Retains all the distinctive ingredients that make this unique breed of Gibson so special.

The 20th Anniversary Nighthawk Standard retains all the distinctive ingredients that make this unique breed of Gibson so special, including the 25-½” scale length for firm lows and chiming highs, the comfortable body contours, through-body stringing and unique Nighthawk bridge, and the superb versatility of a trio of different yet complementary pickups, with push-pull coil splitting for the bridge pickup. A high-gloss nitrocellulose finish in your choice of Antique Natural or Fireburst over a gorgeous figured Grade-AAA maple top, deluxe split parallelogram fingerboard inlays, gold-hardware, and a truss-rod cover hot-stamped in gold with “Nighthawk 20th Anniversary” all make this an extra special addition to the proud line.

    Body and Neck
The 20th Anniversary Nighthawk Standard’s body follows the Nighthawk’s stylized take on Gibson’s legendary Les Paul, with a scaled-down body with deeper cutaway, and ribcage contour for enhanced playing comfort. Its top is made from figured Grade-AAA maple, and its back is solid mahogany. A solid, quarter-sawn mahogany neck with a 25-½” scale length is glued into the body and carved in a comfortably rounded profile that measures .818” at the 1st fret and .963” at the 12th. The guitar has a bound fingerboard made from solid Grade-A rosewood, inlaid with split parallelogram position markers. A Corian™ nut cut on Gibson’s computer-controlled PLEK helps to ensure optimum sustain and precise intonation.

    Pickups and Electronics
Much of the 20th Anniversary Nighthawk Standard’s unparalleled versatility is found in its trio of different yet complementary pickups. The Nighthawk Mini-Humbucker in the neck position offers a rich, throaty growl, but with plenty of definition; an NSX Nighthawk Single-Coil in the middle offers both snappy funk tones and thumping midrange; and the Nighthawk Lead Humbucker in the bridge position yields tones from mammoth crunch to articulate, singing lead sounds. Just pop up the tone control’s push-pull switch to tap brighter single-coil sounds, and blend myriad combinations of these with the five-way switch. Master tone and volume controls make on-the-fly adjustments a breeze.

    Hardware and Plastics
Through-body stringing and a rock-solid Nighthawk bridge lend superb resonance and massive sustain to this high-concept guitar. The bridge, strap buttons, and vintage-style “Gibson Deluxe” tuners are all gold-plated, as are the pickup’s mounting rings and the neck pickup cover. Amber “top-hat” knobs lend an air of Gibson tradition, and the guitar wears no pickguard to obscure the beauty of its highly figured top.

    Cases and Coverage
All guitars come protected in a black Gibson hardshell case, and include a Gibson owner’s manual and adjustment literature.

Comments about Gibson 20th Anniversary Nighthawk Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for about 2 months now. My original review was very positive, but I had not had the guitar very long. So, the word is this is a great guitar. Sounds great, plays great, feels great. For me, a regular part-time working musician, it is perfect. Got humbucking sounds and a single coil voice and a lot in between. It takes FX beautifully. Craftsmanship is A+, finish is really outstanding. I play it through both tube (Fender) and SS (Tech 21) amps and the sound is really fine!....Price is right, and its worth much more than you will pay. I like oddball guitars (I have a LP doublecut), but they need to provide first-rate sound and looks. This guitar and my doublecut are at the top of my play list these days. My strat and LP stnd are feeling bad!

Comments about Gibson 20th Anniversary Nighthawk Electric Guitar:

I have been looking at these gtrs for years and just never pulled the trigger...well i have had it for 3 days and I am feeling very good about it. The size, weight, finish and sound are all very good. The looks are killer (antique natural). I am a longtime player and am an active musician and I really like the feel of this guitar. The long scale length gives it a unique and great vibe. The PUP selections and coil-split are very useful; especially if you only can lug one ax and don't have a tech handing you your guitars during a gig!! I will say the pickup selector and coil splitting setup was a bit of a mystery..but I did figure it out and you can find the diagram here: http://images.gibson.com.s3.amazonaws.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Designer/Epiphone/Nighthawk-Custom-Reissue/Features-Images/Pickup-Selection-Modes.jpg

Anyway, I do like this guitar...but I am just getting to know it. I would say my first response is that I feel very connected to the sound, the feel and playability. I don't recall felling this strongly about the last 2 gtrs I bought, though they are first-rate (LP and Strat) and I have kept and play both them. I will report back...but right now it is all systems go!
