Humbucker, single-coil, and acoustic tones along with Floyd Rose trem, highlight this progressive rock guitar.
Created through extensive work with Alex, this new model incorporates the Graphtech Ghost-equipped Floyd Rose licensed tremolo and newly designed output circuitry that offers unprecedented signal routing (via "Regular" output jack and/or "Life-O-Sound" output jack) and tonal shaping flexibility (via push/pull pots) that make full use of the guitar's complete pickup arsenal consisting of piezo and 496R ceramic-magnet neck humbucker and 498T Alnico V bridge humbucker.
To give the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess the best possible foundation, Gibson Custom works with premium woods that are selected for their sublime look as well as their superior resonant qualities. A quarter-sawn mahogany neck is joined to the body with a glued-in long-tenon joint, and topped with a traditional rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and acrylic trapezoid inlays, just the way it's been done since 1952. Kluson-style tuners with pearloid keystone buttons add to the vintage vibe at the headstock end, but down south the electronics and hardware take this guitar into another millennium.
In addition to its traditional Les Paul tonewoods, the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess carries two high-output humbucking pickups with series/parallel wiring options via its push-pull volume controls series/parallel options on its push-pull volume controls, and a Floyd Rose licensed unit that not only provides the world's most efficient vibrato system, but is also loaded with GraphTech Ghost piezo bridge saddles. Access traditional Gibson magnetic humbucker tones, mix it up with fat and funky series/parallel options, tap the Ghost's realistic acoustic tones, or blend acoustic and magnetic voices-the sky's the limit from this sonic chameleon, whose sound-shifting depths are virtually limitless. What's more, you can route it all through a traditional mono jack (labeled "Regular") using a single guitar cable, or use two cables to split your sonic trickery off into separate output paths using the "Regular" and the "Life-O-Sound" output jacks together. All this, and the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess still presents that timeless Les Paul look that has remained a classic for more than 50 years.
Since the mid-1970s, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson has personified the consummate rock innovator--a sonic adventurer capable of producing mind-blowing power chords and dizzying arpeggios alike, ultimately sculpting them into huge, rich melodies and ingenious arrangements.

Comments about Gibson Custom 2011 Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess Limited Run Electric Guitar:
Sounds awesome. Each pickup is a world of tone by itself. The piezo piece is outstanding. You get funny looks from the crowd (and bandmates) as you strum acoustic parts. Really!
It is, amazingly, much lighter than my faithful LP standard but sounds thicker unplugged (the ultimate test for an electric guitar).
The axcess cut is perfectly done, you can shred all the way to D and bend the livin' heck out of it with out getting hurt. The graphtech trem works like a charm. Always in tune.
If you are a working guitarist, and care about your tone: Save the clams, get it!!
This is a do-it-all guitar. A dream come true for the giggin' musician. You can get any tone imaginable off this wonder guitar.
Doesn't get much better. The finish is flawless. Every detail is perfect. Hard to beleive until you have it in your hands.
It's a hefty price, but it's worth a collection of guitars. Old musicians like myself know that thru time you end up shedding a ton of money getting gear. With this beauty you get one guitar that can do it all, and looks perfect.
