I've had mine for about a week and I love it! It was ready to play right out of the box. The quality of the parts give it a full, rich sound that I have come to expect from Gibson. My only complaint is that, like most guitars I have played, the nut grooves are too tight (even with the factory-installed strings) which causes the G and B strings to lose their pitch very frequently. Make sure you order some nut lube along with this guitar, unless you're brave enough to file the grooves on your brand new rig.

I have one of these. Love the tone. Sounds great. Great pickups. Build quality, fit and finish and playability is good. The new Price Drop by MF makes this an ok value. Definitely an attractive package now. My guitar developed a spontaneous headstock crack that developed without dropping the guitar. Gibson tried to weasel out of the warranty and literally did everything they could to walk away from the problem. So make sure you register your purchase, keep your original receipt and be smart when you talk to Gibson customer service. They are friendly but their agenda is to deny your claim. The buzz about poor customer service by Gibson is not unfounded. Until the headstock cracked, I was happy and really enjoyed the guitar.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

First off i was well pleased with how fast shipping was. Second i am very pleased as the way it sounds, how low the frets are, how easy it is to play, and just how beautiful it is. However i have a few problems. As someone put in their review, the fret board was a little dry, but nothing worth really complaining about; but i do have a little concern (and it's probably just me) but the volume of the guitar doesn't seem to be as loud as my Gibson Les Paul double cutaway with two p90s on it (again this really isn't a big negative but worth a notice. Love this guitar and plan on keeping it as long as I can.
Oh and one more thing that I was pleased with; after I received my guitar I recorded a thank you email from this company. Thank you for that by the way.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

This guitar has by far the worst paint job out of any guitar I own. Even over some of my really cheap squier project guitars. There is no grain fill so i cant even wet sand it to make it look smooth. Right out of the box it looks terrible. Like someone sprayed this in their garage. Its so bad i actually had to do research to make sure this thing wasn't a knock off. I didn't expect the hollowed out body when I got it either. It adds nothing to the sound and takes away from the les paul feel. I own 16 guitars and this is the least played out of all of them. I should have sent it back when I had the chance I just thought maybe it would grow on me. The neck pickup sounds really good clean. Other than that there are no redeeming qualities to this guitar.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I've always lusted after a Gibson Les Paul, but was never able to afford one. I was wary of the studio, as I assumed it would be a "budget" model with shoddier electronics and tonewood. However, the minute I plugged this in to my AC30 I was blown away. After replacing my MXR Prime Distortion with a Crowther Hotcake, this guitar REALLY sings when driven. It sounds as good as my stepdad's '83 LP Custom. These 490 Pickups are the ticket. Only downside is that the wood on the neck was dry as a bone when I got it. Stuck a humidifier in the gigbag and played it 'til my hands got sweaty, and that solved the problem. Tapped out, the pickups don't really sound single coil like; they just sound thinner, so I don't really use it.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

Out of the box it was a beautiful instrument unfortunately I did not buy it to hang on the wall to just look at it, then I picked it up plugged it in and played it for 30 minutes put it back in the box and sent it back. The frets buzzed, when you would go to bend a note it felt like the string was grinding against sandpaper, the intonation was bad, it would not stay in tune and the pickups did not sound good at all. Granted this was the "budget" Les Paul and the adage "you get what you pay for" really rings true with this puppy. I brought an Ibanez guitar that was half the price of this and played and sounded 10 times better right out of the box which is kind of sad that you have to buy something form across the pond to get a quality playing and sounding instrument. Good luck trying to get your money back in a timely manner they have had it back for more than a week and still no refund.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

I lost my ES-335 (not a good story so I'll leave it out) and won't be able to afford a new one for a while. I grew up on guitars with upper fret access and never liked les pauls on principle but the price was right and I needed a guitar that could take a beating at gigs and wasn't so expensive that I wouldn't take it out of the house. This les paul is perfect! I'm already used to the single cutaway and I've only had it for a week and the tone and sustain are comparable to my '67 SG Custom and my old 335. Great buy, affordable, tough, sweet tone for blues and rock and jazz. I'm already writing for our next album on this thing because it INSPIRES!

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

Mine arrived undamaged 3 days ago inside its gig bag & double boxed. I checked it over & found no physical flaws. The honeyburst looks good - the finish does have more of a satin look. The set up was good with nice action & no fret buzz. It plays easily and I like the sound of the 490 pickups both clean & distorted. The coil tap feature works fine & provides more tonal options.
The pickup surrounds & pick guard color is different & may not appeal to everyone. I ordered the musician's gear case along with the guitar (arrived at same time but not packed together). Sometimes a gig bag is merely a dust cover, but this one seems sturdy & is well padded. If you are not transporting you Les Paul frequently the included bag will probably be fine protection. I have wanted a Les Paul for 30 years and am very pleased with this one.

Comments about Gibson 2014 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

Easily one of my favorite Les Pauls in the range -- for a Gibson guitar this one is practically "affordable". The guitar feels great, it truly yells "value"! With many fantastic features, I wouldn't say this guitar is that far away from my Les Paul Standard. Equipped with the "Modern classic" 490R/490T pickups (Which I think are fantastically voiced for this guitar), this guitar really sings, whether you're play some clean blues, or more gain filled tones. The guitar is extremely versatile, for it has coil splitting enabled, giving you a brighter tone; tones with the hint of a single-coil. ,y only issue is that there was this one little white spot on the guitar, it wasn't really visible, but I, very picky with finishes. Of course, that spot is now gone after some cleaning. I hope my review helped anyone looking for a more affordable, versatile Gibson Les Paul. I think with a guitar like this you can't really go wrong.
