The thing about a Telecaster is the simplicity of it. This guitar is a solid made instrument. Stripped down, basic Tele. It doesn't have the body contours, pick-ups and machine heads of the USA models. But make no mistake, this is one solid guitar! Very good quality, sound and playability. Got that classic Tele "twang". A variety of tone can be pulled out of this guitar. A little heavier than the USA models as well! Before you drop the cash on an American model, play one these first. You'll be hard pressed to tell the difference other than visual appointments. I've been playing guitar for 50 years now and still can't believe the guitar you get for this price! It's a steal! I have Gibsons, but always wanted a Tele just for the sound that they produce. This guitar's tone and quality is every bit as good as the high end guitars that I own. If you purchase this guitar, you will be very impressed and not disappointed. I figure just a matter of time the MIM Tele's price is just about to skyrocket! The secrets out, folks! Get one at this price while you can!

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

The thing that struck me from the first couple minutes of playing this guitar was the quality and the sound. Pickups are fairly hot for single coils, but still give that classic Tele sound. The guitar just sounds suberb. The electronics are quality, no issues, but there is a slight difference in the resistance between tone and volume knobs (common). Fit and finish is suberb, frets are perfect, bridge, pickups ect are perfectly aligned. The finish is even and contains zero flaws with the small exception of the plastic truss rod hole insert, which had a small burr. I wish they went with wood like on the American versions, but I'm not going to complain for the value in this model. Setup was good from the factory, intonation perfect, the truss rod needed a tweak, but that can be attributed to a change in climate from the factory to my home. The neck feels great, smooth, I love the C shape and satin finish. Overall this guitar represents a pretty incredible value. Throw in the aftermarket pickups of your choice and I couldn't see a functional difference to an American model. Really impressed Fender.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Have been playing since 1968. Not a professional but gig pretty regularly. Bought mine about 14 months ago from a local retailer. Finish is beautiful (burst), neck is superb and over all sound is exactly what I hoped for from a Tele. I play blues and blues-based rock through an older American made Blues Junior and it seems to be a perfect match for this guitar. I still get the kind of silky tone I like for that kind of music but with enough Tele twang now to give my attack the enunciation it needs to cut through the mix. MiM didn't bother me a bit. The build was flawless and the price allowed me to still support an American manufacturer.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Actually bought this as a gift for my son who was looking for something that provided some contrast to his Gretsch Electromatic. I'm a Gibson and Fernandes fan but he is in a couple bands with people who play Fender's and this is what he wanted. Took a chance on a MIM model that was open box and saved myself 20% in the process. No marks, blemishes, etc. that I could find. All electronics are good and set up was largely done well - harmonics at the 12th fret were a hair off on a couple strings. He has been playing it a lot over the last couple of days and is happy with it.

Just what i expected. String were junk but i put a set of NYXLs on it and some fast fret and it plays pretty good out of the box. Still getting used to the pickup as my other tele has p90s but its a solid player.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have wanted a telecaster for 25 years but extra money for something just for dad just never happened. Although I have been "playing" all this time I am still a fairly novice player. A not to young players, you dont understand how much time you have for learning and playing right now when you dont have a family to feed! Use it wisely! At any rate I finally had the money and went to a couple of local shops to try different models. I thought i would want a "classic vibe" which always has rave reviews but the ones i played sounded aweful and had major frett buzz. Perhaps that was just the setup but it turned me off. I also played an a couple of American models, a couple sounded good but again most had a lot of frett buzz and I didnt think they sounded 3 times as good as the mexican standard telecaster.

very impressed. nice rounded frets. a perfect complement to my usa strat. great tone on the neck pickup. flawless construction. my only con is that the high e string is a little to close to the edge of the neck for my liking. I have compared it with made in USA models and this seems to be inherent with the tele design. very happy with this guitar.

I'm basically a acoustic guitarist owning two Martins. Anyone wanting a good Tele to learn to play and serious about it this a good one. Build in Mexico who cares, this guitar was ready to play when I unpacked it. No complaints so take the plunge and go for it.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I don't want to ramble. This guitar is choice. The pickups are hot. I get a squealing, roaring sound through my Orange amp with light brit style distortion. It has a lot more reverb than I expected.
The neck is the best I have ever had. I had an American Standard tele, MIM Strat, Gibson SG, and this is the BEST neck I have ever played. The gloss maple is lightning quick and I am able to pull off some really quick-hitting Jack White style solo work with a lot more ease. I love the string tension vs. a strat, and after years of wondering, I know i am a tele guy and not a strat guy. I don't like country music but I can see how this would be effective for that too. I play a lot of rhythm guitar which requires a glorious, slow upstroke for a few measures at a time and tone is everything.
