UPS just delievered my Firebird about 30 minutes ago(black and gold), and im very pleased. Im playing my axe through a Marshall VS265,so most anything sounds good. First thing I did was do a visual scan of it. Looks beautiful. The only weird thing was, that it appeared that the guy finishing the neck got a little distracted and left about a 2mm portion at very bottom of the neck unfinished. No big deal, you've gotta look real close to see that. The neck is nice, nothing too out of the ordinary, but the action is good without it fretting out. Although it looks stratish, it feels like any other gibson neck. Very beuitiful guitar visually, has more of a revered high class look then the darker Gibson Explorer. Sound. I started out on my clean channel. The neck pickup has a real nice deap clean sound, almost like a nice acoustic. The bridge pickup is a bit brighter, but still isn't at all tinny, and also has an acoustic like tone, if played softly. If volumes are maxed, you can get some very light distortion on the clean channel. Flip to overdrive 1... The bridge pickup gets a real nice heavy crunch. The neck pickup gets a nice full overdriven tone, Not like crappy punk sound, but more like that nice backround distortion. Overdrive 2... The neck pickup gets kinda muddy, sounds great for leads though. The bridge pickup gets some amazing crunch/scream..awesome sounding harmonics. I haven't done alot of extensive playing, but I am quite impressed. Already owning an Epi SG, i decided I didn't need an additional, but i still wanted the attitude, and the humbucker tone, leading me to this firebird. The tuners will take some time to get used to, but they stay in tune very well. Personally i think the body is great for playing sitting down. The Body fits great on your knee, where it has that slight cutaway, fits kinda like an acoustic. For the price, the guitar is great for us rockers, that want attitude and tone, yet aren't into that metal world of the explorer

I started out on gibsons some 35 years ago and have ran the guitar gantlet (all brands) in that many years. One thing I have learned the hard way is that if the neck width does not fit your hand the instrument will hold you back. The older you get the more restrictive the mismatch. The neck specifications do not reflect the true neck width it is wide! The body had waives in the finish. The hardware is top quality. The pickups and controls are what made gibson gibson. It sounds great. I had to return it. If you have large hands and the fire to match the legendary firebird you will love it. If you have the fire and small hands try the fender american deluxe ash stratocaster with s-1 and modern c neck. I did and it is not going no place without me.

this guitar can kick some a**. with a slick design, the double humbuckers drive out a heavy distortion that will drive any guitarist mad. it may be a bit expensive but it is sure as hell worth it.
This guitar is amazing, and its a gibson i would compare it to the standard sg, everything on this guitar is sweet, the finish is nice too. And nothing looks as cool as a firebird. thank you gibson!
For years, Gibson has been making Quality guitars, But the Gibson Firebird is the icing on the cake. It shreds through riffs like butter. And it is VERY fine looking. If This sight was smart, It would raise the prize. All I am saying is this is the BEST GIBSON I HAVE EVER PLAYER.
I have owned my Firebird Stidio for about 2 weeks now and really love it. This is my 15th Gibson, all of which I still have, and it's sound and feel are stunning. It sounds somewhere between my SG Standard and a Les Paul. It's bridge pickup has a very airy sound somewhat similar to a 57'. I orderd it in white and not only is it beautiful but the fretboard seems to be ebony. Gibson and Musicians Friend you are after my heart and my wallet when you offer such a great guitar at such a great price. The case is great and I would have given quality a 10 if it was not for the plastic flash around the pickup rings and loose nuts around the tuners, all of which I easily fixed. I have small hands yet the neck is very cofortable to me. Great guitar!
The Firebird Studio is the most addictive guitar I have ever played. I have four custom SG's and a Gibson RD. And owned at one time or another Les Pauls, Explorers, and a host of other solid bodys. I hear people complain about the full size humebuckers and the neck being attached as faults of this product. Forget all that BS. If you pick this guitar up you will have a real rough time putting it down.
I've owned many GTRs- Rickenbackers, Hammers, Kramers,Charvel/Jacksons, etc... but this bird really flys. The actions great & I love that I don't need the "whammy"! I can just gentley bend on it's neck & she shen swhoops the notes.I highly suggest that you pick on of these up, Pronto!
This guitar really mkaes up for the price. I got it in white with chrome hardware and the finish is so nice. The smooth lines of the reversed style iws awesome. One of the coolest features is the two tone knobs you can tweek the dynamicsw som much and get a killer sound. I love this guitar and I would recommend it to any Gibson Or Epiphone fan.
First of all I love this guitar. I own alot of fine instruments and this is one of my favorite. I used it alot on my new CD it cut threw the mix like a razor. If you have big hands like I do by the 3rd set you start to crave a fatter neck. Bottom line if this guitar had a Les Paul size neck and a tremelo I would never put it down. I hope someone from Gibson reads this I'm sure Im not the first to make this statment. Dennis Jones
I got my Gibson Firebird about 3 weeks ago, and it was the best thing i have ever bought. I've been lookin at lots of gibson guitars within my budget and decided this one would be the one i order. I wasnt too sure how it would be, but everything-from the playability to the tuners- i got more than what i paid for. This is by far the best guitar i have ever played on. I was worried about the neck being too skinny but my large hands wrap around the neck perfectly and fits like a glove. The body shape fits beautifully and the neck seems to be longer than other guitars. All in all, this was the best decision i have ever made. I highly Recommend it, and since gibson stopped producing these bad boys i suggest you get one soon!
This guitar is the best guitar i've owned. The quality for this guitar is crazy too. One thing that is very cool compared to other firebirds is the size of the body, the body is more rounder and ways a hell of a lot less! The pick ups on these are also excellent. I recommend this guitar to everyone
