Overview

The anvil upon which this virtual/real band hammers out its unique brand of death metal.

Inspired by Nathan Explosion's main axe, the Dethklok Explorer is powered by Gibson BurstBucker 1 and 2 humbuckers mounted on a mahogany body to supply the deadly resonance that matches his death growl voice. The set mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard has a '50s rounded profile that gives Nathan of of support for his muscular riffing. And by the way, that's a satin silver burst...not satan.

Dethklok is both a virtual band featured in the Adult Swim animated program Metalocalypse, and a real band created to perform the band's melodic death metal music in live shows. Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, Dethklok is sometimes cited as an example of "comedy rock" on a par with bands such as GWAR and Spinal Tap.

Breaking The Dethalbum's record as the highest-charting death metal album in history, Dethklok's second release, Dethalbum II, debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 in 2009.
