A signature model, signed by Alex himself.
In celebration of Rush's 40th Anniversary, Gibson Custom presents the Limited Edition Alex Lifeson R40 Les Paul Axcess, offered in a run of 50 guitars with a 7A Quilt Maple top, hand-signed and played by Alex Lifeson in a lush Ruby Red R40 finish. It also features a Limited Edition "Starman" R40 die-caste medallion covering the rhythm/treble switch access cavity.
Created through extensive work with Alex Lifeson himself, the Gibson Custom Signed Alex Lifeson 40th Anniversary Les Paul Axcess Quilt similarly redefines the boundaries of the classic Les Paul: packed in a single remarkable instrument, this guitar carries all of the traditional tones that have made the Les Paul legendary, along with unprecedented levels of sonic and performance versatility.
In addition to its traditional Les Paul tonewoods, the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess carries two high-output humbucking pickups with series/parallel wiring options via its push-pull volume controls, and a Floyd Rose licensed unit that not only provides the world's most efficient vibrato system, but is also loaded with Graph Tech Ghost piezo bridge saddles.
Access traditional Gibson magnetic humbucker tones, mix it up with fat and funky series/parallel options, tap the Ghost's realistic acoustic tones, or blend acoustic and magnetic voices - the sky's the limit from this sonic chameleon whose sound-shifting depths are virtually limitless. What' more, you can route it all through a traditional mono jack (labeled "Regular") using a single guitar cable, or use two cables to split your sonic trickery off into separate output paths using the "Regular" and the "Life-O-Sound" output jacks together.
All this, and the Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess still presents that timeless Les Paul look that has remained a classic for more than 50 years. Hardshell case included.

Comments about Gibson Custom Alex Lifeson 40th Anniversary R40 Signed Les Paul Axcess Quilt:
This guitar is singly the most beautiful electric guitar I have ever laid eyes upon. I own a nice collection of higher end guitars, namely a custom 24 black smoked burst curly maple with abalone bird inlays with abalone PRS logo inlay on the head stock and a custom 22 PRS violin brown curly maple top, two fender stratocasters, one that is a metallic tangerine orange (I have never seen this before anywhere), a telecaster that is a very rare translucent teal green-blue, a custom black les paul with gold hardware, 2 alex lifeson les paul axcess guitars, one viceroy brown and one crimson, a white ES 355 Gibson Alex Lifeson model, and a bunch of others---The top of this Ruby 7A quilted maple top Gibson Les Paul literally looks alive---like it is moving. It it beautiful beyond words. It is easy to see why Alex endorsed this particular model and finish for the 40th anniversary and potentially last big tour of his band, Rush---it is as classy and incredible as he is as an artist and it truly is befitting to leave such a prized instrument as a legacy to other players/collectors. It plays like a dream; the piezo pickup makes for a beautiful counterbalance in stereo to the other channel which I love to add distortion and an echo. The fullness achievable for recording/performance is something you can do alone, without a second player. No wonder Alex can sound like a band unto himself.
The only complaint, and it is a small one, is that Gibson does not finish off the routed out channel beneath the Floyd Rose Tremolo system--it is of course sealed wood, but it is not given the high end glossy finish that the rest of the top is given. that would be a nice touch, but really it is unnecessary as it really isn't visible beneath the allen locking nuts, unless you go looking for it.
This guitar gets my highest endorsement that is for sure, and you can pay a premium and get one of the 50 hand numbered, hand signed personally by Alex like I did--no serial number other than that put on by his own hand. It truly does make the guitar feel more special to me when I play it. I know Alex held it, strummed a few chords and inspected it, and put his name on it, and that means a lot to a player and a collector, and even more to me as a fan.
