Comments about Fender USA Professional Standard Telecaster HS:

I've been a Fender guy (with a few deviations) since 1961, and I now, only play Blues...and I've NEVER heard a Fender sound like this!!! And it's so versatile, you can get pretty much any tone you want from it...I perform in places that attract world class guitar players, and the ones that have heard me play this (I've only had it a week), all say they've never heard a Tele sound like this...best Blues machine Fender has ever made!!! Right outta the box, immaculate finish; action and intonation perfect; tone...OMG, the neck pup can compete with Gibsons, the bridge humbucker is AMAZING!!! Quality? It's an American Fender...nuff said! I will have this Tele forever...I highly recommend that you find one and try it...I promise you won't be disappointed.

Comments about Fender USA Professional Standard Telecaster HS:

I've played music for over half my life, and was in a touring rock band for about 4 years. This is my 8th electric guitar. I've owned three Schecters, and 4 Fender Strat models.

This is the best guitar I've ever played. If I had owned a guitar like this a decade ago, I imagine I would have written a lot more songs on the electric. This guitar is great for both rhythm and lead. The bridge zebra humbuckers really spit. I'll use them if I'm playing something heavier on the low E, A, and D strings. I've written a lot of music in drop C (all strings 4 steps down from reg. tuning). To do this I use thick gauge jazz strings--and while I haven't set up this guitar for drop C tuning and heavy gauge strings yet, I am 99% sure they'll sound fantastic with the zebra humbuckers.

I haven't changed the setup yet because this guitar sounds perfect right out of the box. I've owned it a few weeks now. My fingers are used to a few hours straight on heavy gauge acoustic strings. These strings are light gauge electric, and I've played the Tele enough to put blisters on 3 fingers (my pinky's coming along).

The middle pickup setting is great for rhythm and lead. I'll use it for rhythm if I'm using all strings (big and thin) equally. I often play with 9th chords, which requires both low and high strings. Guitars need a lot to make this sound amazing. This Tele makes them sound flawless! Flawless Intonation, flawless action, flawless pickups--I'll use the middle pickup setting, and every note can be heard beautifully. (Hendrix is known for 9th chords if you want to know generally how they sound).

Playing lead is no different. Even when I pick 1 of 5 notes (and hammer 4 of 5), I can hear the notes perfectly. The neck pickup works best for cleaner lead, but even then, you've got that fantastic unique Tele pop.

I underestimated Telecasters for years. I figured they couldn't growl enough. They're so often touted for for blues, jazz, and classic rock. Yes, I know Johnny Ramone (of the... what band was he in again?) played a Telecaster. But my roots are in Seattle (with that one guy, Captain Kirk Co-bang or something). My style implements folk, classic rock, alternative rock, progressive rock/metal (yeah Opeth), and... Jazz. You can call about anything jazz if you jam on a bass-line long enough and ignore scales. I also play with a lot of slap. And this guitar can do it all for me. (Ok, I haven't tried any Opeth yet.)

So if you want a guitar that is great for writing songs, playing rhythm and lead in a wide range of styles, and has a look that exemplifies perfection--get this.

The ONLY reason I wouldn't get it is if you are a "no compromise, nothing else but deathmetal" guitarist. But if that's you, why are you looking at Telecasters? Did you take a wrong turn looking for the Ibanez section?

Bought this on an impulse about a year ago. This is my favorite guitar I've owned out of about a dozen. For me this is the perfect guitar for tele lovers who also like to reach into the realm of Gibson bite and tone. You don't quite have the classic Roy Nichols country bite with this guitar. Fender has instead slid the scale to a more modern rock sound. You can reach almost all of the creamy fender tones through the neck and hit Les Paul or SG like sounds with the bridge. Flawless playability and great electronics too. Balance, feel, sound. Can't recommend enough!

Comments about Fender USA Professional Standard Telecaster HS:

I have never played a more versatile guitar in my life. The amount of different tones is endless. The custom wound pick ups sound fantastic. They really do sound custom. I have never heard pickups with so much character. And the coil splitting button just tops it all off. The most impressive thing about this guitar though is the intonation. I have only had the guitar 4 days and from day 1 the intonation was perfect. It does not go out of tune. The only issue I had was the nut was not cut deep enough on the A, D and G strings. But that is a simple fix. Once I filed those nut grooves down I was bending all over the place and doing it with ease. The neck is super smooth and easy to play. The frets are higher than my Strat which I absolutely love. Oh and the sunburst finish is flawless. This is a guitar that will be in my collection forever.

Comments about Fender USA Professional Standard Telecaster HS:

Great looking, beautiful finish. Not exactly a true Tele tone but close. Real close. Like most push pulls you have to add volume with the single coil, but once you reset the volume accordingly, sounds great. Sounds almost like you added a twinge of chorus. Only guitar I ever had that I had to roll back the treble a bit. This thing really bites. The humbucker also adds a nice growl. A sound of it's own. My only complaint is the tall frets. I play a lot of leads out of chords and I tend to push the chords out of tune while pulling and bending other strings. After I play it a while, I will get use to it. Great USA tele for the money.

Comments about Fender USA Professional Standard Telecaster HS:

Most Teles with humbuckers have them in the neck. That's great for blues, jazz, motown, etc, but not too great for heavier styles. I had been looking for an American-made Telecaster similar to an early 90's Telecaster Plus but they are going for outrageous prices because they are fine instruments but very rare. Finally my prayers have been answered. I predict that these will someday be very sought-after instruments. So buy one while you can!

The S1 switch makes this guitar so versatile. Traditionalist naysayers may be skeptical of the bridge humbucker but in split mode it's capable of classic tele twang in spades, probably due to the fact that it's more of a brightly voiced vintage output humbucker as opposed to a ripping distortion machine (think PAF or 57 classic). In split mode I compared it to my standard Tele and there is no discernable difference.

This was the exact combination of features I was looking for. Rosewood fretboard, HS configuration, coil splitter, and American-made! A lot of Tele purists scoff at the idea of a Tele bridge humbucker, but those of us who like them really like them a lot.

Comments about Fender USA Professional Standard Telecaster HS:

I owned an American Special Tele a while back, but it was too clean for my style even with EMG pickups installed. I've wanted another Tele since selling the last one but was still concerned about the lack of grit in your typical Tele.
When I saw this USA Professional Standard Tele at Musicians Friend, I knew it was exactly what I was waiting for!
It is truly the best of both worlds! It has a fabulous clean tone on the neck pickup, but when it's time to get down, watch out! That Zebra Bucker will scream! And with the S-1 coil tap, the Zebra Bucker cleans up nicely as well!
Now if I could just think of a name for it
