OVERVIEW

Return of a radical rocker.

Heavy Metal players are drawn to the Flying V, and the 2016 Flying V Pro T has everything, including renowned tone, to make it a bestseller. Its solid mahogany body is sprayed with a nitrocellulose finish that lets each sonic wave vibrate fully. The unique body design results in unmatched neck access to the upper register.

Gibson's popular SlimTaper neck profile answers your need for speed and makes shredding easier and faster. A thicker one-piece rosewood fretboard adds warmth and sustain. The addition of a self-lubricating Graph Tech nut also helps with sustain while returning strings to pitch no matter how far you bend them. Electronics feature a '57 Classic and BurstBucker 3 hum bucker to add more fuel to the fire in your leads and more gnarly crunch when you're working the rhythm sections.

The 2016 Flying V Pro T has a Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece and comes complete with snug-fitting gig bag. Join the roster of pro metal players who know what it takes to get the job done.

I have always wanted a Gibson Flying V. it just seemed too expensive. I have played some my friends and band mates had, but they never really did it for me. For some reason, when I saw the picture of this guitar, I just had to have it...and I am not at all disappointed. It is amazing! I bought the wine red model and it's simply beautiful. The grain is subtle behind the paint job but noticeable. The feel is sublime. The weight is perfectly balanced.
I partly bought this guitar because it has the same pickups as another I have..a Gibson SG voodoo model I picked up used years ago. Until now, that was my go-to guitar. These pups are hot as hell and have awesome tone and a throaty voicing. This thing roars! Harmonics are kicking, as well.
Perfect set-up out of the box. Action was just the way I love it. Also came with the same .10 gauge D'Addario strings I use. Bonus!
This is the most expensive guitar I have ever owned, but it is more than worth it. Obviously, that's my opinion, but cannot get over how much I love it. Also love the knob set-up and lack of pick guard, as opposed to the other Gibson V models. Huzzah to both Gibson and Musician's Friend. I probably would not have bought it if they didn't offer the no-interested deal with their card...

I always wanted a Flying V. I've had many guitars in 35 yrs (over 50), but never got a real V. This is a great looking iconic rock machine. It's just plain fun. For the price, it's just that.. fun. It does have pretty good tone and the pickups are fairly clear and bright enough. I play clean usually, so I can't comment on distortion and "shredding" value of it. The neck profile is described as slim taper, but there really is no taper.. It's thin all the way up. Not too thin. Thinner than a US strat or tele. Fretboard is 12 " radius and feels quite flat. To listen to the guitar acoustically, I found it to have a decent resonance through the neck and body. It has a nice 'rake' across the strings. I did not have to set it up or change the strings initially. I did not like the fact that the sides and back are left with a lack lustre satin/dull black finish. The front is glossy. Mine had a small nick on the binding on the lower inside of the V. Small hairline scratches around controls and jack. Strange! But, I refinish guitars so I can take care of that. Just a surprise... (sorta). No hardshell case. Only a cheap padded gig bag. Not very much stuffing in the box, either. :/ That was a concern of mine. The outside box was pierced front and back, but thankfully the inside box was fine. The guitar has a 'toylike' feel about it however and I think people should be aware of that before investing. Understand what you're getting for the price. :) I WILL play it tho..and often. It is fun! Just not a high end Gibson. Don't expect the quality of a '68 Re-issue with pick guard. Of course, it is not comfortable or practiical to SIT and play. You will want to use a strap. It feels great with a strap and it's not particularly heavy at all. It's not neck heavy, either. Nice balance of body to neck. The pickups sound bright and clear and pinch squeals are lovely. Frets feel good and smooth. NON undercut frets. Stays in tune. It's cool.

Comments about Gibson 2016 Flying V Pro T Electric Guitar:

The Flying V hasn't been issued in any standard configuration other than the shape for awhile.
Depending on the year you will have different pick-up combinations; 496R/500T; '57 Classic N & B; or '57 Classic and BurstBucker 3, lioke in this case. The feel of the neck has changed,it's width and the type of fret board wood has changed, ebony, rosewood, Granadillo.
For a long period the standard V was priced the same, then it went up, down and back up.
Most came with a hard case, others like this Gibson 2016 Flying V Pro Electric Guitar comes with a soft gig bag.
Gibson made special editions, one was made for guitar center where the body was 2/3rds it's regular size. So someone may have one from a specific year and another from a different year and they're completely different feeling and sounding guitars.

Comments about Gibson 2016 Flying V Pro T Electric Guitar:

I had wanted a flying V since I learn to play by emulating Michael Schenker of UFO fame back in the early 80's. Imagine my disappointment after ordering my 2016 Ebony Gibson Flying V Pro T from a reputable dealer online, the guitar is not good enough to use in a live scenario. It won't stay in tune for the duration of one song, the nut is too high as when pressing on the first 3 or 4 frets on the G, B and A, the guitar plays sharp. when bending, the strings slip in the nut with an audible ping and do not return to the correct tuning. I have been in contact with Gibson Europe over this and to be fair, their reaction thus far has been exemplary. They have arranged a Gibson licensed UK based luthier to pick up the guitar, and that is where we are at, at this moment in time. However, what I am trying to relay here is, DO NOT BUY ONLINE, try it in the store and make sure you are happy before purchase. To be perfectly honest, I am astounded that Gibson let such a poor quality instrument passed their QA system.

A little misrepresentation with the "all" gloss finish. Satin back and sides. Not a fan of a gig bag either. But it is a sweet playing, good looking, killer v. I actually grew to like the feel of the satin, flat finish on the neck.

I simply love this 2016 Gibson Flying V Pro! The white/cream body/neck binding and no pickguard are an attraction along with the 3 in a row knob layout. The nitro finish allows better tone and the neck is smooth as silk! Came set up very well. I own 6 V's and this is my favorite!

Comments about Gibson 2016 Flying V Pro T Electric Guitar:

I really like this guitar, it plays great and sounds great. I like the push-pull pots that give you a lot of different tonal options. The only complaint that I have is that it appears the guitar was built by an inexperienced luthier. There are a few finish flaws visible upon very close inspection by a perfectionist like me. But it is a killer guitar other than a few details. I love it, and every time I jam it, I am left grinning like a mule eating sawbriars. It screams like a gutshot comanchee!!!!

I can't keep my hands off it. I even added chrome covers so it would look cool and it does. I got a great deal on the condition 1. It was awesome. I like how the back of it doesn't have gloss only the front so you can slide down the neck with ease. I looked at these for awhile and all of them have a glossy back neck which I hate. On a les paul, the gloss neck is ok because of it's cool shape and most come with that. This guitar is versatile and gives you the les paul punch and the bluesy start all in one. BUY IT! You won't be sorry, i'm not.
