A rock icon in its original incarnation with automated tuners.

The 2013 SG Standard embodies all the tone, feel, and look of the original rendition of this legendary guitar, with features such as a slim ’60s profile neck with a smaller early ’60s headstock, the original early ’60s pickguard, dual ’57 Classic humbucking pickups, and Gibson’s innovative hardware, all wrapped into a design that remains one of the most versatile guitars available today. To top it off, the SG Standard displays classic looks in a choice of colors, all in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. This model comes with automated Min-ETune “robot” tuners.

Like the greatest SGs ever made, the SG Standard starts with a foundation of solid mahogany, a tonewood with a long tradition at Gibson. A solid mahogany body (Grade-A beneath the translucent finish options) is crafted in the distinctive, thin asymmetrical dual-cutaway style, with iconic pointed “horns” and beveled edges to enhance playing comfort.

A solid, Grade-A, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is glued into the body in Gibson’s time-tested tradition, and carved to a fast, slim ’60s profile that measures .800” at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. It is topped with a bound fingerboard made from genuine Grade-A rosewood with 22 medium-jumbo frets, and traditional trapezoid inlays. The smaller vintage-style headstock has the classic mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and holly inlays.

The SG Standard takes its firepower from a pair of ’57 Classic humbucking pickups, some of the most popular recreations of vintage PAF humbuckers available today. These great pickups use genuine Alnico II bar magnets and are wound with 42-AWG enamel-coated wire for the characteristic blend of warmth and creaminess that made original PAFs legendary. The traditional wiring complement of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way toggle selector switch allows a broad range of sonic variations.

To anchor it all down, Gibson USA loads in a tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, with a set of genuine TonePros vintage-style tuners, a hardware set that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning. Put it all together, and the SG Standard presents a great incarnation of the iconic original, bringing the look, feel, and sound to the hands of players of today.

Each guitar comes with case, owner’s manual and truss rod wrench.

    Min-ETune automated “robot” tuners
Min-ETune is a small compact battery powered tuning unit that sits on the back of the guitar — a mighty enhancement to an already great instrument. No need for screws, wiring or routing, in fact the system is hardly visible from the front of the guitar. You can still adjust the tuning pegs manually or turn on the Min-ETune to choose from 12 popular tunings or program 6 of your own.

    Always In Tune
A guitar with Min-ETune looks the same, feels the same, plays the same and rocks the same - it’s just always in tune. Adjust to other instruments' imperfect tuning with Reference Tuning and keep that harmony going. Perfect for home, studio and gigging: The internal lithium battery lasts for 80 to 100 tunings on just one charge. Rock longer with the fast and accurate Min-ETune, tuning your guitar in just three seconds and one strum.

    In Perfect Harmony
Digital tuners that emulate open tunings are available BUT because the Min-ETune physically turns the tuners, the system is always organic and natural. There’s no delay, no dampening and no dead sound — just the natural vibration of guitar strings in total harmony with the vibrations coming out of the amp producing ringing harmonics and powerful sustain.

    Rock Out
With the new Min-ETune equipped guitars all you have to do is PUSH the button, STRUM, get TUNED and ROCK out. Min-ETune is a huge boost to the live performer, the touring professional, the experienced enthusiast, the beginner and novice player alike.

Save time and money in the studio because the tuning system is so fast and accurate. And Min-ETune is a priceless tool for writing creatively with its instant access to the sounds your muse demands. Perfect for the professional – Min-ETune will have you rocking around the clock.

Travel light to your next gig or across the globe, just one guitar does the work of multiple guitars in different tunings – perfect for the enthusiast. Keep on rocking and experiment with a wide range of alternate tunings or program your own and save it forever with Min-ETune.

Spend less time learning to tune and more time learning to play the guitar. Perfect for the beginner – Min-ETune puts a variety of tunings at your fingertips. You are ready to rock? With Min-ETune you can even experiment with open tunings, something that usually takes years of practice.

More than just efficient, affordable, versatile, and powerful, Min-ETune is truly a creative tool that you can’t do without.

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Standard Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

First off, it is a new Gibson. This guitar met all my expectations regarding construction, finish, playability, tone. I have seen the China knock offs and one can really tell the difference between those and a Gibson. I was frustrated at first because it does not come with an owner's manuel for the mini e tuner. I called Gibson, and they emailed the user's manuel-27 pages including some that are just chapter dividers. A friend sent me a web site where a guy goes over how to use the mini e tuner in a way that explains it very easily. I only use about 5 or so other tunings other than regular tuning. I do play slide in open tunings and now I look forward to being able to bring just one guitar for my weekly blues jam, instead of 2-3 guitars in different tunings. I will use it tonight for the first time in public. I have had a couple of times where it just went nuts and tuned to who know what, but I was able to get it back on track and get it tuned correctly. I, if you have not guessed, am not real tech savy, so if I can figure this out anyone should. I also bought this on a great deal from MF with savings and free shipping.

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Standard Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

I bough this SG & then had immediate financial problems. Wish I would have waited a few days. Now I love this guitar but need to sell it. Gonna take the first nine hundred offer. It is like MINT new condition with stickers still on it, not even the tiniest blemish. The Minitune is the greatest thing ever invented.

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Standard Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

Finally a Vintage looking model to try the eTune robotic technology! And it works for me, no more hassles at retuning for different songs. Had a problem with one tuner which was easily fixed with Gibsons excellent customer service! Love it and highly recommend it.
