An acoustic-electric with attitude.

Based on Tim Armstrong's beat-up old Sixties acoustic, on which he writes all the songs for the legendary punk band Rancid, the Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat acoustic-electric guitar is ready to slam its way into the mosh pit. Tim has given his acoustic some modern flair and style with pearl acrylic "Hellcat" logos on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th frets while a couple of skulls adorn the 12th fret. Other features include a Fishman® Isys III preamp with built -In tuner, strap button, scalloped bracing, solid mahogany top and a look that will have you singing "Roots Radicals" till your Mohawk is ready for its next trim. Fender includes Tim's custom "Let's Go" guitar strap that perfectly complements this acoustic's edgy visuals.

I'm normally not compelled to write reviews of this nature but I'm very happy to sing the praises of the Fender Hellcat. Great sound, great feel, great value. I highly recommend giving it a spin!
For the price you get quite the bang for your buck.

What initially caught my attention was the unique look. The vintage looking headstock, with very cool vintage tuners and the skull and "Hellcat" inlays help make it stand out among other guitars. Lookwise it has a nice vintage motif overall.

The Fishman setup sounds absolutely gorgeous and crisp when plugged in. You can never go wrong with a built-in tuner either. Unplugged it sounds great too, very crisp, especially with new strings (obviously, but still ;)). The concert style body has a really smooth feel, the neck is easy to play. I did a little adjusting on the action, mainly for preference, but other then that it sounds great right off the shelf.
It's pretty remarkable this guitar is in this price range. Like another reviewer noted, they could easily charge double. Fortunately for we consumers it's not going to break the bank. It's just a real quality product all around, well worth the investment.
I've only had it for a couple of months and I've already gotten plenty of mileage on it. I've played with it live, recorded with it, written on it. A great instrument to me isn't necessarily one that I'd have to spend more money for, but one that is a good fit to my tastes and sensibilites. And this one is a PERFECT fit all around. I know I'll be using it a good deal in the years to come.

This is my third guitar I've owned it's also the best. I started off with ebay buys and hand me downs. However, now that I'm playing guitar more and with other people with other brands I can say that it's not as loud as others. The pros however outweigh the loudness. I love it, it's small (I'm small), the frets are nice, it's awesome when you plug it in -- so over all I'm happy with my purchase. The sound just makes me play louder anyways :p

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for about 40 years now, and I bought this guitar about two and half years ago and with out a doubt this is by far the best acoustic guitar I have ever had the pleasure of playing. I use it more that the electric. It has an action the same as an electric. I was surprised at how easy it was to play lead on this guitar. I usually run this through a marshall 50 watt. Sounds great with or with out the amp. I would definitely recommend this guitar to anyone who is in the market for an electric acoustic.

This is a stunning guitar! The sound is incredible plugged in and played unplugged. The body is not too big. The quality of the guitar is beautifully made. The onboard tuner is a great feature too! Tim Armstrong is the man! I would also be lying if I didn't say I bought this because I am a Rancid fan too! Rancid fan or not, get this guitar!

This is the coolest guitar I ever bought. Came ready to play but I adjusted the truss rod to my liking while changing the strings. Great action, pickup and eq are good. Well made, smaller, which is what I wanted. Perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a very nice, affordable, smaller, travel ready acousic/electric. I can't say enough good things about this guitar, I love it.

I play in a Bar Cover / Original band. We play out at least 3 days a week. I was looking for a inexpensive beater guitar to take to shows. Gear gets beat up rather fast when you play out a lot so I wanted something that sounded good that Iwouldnt mind getting beat up a bit. Well Iwas totally suprised by the quality of this guitar. It has a big body sound. Its very versatile & sounds great. Honestly I can get any sound I want. Perfect guitar for the price. Best bang for the buck. I could careless about the skull & cats on the fretboard. My dauhter loves them though . Lol seriously this guitar is perfect for a beginner or a pro. Highly recomended to anyone. 5 Stars for sure.

This Fender sounds great and is just so fun to play. I've been playing drums for decades and only flirted with guitar until this year. The Hellcat has been my main learning axe, and it's bad to the bone. Way better than expected, as other reviewers have said. Built-in tuner is super-convenient, and when I get good enough to do a tune on guitar with my band, I can plug into the PA with the Fishman preamp/pup.

This baby beat my wildest expectations. I seriously expected some Squiere hunk of junk with a few cool inlays. No SIR! Right out the box this baby just needed a little tuning. I ran through my regular jams, some covers, some funky tunings and this beast kept up the entire time. The body structure and look give it a distinctive dustbowl Woody Guthrie feel. This guitar marries the best of Punk Rock and Folk/Country together. The really deep "E" and body structure creates an amazing resonance that kinda makes your arm hair stand up. Truly an awesomely crafted guitar. I've played Martin's that didn't have this much personality or effort put into them. It also has great volume for singer songwriters who actually can sing in their range. I've played dreadnaughts where singing was more work than playing. The neck is CLASSIC FENDER. I used to play a Gemini II and this is an AMAZING improvement. Probably the best Fender Acoustic I've played for under 500 bucks.
