I purchased this on a stupid deal of the day. I was excited to get an American Gibson at the price offered until it arrived. My guitar had two stress cracks at the nut originating under the fret board moving downwards towards the body. There was also a gouge in the headstock that was painted over at the factory. The bridge and tailpiece were set up to near the highest point possible putting the string height close to a 1/2 inch above the fret board. This was being sold as a burst but the finish was solid brown. The matte finished nickle bridge hardware did not go well with the body color. I did do a set up and gave it a go before packing it up and sending it back (I am not keeping a "new" guitar that has neck cracks). The pickups on this were amazing. Great job there by Gibson making a very nice modern sounding pickup. The 61 zebra give very good range clarity without the typical muddy midrange sound of some of the PAF style pickups out there. The auto tune system worked flawlessly and was kinda cool to play with. The down side was it was a bit difficult to do manual tunings with it without feeling like you were going to break it. It had an decent feel and playability to it but not a upper price feel and playability. The frets were not dressed and had sharp points all over the board. If I played this guitar blindfolded and asked about the price, I would honestly say mid starter prices. I understand the costs involved in USA manufacturing but to offer something in todays market at this price point, the end product needs to be much better. Thanks for trying Gibson.

Comments about Gibson 2014 LPM Electric Guitar:

This was a Deal of the Day special, which I understand is normally used to remove extra inventory of items that just didn't click. I wasn't expecting superb, but this was the worst guitar I ever attempted to play. The finish was rough, and not consistent. The frets were not well set or finished and I couldn't even attempt to play the thing because the E-tune tuners simply didn't work. The low E string could not be secured in the post and the tuner completely unwound the string. No matter haw many attempts were tried, the unit would not stay in tune. Terrible product and not being able to manually adjust tuners is idiotic. It is very clear that Gibson is living off its name only, the quality and craftsmanship are just not there.

Comments about Gibson 2014 LPM Electric Guitar:

all of the gibson guitars on the lower cost levels are apparently just slapped together with very little concern about overall quality control especially on the frets, tuners, strings, and wood finishing which is terrible. With just a little more effort these problems could be easily corrected. The cheapest Epi plays, and certainly looks better than the cheap Gibsons' which are 3 to 4 times more than a EPI. A Gibson BRAND does not necessarily mean a quality product. That being said I plan on updating the guitar in order to make it a better product. Musicians friends has been great and they bare no fault in any way,

Comments about Gibson 2014 LPM Electric Guitar:

Got the first one and the robotuner was crapola outta the box. Sent it back and got a new one hassle-free. Works great, the p-ups are excellent and snarl like a wildcat! Playability and stuff are excellent also. I've been playing for over 44 years, and have had various axes, from a 1971 Les Paul Deluxe to a 1995 Sunburst Strat, Fender Duo-Sonic, Danelectro, etc. and will hold this one up to all of them. Great axe for the bux! Robotuner works well, not why I bought this but not a hinderence either! I play primarily blues, southern rock, classic rock, etc. both standard and bottleneck slide in several tunings as well as DADGAD.

Comments about Gibson 2014 LPM Electric Guitar:

I bought this fully intending to change everything on it. I found one with a nice birdseye top. I put in a B@@@@@z full contact bridge, S@@h L@@@r pickups and a 1950's wire harness and jack, plus switch, chrome strings, kind of heavy. I left the auto tuners alone, saves time. I may put on a bone nut to exploit the wider neck in the future. Finished, for now, I like it. Anything from Jazz, blues, to classic rock, but it was built with that goal. I have about 1400.00 in it, but it is now the go to. Out of the box? It was okay, definitely not like the real deal, which I do have. I would never take these liberties with a real Les Paul. This is a great value, I now have a fantastic guitar with everything I want on it for a reasonable price. I cannot complain. I was looking for a good building block. Finished, it is very presentable, looks great, feels like the real deal, sounds great, but this is far from what I started with. But, 1400.00 can't touch a Les Paul, so I consider this to be a bargain.

Comments about Gibson 2014 LPM Electric Guitar:

I picked this up as a Stupid Deal of the Day and am not totally disappointed. Make no mistake: This is a cheap Gibson. They skimped on the set-up, especially with the frets that catch my fingers in too many places. With the action set high, playing it was a bit of a chore straight out of the box. Expect to make your own adjustments if you order this.

Smooth and articulate, the pickups sound great through my Vox. They're probably the high point to the whole shebang. Taking a little to get used to, the Min-ETune system functions well as a lazy correction to Gibson's notoriously shoddy stock tuners. Expect the typical tuning stability for the brand. At least the electronics are solid in my guitar.

As stated, the frets are harsh. They feel like a cheap Cort or similar budget-ranged company and slow down my playing. For a Gibson, there's no excuse, though their quality control in general has been spinning into the toilet as of the last few years.

If you're starving for the Gibson brand, go for it. If you're not that much of a sucker and want something superior for the price, go for an Epiphone LP Custom and switch out the pickups.
