You have to own one of these to realize the terrific value of having an acoustic with a real Fender bolt on neck. Set it up right and it will play great and fast. The composite body makes it light and durable, the action can be set very low. I use 10's on my Tele Deluxe, so I can get a very similar feel. My Telecoustic is one of the first issues, red, and does not have the built in tuner, but the Fishman pickup is very good. The range of plugged in sounds is fantastic, and I'll use it at church sounding close to a nylon string for one tune and a bright steel string sound for another. It responds, like any guitar, to the level of the player. The Telecoustic presents a variety of different sounds, and plugging into my pedal board just expands the possibilities. You have to remember what it is, an inexpensive electric accoustic. I like it a lot better than my son's more expensive Ovation. This is a very useful, inexpensive, and durable intrument. I think it is a terrific buy.

Unplugged it sounds like plastic, which I was expecting (it is plastic). Plugged in, it sounds fine for live shows. I was hoping it would be as comfortable as a solid-body Telecaster. It is not. It's a little thicker & has a sharp binding that painfully digs into my arm when I play. I'm not sure if Fender could improve it. Simply put, a standard Telecaster fits my body perfectly, you start messing with the dimensions & edges & a dreadnought is actually a lot more comfortable to me. Considering this fact, I do not know why a person would choose a Telecoustic over a true acoustic-electric.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I fell in love with the Tele because of this guitar. This guitar, same with the Strat model, is great for those that want an acoustic who don't really play acoustics. I got this guitar because I wanted a nice acoustic that didn't have the large body depth. I'm not big on acoustics, but if you need that sound for whatever reason or to practice, it's great for that. You get some bronze strings on there and they sound great. To me, the sole purpose of getting this guitar is to have a good acoustic, and to practice on.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought one of these, when they first came out. I believe that was about 10 years ago, or more. They were re-marketed under the Squire moniker, on their second run. I see that they have gone back to having Fender on the headstock, once again.
In all mine has been a good little guitar, no complaints. Withstands the usual wear and tear. Still sounds good, on an amp or not. Never used it to play a venue. Mainly for practice.
I would say that this would be a great guitar for a beginner, just because it's so easy to play. Plays a lot like an electric, but forces you to play cleaner, as an acoustic. It's size is a plus for younger or smaller framed individuals. Sometimes a standard acoustic guitar can seem daunting to a smaller player, then they just don't practice as much.
BTW: They should offer them in more colors, like they use to. Mine is in Silver Flake. I believe they use to come in Brandywine, as well.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Good and bad ! Very good for single note melodies when electrified . ( expensive to keep around to use on just one song )
Does not sound as good as a mic'd 000 body
                acoustic .
Still a high action nightmare . Can't remember
how many times I took the neck off to shim it .
Filed down bottom of spare saddle repeatedly .
The guitar is not worth paying big bux for
a high priced LUTHIER to dress the frets and further set-up ! If you can get the
action right and get it to stay there , you
may let someone sitting in play it ! If you have plenty of money and short on guitars , it is okay for a unique intro melody line plugged in . That did sound nice on the recording .A tone like Sarah McLaughlin's LIVE version of " I LOVE YOU " ,the acoustic guitar solo ! Maybe silk and steel strings would help it for other stuff .(?) The nut width was supposed to be : 1-11/16 " but it was the beginner 1-5/8 ". Put your money towards something with a proven track record . Good Luck ! Hope you don't get burned

The action is so high its barely playable, if a novice tried to learn how to play on this,They would give up, and I wouldn't blame them. I'm going to have too take it apart, and shave the saddle down.
Has fender gone down hill? I don't know. But it was made in China. I would say
go to a music store and play one, maybe the guitar tech set it up better, don't buy one online like I did.
                            I hope this helps

                                Best acoustic electric ever played
I am very pleased with this guitar, it has a great sound. Very fast playing neck, as smooth as any electric tele that I have ever played. Strings were a little heavy, but I replaced them with EB 10's. Haven't been able to put it down. As far as acoustics go, its not as loud as my dad's martin, but will hold its own against any shellback or thin line acoustic I've ever played. As far as electric sound goes, I put it to the test with my brother's line 6 150 watt half stack. Sound was awesome, just as good as my brother's Ibenez. I had to take it away from him. Great price too! I recommend this guitar to anyone, looking for a good playing, good sounding electric acoustic guitar.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for the money. In fact I would expect the price to be a little higher. It is beautiful, has good tone and unlike some other comments that I have read, it plays well just as an acoustic. Maybe not on stage by itself, but I love it for practicing. The action was a little high and the fret edges were a little sharp, no problem my guitar tech to correct.

This is not my main guitar as I play a Strat and a Gretsch, but I enjoy it and it sounds great played through my fender tube amp! Life with Fender is good!

Fender, as always, you do an Excellent job with quality and affordability! Thank you Musician's Friend for making this available!

                                Rock on,

                                Wayne
The onboard tuner is a bonus and is excellent! The neck feels good as any fender would. Nice tone especially with Optima ten's strings.
Very well built. This gem is solid.
Much more guitar than I would expect for the money. Don't be afraid to buy this guitar, set it up and then enjoy it!
