars, but I bought this tele because the guys who I play with love them. I've played Fender basses since the mid-sixties, own a couple of strats, but this is my first tele. I just love it. If you are a person who could only have one electric guitar, then you can't do better than this. It's the essence of all electric guitars and it is versatile. Buy it!
