Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Classic Electric Guitar:

Only issue I had was whoever screwed in the strap post by the neck stripped the screw and the screw looked too small anyway for the weight it is supposed to hold. Musician's Friend resolved the issue quickly. A new guitar was not an option because I could not get the color I wanted so a pair of strap locks fixed it. Great customer service at MF.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Classic Electric Guitar:

Aside from a Les Paul looking as though it is missing a tone knob, this is a very fine yet modernized version of the original classic. MF's Private Reserve folks helped me pick a PERFECTLY bookmatched Heritage Cherry-Burst top and a Guitar with zero issues. I don't like many of Gibsons new "innovations", but found the 15Db boost to be great. Coil tapping, useless for my playing - but no law that says you have to use it. Pricey (like most Gibsons these days), but a very fine Les Paul.. and no regrets. Would have been GREAT if Gibson introduced the 15Db boost switch as a matching push/pull knob (aesthetics do matter).

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Classic Electric Guitar:

Ordered the guitar online from Musician's Friend. It arrived on time and in flawless condition. Replaced the strings, set the intonation, raised the action(it was extremely low), and loosened the truss rod 1/4 turn.

This thing is unbelievably solid and holds tuning excellent. No fret buzz even with relatively low action. I play mainly Metal (Children of Bodom, Devildriver, Judas Priest, Dokken, Trivium, Slipknot, Machine Head, Lamb of God and my own lousy songs that I make up). I was surprised that, even without using the boost switch, the Super 57 bridge pickup can more than handle this style of music.

The 15db boost switch is interesting. It is almost unnoticeable while playing on a high gain channel, however, on a clean channel with the coil splits engaged, it is very prominent. Also, of all my guitars, this Gibson has hands down the best clean sound. Most of my other guitars are USA made custom shop Jacksons(King V, Soloist, RR1) with either Seymour Duncan Full Shred or Black Winter pickups in the bridge position.

Im still amazed that this Gibson pulls off Death Metal as well as the Jacksons.

The one I recieved was the 2014 Ebony Les Paul Classic with the slim 60's neck.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Classic Electric Guitar:

This is my second exchange for this guitar due to color inaccuracy to the picture. Initially I ordered the seafoam green which looks mellow in the picture, but it showed up bright turquoise. Second time around I went with Heritage cherry thinking it'd be pretty neutral, and it showed up pretty bright red and yellow... Musicians Friend has been helpful with the exchanges, but it can be frustrating dragging these boxes into work for UPS pickup! I suppose you can go with black for a sure bet... I'm taking chances on the red wine...

All that being said, it's a beautiful guitar that feels good to play even for my small hands and does not feel as heavy as someone told me it would feel. Haven't had a chance to plug the sucker in yet but am so far confident that it will be a good fit and life investment.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Classic Electric Guitar:

This guitar is absolutely beautiful and has such smooth, creamy, clean sounds. Of course, it weighs around 9 pounds so be prepared to deal with some back issues, LOL. The selectable humbucking/single coil pickups are very cool. The 15db boost switch is OK, but I would personally rather they kept a separate tone control.

Great neck shape. Little rounder the thin tapper 60's shape. 57 calssics pup's are hard to beat for tone. Action was very low, with the straightest neck I've ever seen on any guitar. Could not find any fit or finnish flaws. The build quality is equal to my 2013 59 RI.

Awesome guitar! It's a 60's neck profile by the way! Split coils with boost!
And you do not loose the tone between coil to boost selections. Tone control has a wide pallet of frequencies. Seafoam green top is sweet, maple grain very visible and the lighter color mahogany back keeps it classy.
This is a classic! Would replace in a NY minute!
