After much delaying due to gigantic price tag I got one and have been very impressed by it. It really does sound better than other guitars. I compared it to an Eastman john pisano, Epiphone broadway elitist and a gb 10. It was easily way ahead of the other three. If your looking for a jazz guitar with great tone and feel this is it. It is expensive but you won't need to buy any more hollowbodies, this guitar will beat them easily. Easily the best guitar I've ever owned.

I had hoped for something special. The set-up leaves a lot to be desired and the overall fit and finish are what you might expect from this guitar, not one costing more. The acoustic tone is very muted for a carved solid instrument. It might get better with age, but it is starting out a long way from the tone that I was expecting.

    Gibson L5 Wes Montgomery

Comments about Gibson Custom Wes Montgomery Guitar:

    The binding: exquisite
    the wood: stunnung
the tone - to die for
    the finnish: perfecto
the 25 1/2 scale length heavenly
    57 classic pickup
    solid carved maple and spruce
    25 1/2 scale length
    ebony fretboard pearl block inlays
    visually beautiful
    sounds fantastic
The new Wes Montgomery L5 is not only visually stunning, it is the best sounding Jazz
guitar I have ever played. The wormanship is impecable. The design is perfection.
The woods are so beautiful, the top is clear and close grained, the back has
deep shimmering flame, as does the 5 piece neck.
But the tone is the best feature. Single note lines come out warm and fat.
Chords are beautiful and complex with overtones. you can hear each note in a chord,
as Opposed to my ES175 where the chords are fat but you don't hear the individual notes.
If you are a serious jazz player, I highly reccomend this guitar. The price is high,
but I think it is worth every penny to me,
This guitar has the quality where even playing simple stuff sounds beautiful on it.
Every lead note is full and authoritartive. I just love this guitar.

    Amazing versatility!

Comments about Gibson Custom Wes Montgomery Guitar:

While this Beauty is widely renown as an amazing Jazz Guitar, It also works well for me. I play Cow Punk Death Thrash. Structurally it stands up well to the flying stage smashes and the Hand rubbed Nitro cellulose Lacquer finish easily deflects the many hockers that are spat up from the audience on a nightly basis. I just hose it off in the back yard and I'm ready for the next show! The Tone is great for Howling feedback. This thing rules and I highly recommend buying one!

Amazing quality. This thing is fast! If you are into metal then believe it or not, this would be the perfect guitar for you. This thing can shred like it's nobody's buissiness. I play in a jazz club in New York City and this thing really knows how to get the job done RIGHT. Gibson really outdid themselves this time.

    Wes Montgomery Axe

Comments about Gibson Custom Wes Montgomery Guitar:

This guitar plays itself. The workmanship is second to none. This guitar should be played and not stored behind a glass case. If I had to have just one guitar, this is the one.

    Un Classico Magnifico!

    By Gigio

    from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Gibson Custom Wes Montgomery Guitar:

    1. Features ~ Ah, the sounds of perfection! The look and feel of this guitar are so close to perfect that one can almost taste the guitar's sheer power to play. The one pickup delivers one of the most crisp yet rich jazz tones I have ever personally heard. The hardware and bridge are exceptionaally beautiful and retain all of the elements of the L-5 while increasing the complexity and beauty of the guitar's overall tone. Because the pickup is placed ideally at a hard part of the top, it delivers a brilliant tone without eliminating much mid tone, overtone, or eliminating resonance, a lone issue I have with the two-humbucker L-5 CES.2. Quality ~ With a name as grand as Wes Montgomery gracing this model with its presence, how could the quality be anything less than brilliant?3. Value ~ Although some may disagree with me about this, but one receives what one pays for. It is indeed a sharp price tag or some of those musicians who are attempting to get started, but at a certain level of professionalism and experience one forgets about the cost of an instrument and concentrates on the bond that can be formed with it formatively and experientially. For a truly great jazz box, one cannot pay the price needed for a Dean acoustic.4. Overall, this is the best playing Gibson I own and my 2nd favorite Gibson overall (I own a Custom Shop Citation that I received from a VERY good friend). This guitar has the feel of a master's craftsmanship and the legacy of one of the greats (if not the greatest) electric guitarists of all time. Therefore I suggest that anyone who seriously wants to pursue a career in jazz take the time to save up some extra money and purchase this triumph of luthiery.

Comments about Gibson Custom Wes Montgomery Guitar:

I've had hand made archtops. This one is inspirational. I have a '97 "heart model". It's a Gibson and plays great! This is an heirloom player that will get better with age and is a looker! Good blues sound, too.
