Stealthy looks and some of Gibson's most powerful pickups.

Hit one detuned power chord on the Explorer Blackout and you'e likely to dim the lights for several blocks around the venue. A pair of Dirty Fingers pickups put some of Gibson USA' most powerful humbuckers beneath your fingertips, while the all-black esthetics and radical Explorer styling complete a guitar that can walk the walk just as fiercely as it talks the talk.

Select mahogany for body and neck ensures rich tone and sustaining resonance, with a SlimTaper neck for unparalleled Gibson playing speed. Dial in the looks with a down-swept, six-a-side Explorer headstock, a black-bound fingerboard with split-diamond inlays, black-chrome hardware and black Speed Knobs, and the Explorer Blackout Limited Run is the most sinister axe on stage or in the studio. Each guitar comes protected in a Vintage Brown Gibson Hardshell case.

Comments about Gibson Explorer Blackout Electric Guitar:

Great guitar. Very fast! The finish is very well done and the action and neck relief was perfect! One of the fastest out of the box guitars I've ever played. Quality all around is great and I'm a fan of the subtle neck binding. The composite fretboard is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact, it's probably a little warmer than rosewood and actually is really smooth (I like it). Well done Gibson! Tone was nice and bright and sounds good clean... But, this thing is blacker than the blackest black times infinity... Two weeks out of the box I had this thing tuned to C standard (standard dropped two steps) and threw in a set of EMG 57/66's. I had to get rid of the dirty fingers. They sounded like two, less attack-y versions of EMG 81s. I was not a fan of them at all, no character and totally gutless. This is the only reason I can't give the guitar 5 stars. I have no idea why Gibson didn't put in BurstBuckers or 57+ pros. Would have made it perfect. Hard shell case is HUGE! This is my first Explorer, so that surprised me. Overall, this has been one of my favorites.

If you want to see this thing in action, get on the youtubes and search the name. I put a bad practice session on there. For the lulz.
