I bought one of these, when they first came out. I believe that was about 10 years ago, or more. They were re-marketed under the Squire moniker, on their second run. I see that they have gone back to having Fender on the headstock, once again.
In all mine has been a good little guitar, no complaints. Withstands the usual wear and tear. Still sounds good, on an amp or not. Never used it to play a venue. Mainly for practice.
I would say that this would be a great guitar for a beginner, just because it's so easy to play. Plays a lot like an electric, but forces you to play cleaner, as an acoustic. It's size is a plus for younger or smaller framed individuals. Sometimes a standard acoustic guitar can seem daunting to a smaller player, then they just don't practice as much.
BTW: They should offer them in more colors, like they use to. Mine is in Silver Flake. I believe they use to come in Brandywine, as well.

The action is so high its barely playable, if a novice tried to learn how to play on this,They would give up, and I wouldn't blame them. I'm going to have too take it apart, and shave the saddle down.
Has fender gone down hill? I don't know. But it was made in China. I would say
go to a music store and play one, maybe the guitar tech set it up better, don't buy one online like I did.
I hope this helps

Good for pacticing without having to plug in

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

You're not going to record a hit single on this guitar but it's good for a student who wants to practice without the hassle of having to plug into an amp. The tone is good although you won't get a lot of sustain, specially on the higher frets. It is better for open chords although it is great for picking and melody tunes. From the reviews I've read, I mean c'mon! They are reviewing it as it were a high end guitar, which it's not but it is very useful and fun to play. People that want to buy a mass made instrument and want it to sound like a stradivarious. If you want a low action top of the notch tone guitar then get a Martin or a Taylor but it holds its own to other EA guitars I tested before buying it such as the Epiphone. I like the fact that I can add pedals and make it sound like an electric (overdrive or delay) with my boss acoustic simulator I can make it sound like a gibson jumbo. I love the fiber glass body because you don't have to worry about scrtching or dinging it. I love it and I have progressed with it a lot, more then I would have if I had a nylon guitar because, because it has metalic strings, I've developed my calluses to the point where if I play an acoustic or an electric they feel like butter. The action on these is very high coming straight from the factory but if you place three itune cards on the base of the neck, as I did and sand down the bridge a bit you wont have any trouble, but you have to remember that it's an acoustic and the action is always higher on an acoustic than in an electric. It also helps for the guitar to have low gauge strings, I recommend 9's. Taking all of this into consideration it's a great bang for your buck. Hope you get the guitar that takes you where you want to be.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I fell in love with the Tele because of this guitar. This guitar, same with the Strat model, is great for those that want an acoustic who don't really play acoustics. I got this guitar because I wanted a nice acoustic that didn't have the large body depth. I'm not big on acoustics, but if you need that sound for whatever reason or to practice, it's great for that. You get some bronze strings on there and they sound great. To me, the sole purpose of getting this guitar is to have a good acoustic, and to practice on.

      telecoustic review

By The Male Confessor- Son of Kahlan

      from Shenandoah , VIRGINIA

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Good and bad ! Very good for single note melodies when electrified . ( expensive to keep around to use on just one song )
Does not sound as good as a mic'd 000 body
      acoustic .
Still a high action nightmare . Can't remember
how many times I took the neck off to shim it .
Filed down bottom of spare saddle repeatedly .
The guitar is not worth paying big bux for
a high priced LUTHIER to dress the frets and further set-up ! If you can get the
action right and get it to stay there , you
may let someone sitting in play it ! If you have plenty of money and short on guitars , it is okay for a unique intro melody line plugged in . That did sound nice on the recording .A tone like Sarah McLaughlin's LIVE version of " I LOVE YOU " ,the acoustic guitar solo ! Maybe silk and steel strings would help it for other stuff .(?) The nut width was supposed to be : 1-11/16 " but it was the beginner 1-5/8 ". Put your money towards something with a proven track record . Good Luck ! Hope you don't get burned

      Painfully Sharp Edges

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Unplugged it sounds like plastic, which I was expecting (it is plastic). Plugged in, it sounds fine for live shows. I was hoping it would be as comfortable as a solid-body Telecaster. It is not. It's a little thicker & has a sharp binding that painfully digs into my arm when I play. I'm not sure if Fender could improve it. Simply put, a standard Telecaster fits my body perfectly, you start messing with the dimensions & edges & a dreadnought is actually a lot more comfortable to me. Considering this fact, I do not know why a person would choose a Telecoustic over a true acoustic-electric.

          Fender Telecoustic

          By dorraine stepp

          from Jackson, Ohio

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

          Best acoustic electric ever played
I am very pleased with this guitar, it has a great sound. Very fast playing neck, as smooth as any electric tele that I have ever played. Strings were a little heavy, but I replaced them with EB 10's. Haven't been able to put it down. As far as acoustics go, its not as loud as my dad's martin, but will hold its own against any shellback or thin line acoustic I've ever played. As far as electric sound goes, I put it to the test with my brother's line 6 150 watt half stack. Sound was awesome, just as good as my brother's Ibenez. I had to take it away from him. Great price too! I recommend this guitar to anyone, looking for a good playing, good sounding electric acoustic guitar.
