OVERVIEW

A painstaking recreation of distinct features and legendary tone.

The introduction of the remodeled Les Paul models of the early 1960s sought to bolster Gibsons reputation as a quality builder of electric solid body guitars, something the Les Pauls of the late 1950s had failed to do. And although those Les Paul models of the late 1950s would eventually become the worlds most iconic six-stringed instruments, the introduction of the redesigned models in 1961 would also signal an important new era in electric solid body design.

Characterized by a much thinner body with two cutaways, pointed horns, beveled edges and no body binding, the new Les Paul failed to achieve the full approval of Les Paul himself, which lead to the removal of Les Pauls name in 1963 in favor of its new name, the SG. A painstaking recreation of the original, the SG Standard Reissue takes you 50 years back in time to a rare and powerful slice of rock history.

The SG Standard Reissue stays true to the specs of this iconic instrument. Its distinct features and legendary tone are meticulously remade with all the precision and accuracy expected from Gibson Custom, including its solid mahogany body with twin cutaways, pointed horns, beveled edges and nickel-plated hardware, and lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece.

Other standard appointments include its cellulose trapezoid fingerboard inlays, single-ply binding along the fingerboard and a slim-neck profile. In addition to these details, the SG Standard Reissue also benefits from elements of the Gibson Custom 20th Anniversary Specifications being introduced for 2013”one-piece rosewood fingerboard, Kluson Deluxe machine heads, hot-hide glue neck fit, a Historic Truss Rod assembly with no tubing, accurate fingerboard binding color, new Custom Buckers created in the image of the original PAFs, and period-correct Aniline dye for guitars finished in Faded Cherry.

Comments about Gibson Custom SG Standard Reissue Stopbar VOS Electric Guitar:

I use this guitar for recording and live performance - it works great for both. It is wonderful to play a high quality instrument like this. The neck response and feel is outstanding and the pickup delivery is quite exceptional. I had a similar model of this white Gibson 50 years ago - I have been wanting one since I sold it at that time - it is like an old friend finally came back home.

Comments about Gibson Custom SG Standard Reissue Stopbar VOS Electric Guitar:

I own this guitar for a year now, Purchased from MF. It looks like an SG is supposed to it's actually the best looking SG I've ever seen too! It plays like a dream and sounds fantastic! I would bring the guitar to a good guitar tech to make sure everything is okay, the first one I had had a twisted neck I noticed buzzing right away, brought to the tech and when he tried to adjust it the neck turned the opposite way. MF took back the guitar and sent another with no problem. These things happen and would not shy away from buying this guitar, Anyway it's the real deal Gibson is building better then ever.
