Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Standard HP Electric Guitar:

This is the guitar I've been waiting for from Gibson for decades with the DIP switch select wiring. It's a dream com true - providing the full array of options from split and tap options for the neck and bridge, as well as a treble bleed and transient suppression. Finally, the electronic circuit configuration comes with the newly tweaked BurstBucker Rhythm Pro in the neck and BurstBucker Lead Pro Plus in the bridge. I see this as an improvement over the 2010 custom shop model with the BurstBuckers 2 and 3, because as much as I love the growl of the early BurstBuckers in the bridge position, the EQ high-end reactance isn't always the best match for the neck position. These pups are more "fitted" for the bridge and neck. The quad AAAA choice flamed maple top is eye-popping. The G-Force is a love or hate thing for some players, but for some eclectic gigging musicians in cover bands called upon to switch between multiple genres, the preset tuner option alleviates the toting 4 guitars to a gigs. Still, it's an easy mod to swap out if you like everything else but the tuner... hardly a deal breaker. This is an exceptional move in the right direction for the LP Standard Series.

2017 Auto Tune on the Les Paul Standard HP

    By Bob

    from Nashville, TN

    Pros

    • The auto tune is highly accurate, fast and easy.

    Cons

    • High Performance label badge difficult to read.

Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Standard HP Electric Guitar:

I've read people's complaints about the auto tune. Some of them I suspect are just repeating what they may have heard. My 2017 HP has auto tune and I think it's wonderful. It's fast and accurate and I actually put my guitar out of tune just to watch the knobs turn by themselves and put my guitar back in perfect tune. The HP neck is a soloist's dream and second to none.

Comments about Gibson 2017 Les Paul Standard HP Electric Guitar:

I went on the factory tour with Gibson in Memphis. That was only a few pesos. Then I made the mistake of entering the store...So a couple thousand pesos later I walked out of there with a 2016 model in gold top. The guy in the store marked it down 20%, so I pretty much stole it from them. Although it's a 2016, there were just a few small cosmetic changes to the 2017s, such as removal of the puck around the switch, and chrome knobs on the pots. Anyway, this guitar is my dream guitar that I never knew existed. It is so well put together that I find it difficult to believe it was made by the hands of man. I love the G Force. I love that I can retune in a matter of seconds. And, it tunes the guitar better than I ever tuned any guitar over a 30 year period! I love the fast action fret board. I love the growl of the pups for metal. I love the quality feel of the volume and tone controls - even the plastic knobs are quality items. I love the titanium nut. I love the gold top even though I thought I would hate it. I love the balance and weight. I love the air stream case. Out of the box, I did have to raise the action a little as there was fret buzz, but no biggie. For me, this is the best guitar I will ever need or own.
