OVERVIEW

This upgraded "Workhorse" is built to be easier to play with enhanced finish and the addition of L.R. Baggs pickup.

The J-45 is Gibson's best-selling acoustic of all time. Nicknamed œThe Workhorse and first introduced in 1942, this iconic acoustic has become the cornerstone of its round-shoulder, dreadnought line. World-renowned for its full, balanced expression, warm bass and excellent projection, the 2016 J-45 has been refined to carry this legacy to new heights.

Other features on this upgraded version include a 2016 engraved truss rod cover, improved feel thanks to the softened fingerboard edge which makes it a more comfortable fit in the contour your hand, L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup for ultimate plug-and-play ease, an enhanced finish thanks to finer grit sandpaper and polishing compounds used on its high gloss finish, and smoother hand rubbed and oiled fingerboard and bridges which will make them last longer and maximizes the wood's natural vibrancy.

Includes hardshell case.

Comments about Gibson 2016 J-45 Standard Slope Shoulder Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The only complaint I have is the fact I ordered a 2016 which is supposed to have the engraved truss rod cover. It was just straight black. No year engraved on it. It is a 2016 serial number though. Also engraved on the back of the neck near the serial number it has 2017. Nothing wrong with the guitar though. It's beautiful, stays in tune, neck feels great, setup was okay out of the box. Shipping was prompt and guitar was double boxed.

Comments about Gibson 2016 J-45 Standard Slope Shoulder Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have to admit that I've had some choice words for Gibson over the last several years but it seems they are really getting back to the great company they were in the past. My J 45 is a great acoustic. It accentuates the mid and treble frequencies and isn't as bass heavy as a D 28 or other Dreadnoughts. I've found that phosphor bronze strings really even out the tone. Construction and finish are all top notch.

Comments about Gibson 2016 J-45 Standard Slope Shoulder Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Ever since I started playing guitar, I've always had my eyes on the J45, and had my heart set on buying one someday. Fifteen years, three jobs, and twenty-six hundred bones later, I finally bought one. Smooth and warm tone, slick playability, simple and elegant finish, and the fact that it plugs in and can be amplified just adds to the awesomeness of this guitar. The hard case that it comes with is pretty cool too, and I think it'll hold up to what it's designed to do. I will admit, that it is a little on the high end, but it is definitely worth everything you'll spend. I know I'm going to enjoy this guitar for years to come.
