    OVERVIEW

A new design packed with Gibson archtop tradition.

The ES-275 revels in Gibson's long tradition of hollowbody archtop electrics to bring a fresh new model to the lineup. In addition to its rounded L-5-inspired cutaway and medium-depth body, this guitar includes a tubeless Historic truss rod, rolled fingerboard binding, ABR-1 bridge with titanium saddles, a genuine bone nut, trapeze tailpiece, PAF-inspired MHS humbuckers, and classy ES-345-style appointments.

Compared to the L-5 CES, the width and length of the ES-275 have been reduced about 10% and the depth by about 40%. The result still has the full, shapely appeal of the classic Gibson jazz guitars, but in a size that’s more comfortable to put your arms around. The smaller body also gives easier access to the additional 2 frets.

The pots are high quality 500K CTS pots with a .015 mfd for the neck pickup, which doesn’t cut as much of the treble response and makes the sound warm and vocal instead of muddy. Includes hardshell case.

Fully hollow archtop: The ES-275 is inspired by the L-5 shape, yet is more compact, with a 2-inch depth to its fully acoustic body
Elegant inlays: Pearl split-parallelogram inlays are another hallmark of this great archtop
Bone nut: A genuine bone nut is hard wearing, while enhancing acoustic resonance and sustain
Rolled fingerboard binding: By "rolling" or "breaking" the binding at the fingerboard edge you experience a softer playing feel
Historic truss rod: The historic truss rod has no tube, a proven known to enhance the guitar's resonance and sustain
MHS pickups: The best PAF reproductions yet, the MHS humbuckers present superb sonic depth with outstanding character and clarity
Titanium bridge saddles: Adding titanium saddles to a traditional "floating" ABR-1 Tune-o-matic bridge gives extra ring and clarity to the tone
High-gloss nitro finish: A hand-sprayed high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish brings out the true beauty of the ES-275

Comments about Gibson 2016 ES-275 Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

The body may be inspired from the classic L-5 and the neck from the timeless Les Paul but it is neither of those nor is it meant to be. As soon as you start playing the smaller, thinner, fully hollowbody and a very accessible 22 fret neck, you can immediately feel and hear something brand new. The jazz tones can't fully imitate that "Wes Montgomery" sound you get from a full size L-5 or even a ES-175 but the new MHS humbuckers give this guitar it's own distinctive ring and that is fine with me. This guitar is so comfortable to play, so versatile in the voices it produces, I can play it for hours. The craftsmanship is impeccable but that is what you would expect from Gibson Memphis. I didn't opt for the fancier figured version.....I liked the simpler cherry finish, chrome hardware and ES-345 inlays and it really is a beautiful instrument. Hats off to the folks at Gibson for listening to what players want and delivering it to us!!
