Gibson Custom

As close to an original '58 as you can get.

The 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plain Top VOS guitar begins with a solid mahogany back and carved plain maple top. The one-piece mahogany neck is topped with a gorgeous rosewood fretboard that's adorned with acrylic trapezoid inlays with shape and color true to the original. Early '50s rounded neck profile delivers the vintage feel players love. BurstBucker 1 and 2 pickups deliver famous vintage Les Paul tone.

In an effort to jump start the steadily declining sales of the Les Paul model, Gibson abandoned the familiar gold finish and used a translucent, cherry sunburst finish which showed off the figured maple tops that were often used on Les Pauls. The renamed Les Paul Standard made its debut in 1958.

Vintage Original Spec series instruments receive a special nitro-cellulose finish treatment yielding the patina of a gently-aged vintage guitar while handcrafting enhances comfort and playability. Each VOS model has a solid mahogany back; historically accurate long-neck tenon for strength and sustain; and period-correct neck profile, hardware, and electronics.

Okay, I have been an avid fan of the Epiphone Les Paul. Always thought they were phenomenally crafted at a good price. Still feel the same about them, however, after playing the real deal, at least this model, I can honestly see, feel, hear an enormous difference in sound and quality. The craftsmanship is unmatched..playability is unreal.. I think I got lucky and found one that really fit and played to my ultimate liking...they are truly the creme de la creme of guitars... and worth the extra if you can pull it off... at least for me.

What sets this apart from the Epiphone model is higher quality electronics. Definitely can hear the difference. Other than that pretty much the same standard les paul features.

Top quality instrument. You can tell just by playing it. Compare it to other Les Paul's and you can definitely feel and hear the difference.

Okay, this is a little hard to rate. How much of an investment are you willing or can you make. It was absolutely worth the extra for me.

This is my 3rd Les Paul and it is different than the others, and unique in its own way. I love the way it sounds and feels. Its a little lighter than my fretless wonder custom. I bought it to be a player as the other Les Paul has become to precious to me to leave the house. It is just a great guitar - I really don't know any other way to say it. I'm still bonding with it, I'm sure we will become old friends real soon. Good luck and Buy one.

I don't own this guitar, but I do play it at my local guitar center.  Let me tell you, this guitar is probably one of if not the best guitar gibson has ever made. When you plug it into a Marshall plexi, it sounds amazing with the deep end and the tick and beefy notes it plays.

This is a great guitar. The sound and features is just absolutely great. It have a classic, thick 50's neck, which give the guitar a very fat and nice sound. The only negative thing to mention is that sometimes it goes very quickly out of tune.

The Gibson Les Paul 1958 VOS is the best guitar I've ever owned. Every single note, that is played on this great instrument, sounds absolute powerful and great. The playability is great (In my opinion) because I love the thick, round neck- the guitar feels fantastic. One of the things I love about this guitar, is the difference between the two humbucker... when you select the pickups with the toggle switch, it's not a huge sound step... it dosn't sound like a complete diffrent guitar. It's the perfect guitar for Blues and Rock till Hard Rock - greetings from Germany and sorry for my simpel english.
