OVERVIEW

From Studio artists to gigging musicians, Gibson's Les Paul Studio is pure rock tone.

Since 1983, Gibson USA has been proving not only that less is sometimes more, but also that less can sometimes knock your socks off “ when it comes in the form of the popular no-nonsense Les Paul Studio model, at least. Originally designed as a model for studio artists but adopted wholeheartedly by countless players of all stripes, the 2013 Les Paul Studio combines stripped-down appointments with the full tonal splendor and unrivaled playability of a Les Paul Standard.

All the elements of the legendary Les Paul Standard are still there, including that fat and sweet maple-and-mahogany tone through two genuine Gibson humbucking pickups. By eliminating a little of the window dressing “ namely, building the guitar without binding around the body top or fingerboard, and applying an elegant gold silkscreened logo in place of an inlay “ the Les Paul Studio weighs in at a price that players have found irresistible for three decades.

Crucial elements of the Les Paul Studio' design include the carved maple top and mahogany body, glued-in mahogany neck with back-angled headstock, granadillo fingerboard, Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece “ all design points that have been making Les Pauls the most desirable tone monsters available since the late 1950s. For electronics, a set of Gibson' 498T and 490R Alnico humbucking pickups squeeze every drop of tone from the instrument, and now feature coil-taps for an even broader range of tonal possibilities.

With these classic ingredients, the Les Paul Studio gives you all the sonic versatility you could ask for, from sultry, warm bluesy tones to powerful crunch to sizzling lead tones. Finally, the Les Paul Studio is supremely playable too, thanks to its slim-taper 60's neck profile and a chambered mahogany body that reduces the weight while enhancing resonance, making it outstandingly comfortable strapped on or seated. Includes case.

Comments about Gibson 2013 Les Paul Studio Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I rarely post a product review but I felt that I had to for this guitar. I am very picky when it comes to instruments. But I was impressed by this guitar right out of the box. It stock setup wasn't bad. It feels balanced, not too heavy, and plays great. The fretboard isn't your standard rosewood but I really like it. It's a little lighter colored than the board on my SG. The woodgrain shows through more than the SG which is nice. It doesn't effect the playability or tone. The quality of the guitar is better that my SG which cost me 2X over this LP. Great instrument!

Comments about Gibson 2013 Les Paul Studio Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

My Studio came in a high quality Gibson case with a beautiful, white, micro fiber lining. There aren't any visible blemishes, the frets feel great—no sharp edges and all the switches and knobs are solid. I got this guitar on sale new for 799 w/hardcase, which I could NOT pass up.

The Finish isn't as drab as the pictures make it out to be; it's semi-gloss, and the white lacquer w/ black embellishments present this guitar as a humble, serious workhorse.

This is the most expensive guitar I've owned, and unsurprisingly, this is the smoothest guitar I've played. The pickups are wonderful, super easy to get a good tone. I gave the truss rod less than a quarter turn adjustment to deal with the slight buzzing I got, which is just about gone until I start down tuning. I play a lot of Coheed/Pop Punk/Alternative/Post-hardcore songs and riffs, which this guitar nails easily.

I haven't had this guitar properly set up, so the action being a little too low isn't a con to me. It really doesn't affect the playing in Standard. The ONLY CON for this guitar: the nut is not cut correctly, so the G string especially will detune after less-than-moderate playing(instantly if bending), and the B & D strings do it slightly, not as bad though. When I get a chance, I will get this fixed and the guitar set up. All it takes is a little money.

For 799, an American made guitar with a hardcase is an absolute steal. I have fun playing this guitar, and I think anyone else who'd buy this guitar would have a blast too.

Comments about Gibson 2013 Les Paul Studio Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

This is the real deal. However, the axe being reviewed is actually a 2012 radiant red model. The guitar coming out of the box is without any obvious imperfection(s). Set-up is imminently playable. Intonation is spot on. Every fret, every string, every note - no problem. Perfect? For those with OCD and other attention to perfection, one may be able to find something. For those who want a fine instrument, the Studio is one to own. MF is also to be commended for their customer service from inquiry to delivery.

gorgeous finish, like the trans paint (wine red), comfortable to handle, didn't find it too heavy, pity I can't just click my strap locks into the stock buttons, but trivial issue. can't believe I got this for the crazy price, and I do mean crazy, bargain of a lifetime...

Comments about Gibson 2013 Les Paul Studio Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

An iconic instrument . . . with only two things they didn't get right:

        1. Out-of-the-box I had to have the guitar serviced. The truss rod had to be adjusted. There is still a sligh buzz on the thick strings at the first fret.

        2. Mine is an all-black Studio model with perfectly polished chrome hardware. Why on earth do they put the headstock lettering "Gibson" and "Les Paul Model" in gold? I've seen Gibsons with silver lettering; I cannot understand why they wouldn't notice or care about this!
